INsiders Guide: Jenny JAM, New Politics, Bobby Tenderloin, Saticöy, Ziggy Alberts, Miranda Joan, Chris Hutton

Jenny JAM is a London born, Los Angeles based soul-pop singer/songwriter whose music aims to encourage others to always believe in yourself even when times get tough. Her thought-provoking and sincere songwriting allows listeners to connect to her music, delivering an authentic message that has been captivating audiences across the globe.

With a background in musical theatre, acting and modelling, Jenny utilizes her dynamic singing talents and experiences to craft her own unique and genuine music. Inspired to write after a series of traumatic events, Jenny used writing as a form of release, wanting others to hear her story and learn from her experiences and mistakes. The overall theme of her music highlights turning negatives into positives. The musician explains, “You can always take the positive out of the worst of experiences, as there is always a lesson – no matter how big the price to pay is”.

Jenny draws from a panorama of influences ranging from jazz, soul and blues, to the classic 60’s rock bands including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac. Jenny reveals, “Amy Winehouse’s real and deeply honest lyrics mixed with her classic 60’s style jazz, has definitely made me feel that as an artist I can be more free to express who I really am, in the style I really want”.

Leading single ‘Morning Bottle’ narrates the singers struggle with her arrival in Los Angeles. She confides, “The message is ultimately that no matter what happens to you, who screws you over, who takes everything from you, abuses you, tries to destroy you or destroy relationships that mean everything to you; no one can take away who YOU are. Always stay true to yourself and believe in you, then you will rise out of the ashes no matter what happens”.

Produced by Ikuma Matsuda (formerly of Interscope Records), who was named by The Huffington Post as “The Japanese music producer who needs to be on your radar”, mixed by Josh Monroy (Jojo, Quincey Jones) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning Jett Galindo, ‘Morning Bottle’ has already received acclaim from industry professionals. Sonically, ‘Morning Bottle’ features deep poetic lyrics, delivered with feisty, passionate vocals. The single packs a punch through its use of pulsating percussion and resonating guitars, creating a powerful anthem for those in need.

The stunning cinematic visuals for ‘Morning Bottle’ reflect the lyrics, telling the story of some of the unreliable people Jenny first met coming to Los Angeles. Jenny expresses, “I also wanted the music video to portray my living situation; living out a suitcase at no fixed abode, drinking to get through my struggles. The desert and the open road was my escape. Being in such a beautiful deserted location gave me a sense of freedom and power”.

Jenny JAM has acted in many notable films and programs alongside renowned actors and actresses. With the hope to follow a similar path with her music, the singer continues to preach the importance of always believing in yourself, with ‘Morning Bottle’.

Well, some may say that the legend of Bobby Tenderloin begins much like every other legendary story you have ever heard. Others may say that the magic is in the details.

One thing is for certain, The Bobby Tenderloin Universe is a place where mishaps become miracles, & dreams come true.

The legend begins on a fateful day in March, not so long ago, where a new universe was born, that saw the birth of Bobby Tenderloin & the passing of a preacher, who was a husband to a ragtime pianist, & grandfather to none other than, Bobby Tenderloin.

Legend says that on that day, the spirit of the preacher was passed onto Bobby Tenderloin, as his devotion to lifting people & expressing words of unconditional love through music, was noted at a young age. This was the foundation of the profound bond formed between Bobby Tenderloin & his grandmother, as hours, days & eventually years were spent, side by side, in front of ivory keys. An ancient craft of artistry & music was passed to Bobby Tenderloin.

The story of Bobby Tenderloin is one of legends, mystical death, a sacred transfer, a cosmic continuum, & is written in the stars & hearts of every being that ever was, is or will be.

Welcome to the universe…

In Saticöy‘s video for their newest single “Nice to Know” they explore how grief and remembrance are exhibited in different ways by different people. Directed by Michael Arter, there’s a sharp contrast between the muted grief of the black and grey wake and the escape of the younger generation in vibrant color as they lift their spirits in celebration of life. They wander the streets taking part in the rituals and past times they once experienced with the departed, from carousel and train rides to dips in the ocean swimming amongst the sea lions. The emotional arch goes from exuberant to reflective melancholy, capturing the stages we all get lost in as we look back on the spirit of the loved one we’ve lost. Saticöy’s video is a visual showcase of how uniquely grief touches each of us while providing an opportunity to say goodbye in the only way we know how.

Miranda Joan is a singer/songwriter born in Montréal and raised in Vancouver, Canada.  Both the English and French Canadian cultures have left their mark on her artistry. Now based in New York City, Joan’s multi-cultural upbringing and love of soul music and it’s many shades, finds her sound floating somewhere between soul, pop, and singer/songwriter.

Following the release of her debut EP Still, which fused retro soul with an electronic edge, blurring the lines between old school and contemporary. Joan released the irresistibly catchy track “Free” featuring her stunning raspy soulful vocals over colorful synths and energetic melodies.

Inspired by the likes of Carole King and Stevie Wonder and most recently contemporary artists such as Anderson Paak and fellow Canadian artist Kaytranada, Joan’s body of work provides an intimate look into the musicians life. Joan’s music has an underlying theme of empowerment, uncovering and connecting with one’s own strength and the importance of self-love. Joan has performed on international tours, as well as playing to sold-out audiences across New York City. She is a co-host and co-founder of Femme Jam (NYC’s first all-female led jam session), which creates a space in the music community that both shines a light on female musicians and also fosters a safe and inclusive space for women to play, network and gain exposure.

Los Angeles musician, Chris Hutton, tells the story of heartbreak and healing on his new EP, “Oxygen.” Hutton’s unique style, described by A&R Factory as “tangibly magnetic,” is radio-synth-pop meets booming basslines and authentic lyrics. The songwriter brings his experiences and emotions to each track he writes, crafting sounds that take listeners through the melodic world he’s created with his music. He’s performed at LA’s House of Blues and Hotel Cafe, bringing his infectious brand of pop music to audiences throughout Southern California. On his latest release, he mixes experimentation and storytelling into ultra-magnetic hooks and deeply personal tracks.

Produced by Enoch Yang and Adam Watts, the album blasts off with the irresistible “Bathroom Floor.” This heartbreak anthem is a powerful blast of pop hooks, exploding to a rock-influenced breakdown where Hutton belts to pure perfection.

The funky “Mine” was born from the ashes of another idea completely, coming to life via expert production and layers of glistening instrumentation. Packed with 80’s electro vibes, Hutton creates the lusty, forbidden fruit track that we’ve all been waiting for. Things come to an emotional head with the intense ballad, “Burn.” Inspired by the moment Hutton saw Notre Dame burning down, the track transforms that feeling of helplessness into aching heartbreak. Equal parts tragic love song and an ode to a historical landmark, it’s one of the standout vocal moments on the EP. On “Crossfire,” Hutton explores having feelings for someone he can’t be with. Bursting with colorful rhythms and a powerhouse chorus, every melodic moment of the track is twinkling with unstoppable passion. The first single, “Oxygen,” sneaks up on you with its mysterious ambiance and whispering vocals. Hutton crafts an intense, sensationalized sense of what love looks like when you’re broken. It builds in intensity with glitzy basslines and euphoric falsetto, showcasing new layers of sonic exploration with each listen.
