INsiders Guide: Landon Lloyd Miller, Reph, Punk Adams, Dela Kay, Devon Baldwin, Ottomatick, Anna Shoemaker ….

Embracing both the fear and freedom of a newly-launched solo career, Landon Lloyd Miller releases his debut single, the soulful strut “Light Is Growing” — a song with funky undertones reflecting his Louisiana roots and a personal reminder that there is rejuvenating light after moments of darkness.Watch the video for “Light Is Growing” here: https://youtu.be/Qr6u9rVUQkU “This song is about hope for me, and balance. I think the video resonantes with that in a charming way” says Miller.  Arriving with a playful official video, it finds Miller caught amidst a storm of archival footage and offers a fitting first look at Landon captaining his own ship and charting his own course. “The going gets tough, he barely hangs on, but in the end the sun comes out and he has survived. This arch mirrors the lyrics of the song without being too on the nose or overdone.” he says.  Made with director Evan Falbaum, Miller recounts of making the video: “Falbaum wanted to have fun with practical effects. We wheeled the ship into a hangar, set up a screen behind us and rear projected the waves. He splashed buckets of water on me and activated strobes for a lightning effect. We knew we wanted old footage for the “storm” and made the production match that style where possible. The final moment is the captain clinging to a board while floating in the water. A working lantern floats by, He makes it through the night.  We draped a screen into a swimming pool and rear projected the sun coming up. It’s fun and makes me nostalgic for making home movies as a kid.”

My new single Dream ft. Alyssa Reid is officially out!

The inspiration came from a girl that I can’t seem to stop thinking about… no matter how much I try to push her away, she always ends up popping up, even in my dreams.

As you listen to this nostalgic song, I hope you’re able to reminisce on the good old days.

The music video takes place at a virtual reality retreat where my collaborator Alyssa Reid and I are able to experience past memories, the good and the bad. I relive the moments I had with an ex, which feels pleasant at first, until I witness a flashback that traumatizes me. Noticing my freak out, Alyssa disconnects us from the VR equipment and we run away together to a beautiful beach location. Here we realize that freedom only comes once we let go of the past.

Thank you for your time, and stay tuned for more releases soon.

In 2014 Dela Kay’s electro-pop style began to emerge through a collaboration with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema- a style which Femke describes as, “fun, vibey and youthful, but with a sense of longing.” She garnered hundreds of thousands of streams on all of her singles and attention from major music outlets including Earmilk, Paste, Parade, Hype Magazine, No Country For New Nashville, Pop-Culturalist and Celebmix. Today, she makes her return to music after a brief hiatus debuting a new, more alternative sound. Her new sound is influenced by the recent resurrection of punchy alternative rock made famous by its emotion-filled lyrics and strong female vocalists. She finds her inspiration from other artists like WILLOW, Olivia Rodrigo who are leading the revival movement, as well as Avril Lavigne and Paramore who originally created it.

“It wasn’t until the Covid pandemic hit at the beginning of 2020 that I realized- as much as I love deep house/ dance-pop, I felt called to dive deeper into my roots. I’m very excited to now have the world see the new, rebranded Dela Kay. My new music is more alternative-pop, it’s energetic, vibey yet sincere at its core.” – Dela Kay

Having always considered herself a songwriter first, Dela Kay feels this more connected and represented by the music she plans to release in the upcoming year. This new project will heavily feature her own experiences in life and love, opening up to her fans and showing them the most intimate and authentic version of herself.

Devon Baldwin has built her career creating music in the midst of crises. Her lung collapsed several times immediately following her songwriting debut, “Let’s Get Lost,” a collaboration with rapper G-Eazy while both attending school in New Orleans.

Unable to sing, Baldwin returned to her childhood home in the Bay Area to recover. This move forced her to focus solely on her songwriting. Holed up in her hometown, Baldwininfused the experience of growing up there into her work. She crafted songs rich in the images of the natural landscape —vast seascapes and winding foggy mountain roads through the lens of a love-stoned teen.

After her recovery, she released her debut EP, appropriately titled, Lungs, which accumulated several million streams and featured a collection of ethereal, sensuous pop songs with forward-thinking electronic production that highlighted Baldwin’s innately emotive vocals and songwriting.

