KT Tunstall Releases Her New Single “The River” Off The Forthcoming Album “Wax”

Brit Award and Ivor Novello Award-artist KT Tunstall has announced her brand new album “Wax” is due for release October 5th via Rostrum Records. The lead single is “The River”, and sets up the future success for the album so well. The 6th studio album “Wax” was entirely self/co-written and is produced by Nick McCarthy, who is the founding member of multi million selling band Franz Ferdinand. It also features co-production from duo MyRiot (London Grammar, Birdy). “Wax” follows the success of her 2016 top 10 album “KIN” and comes as the second release as part of a trilogy, which explores the spirit, body, and mind. “Wax” focuses on the body, and our complex relationships with physicality.

KT spoke of the project saying “I knew before I started writing that I wanted it to be an electric guitar record. It had to be visceral, about the physical, and the obstacles of that. It’s a record about human-ness, which we so often just write off as ‘flaws’. Wax evokes colonies of bees, candlelight, the material that the first long-playing records were made of”, she explains, “but more than that, wax is produced inside your own head”.

The anthemic single “The River” is written by KT Tunstall and Martin Terefe and produced by Nick McCarthy, Sebastian Kellig and MyRiot, and stands as a powerful lead for the album “Wax”. KT spoke about the dynamic single saying “it’s about wanting to escape the madness in the world, escaping bad relationships, and wanting to be washed clean – emancipation through nature”. To support “Wax”, KT will also embark on a UK and U.S tour in September and October, in which she’s sold out 3 shows in the UK, and will most likely do the same in the U.S. The U.S. tour kicks off on October 16th in Portland, OR and wraps up November 18th in Vancouver, BC.

The song is a credit to KT’s incredible songwriting, and ability to deliver a single that has all the qualities to achieve Billboard success. KT Tunstall has never been a stranger to the charts, and this record will surely put her back into the top 10 with ease.