As she continued to build her career, Baldwin worked with high profile artists like G-Eazy, Blackbear, and Skizzy Mars, while also releasing two EPs titled Dead of Night and Underwater produced by frequent collaborators Christoph Andersson and Jono Dorr. After these releases, Baldwin found herself on tour when yet another life-changing crisis – the pandemic— forced her and the rest of the world to isolate and retreat inward.

Once again, Baldwin used this isolated time and space to write and record the bulk of her debut album. In 2020, she co-wrote and released a two-part single called ‘Blindspot’ with EDM artist Nurko and a single and music video for G-Eazy’s “Angel Cry.” Following these successes, she covered Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” with G-Eazy for his latest album, These Things Happen Too, all of which were major streaming successes.

Baldwin’s music shares an underlying theme of loneliness that can be attributed to the crises that helped shape her career. Her songs take on a haunting ethereal quality that speak to the various forms that loneliness can take on: physical, emotional, and mental. The first single from her new album, “Forgot To Miss You,” embodies the relatable struggle of being at peace with yourself after a breakup. “Forgot To Miss You” is about the in-between after a relationship ends, when the process of healing means realizing that wounds don’t heal – you just accept them as time goes on.” “Forgot to Miss You’ comes just as Baldwin begins touring again on November 12, 2021.

The daughter of a music producer and creative writing teacher, Baldwin was destined to become a songwriter. But throughout her career, her determination to prevail despite setbacks and false starts also demonstrates that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Rapper/Singer, Ottomatick confronts the constraints society inflicts on us on new single, “Ego Trap,” featuring LeRome Swiss and FireFae, out on December 12, 2021. Known for crafting music designed to heal and align the planet, Ottomatick tunes each song with precision and a clear message. Previously, he worked as a chemical engineer, designing systems that test children for food intolerances to heal issues like ADHD. After the clinical study was canceled, he ventured out to find a new way of healing that aligned with who he was. Influenced by time spent in Peru with his Shaman, it was clear that music was the next avenue to generate universal healing and hope.

On the new single, “Ego Trap,” Ottomatick teams up with  LeRome Swiss and FireFae for an insightful look at the deep influence society has on us. Between classical piano-inspired instrumentation and deep synth beats, reminiscent of 90’s hip-hop hits, he reminds us that we have the power to step away from the influences around us. While the world focuses on materialistic goals, he encourages us to step back and look at the facts — what is real and what is an illusion? With dynamic sonic energy, Ottomatick takes hip hop to a new level, encouraging reflection and strength in the face of a never-ending barrage of outside influences. indie-pop artist Anna Shoemaker shares her new single, “Change My Mind,” on +1 Records. “Change My Mind” is a cathartic coming-of-age tale about growing up and learning to be easier on yourself. “It’s about being hopeful while also accepting and welcoming your emotions as they come,” says Anna. Writing this song really changed a lot for me.” Pairing her signature vocals and diaristic lyricism with textured indie-rock instrumentation, “Change My Mind” reveals Anna’s full promise as an artist who can create layered and immersive songs that capture the human experience in all its grit and glory. With her new songs, Anna is breaking out of the bedroom pop world into a more mature and intentional sound, writing her feelings as though you’ve lived them alongside her. “Change My Mind” is the third track to be released from her 2022 debut album and follows recent singles “Sick!” and “It’s Depression (ft. Middle Part),” the latter of which has landed impressive DSP support with adds on Spotify playlists like The New Alt, Fresh Finds Rock (*cover), New Noise, Your Alternative and more. Described by NYLON as “Brooklyn’s own Olivia Rodrigo,” Anna Shoemaker is making her mark as the next indie-pop darling to watch. Combining alt-leaning production, intoxicating pop melodies and notably honest lyricism, her songs capture the turmoil, charm and introspection of young adulthood. Originally hailing from Philadelphia, she first made her mark by releasing a viral mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance the Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses” right from her bedroom floor. She has released 2 EPs since – ‘East Side’ (2018) and ‘Everything Is Embarrassing’ (2020) – as well as a handful of standout singles. Anna’s debut album will be released in early 2022 via +1 Records.
