INsiders Guide: REI BROWN, NEAVV, Roye Trout, TILSEN, Lyle Kam, Lakeyah, BLACK EYED PEAS, MOD SUN, Caitlynne Curtis, BADDA TD…

New York City-based, Japanese producer and musician rei brown releases his vulnerable third single today, “White Honda” featuring first-generation Filipino-American artist Lecx Stacy, along with its accompanying video. The third single comes ahead of the highly-anticipated forthcoming debut full-length album from the up-and-comer, Xeno, due out July 8, 2022, available for pre-order now

“White Honda,” featuring Lecx Stacey brings the duo to a place where they can be most themselves as they struggle to confess feelings to a crush. Early in the track, rei brown gets to the heart of the song professing, “Just wanna let you know I’m trying / That I’ve been struggling to find it in me / To tell you that you got me flying / You set a different kind of fire in me.” It aptly captures the butterflies and nervousness that comes with revealing true feelings to a new love.

The track unmistakably expands the cinematic world rei has already begun to build with his latest releases. Lecx Stacy, who takes part in this world’s creation with today’s track, says, “This song feels special. It was a special experience creating a world with rei while being in opposite coasts of the country and only have spoken to each other virtually.”

rei still loves the track each time he hears it, and thoroughly enjoyed making it. rei brown notes, “I had such an amazing time making this song with Lecx. I love and respect everything he makes and we were able to inject so much of ourselves into the song. I love how we were able to tell this really delicate story about vulnerability through an insanely hard song. I still hear the ending of it and uncontrollably bop my head every time.”

I’m NEAVV – an alternative synth-pop artist, songwriter and producer currently based on Gabriola Island, Canada. Increasingly frustrated by the lack of women in the studio, I decided it was time to be part of the change and learn how to produce. Shortly after the pandemic hit, within a week I gave up my Toronto apartment, sold almost everything I owned and hit the road in my 2000 Honda CRV for BC. Two ferries and 4,500 km later, I landed on Gabriola Island to wait out the pandemic with family and teach myself how to record and produce my own music.

Want You” is the first single off my forthcoming album, a collection of songs I wrote, recorded and produced while navigating life from my tiny studio by the ocean.

Want You” is an emotional and honest song that was inspired by the end of my relationship with someone who wasn’t being completely honest at the time. It’s a snapshot of what I was feeling right after it happened. I knew I deserved better but I was still struggling with wanting and missing that person even though I knew they had already moved on.

Listen to “Want You” out now on streaming platforms everywhere.

Loss can be pretty complex when it comes to the emotions you feel, but at the core of it all for me is sadness. I just hope listeners find a place to sit in whatever emotions come up for them and know that any loss is hard – and it’s ok to not be ok.

Thank you for listening,

Tilsen’s songs are about true love, its peaks and valleys, joy, and anguish. Tilsen’s music is strong, upbeat, and brutally honest. Her visuals have a majestic, historical feel to them, from dance halls to wide vistas.

Fresh out of university, Toronto-based singer/songwriter and producer Lyle Kam channels sonic inspiration from artists like Lauv, Jeremy Zucker, and Charlie Puth. After the success of his debut EP Folly – featuring the Tik Tok viral single “Unlove” – Lyle is returning in 2022 with a fresh batch of music featuring his trademark introspection about love, loss, and belonging.

A true Renaissance man, Lyle has spent the past four years bridging the gap between creativity and engineering – writing, producing, and mixing his music, while also studying engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Now as he turns his attention full time to creativity, he hopes to shine a light on Asian-Canadian artists and inspire others with his message that nothing is out of reach with enough passion and hard work. He also hopes to never actually have to use his engineering degree.

QC’s heir to the throne, Lakeyah, has shared her newest EP No Pressure Part 1. Listen to it HERE. The Milwaukee rapper and newly signed Motown Records artist has kept her foot on the gas since her signing to Quality Control Music in 2020. With a relentless slew of projects and EPs, she showcases her versatile sound that bridges the gap between velvety R&B and hard-hitting bars that rival even her most veteran QC counterparts.

The new EP includes the well-received lead single, Mind Yo Business” ft. Latto, which set the tone for the project, with the music video amassing 2.7 million views on YouTube since early June. With her latest 5-track installment, No Pressure Part 1Lakeyah continues to prove herself to be the rapper to watch in 2022.

Today, six-time GRAMMY® Award-winning, genre-bending pioneers Black Eyed Peas return with a blockbuster new single entitled “Don’t You Worry” [with Shakira David Guetta] via Epic Records. Listen to “Don’t You Worry”HERE. This is the second time the Black Eyed Peas and iconic Colombian singer-songwriter and multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® winner Shakira have worked together. Their last collaboration, “GIRL LIKE ME,” picked up a gold certification from the RIAA and amassed over half-a-billion streams, unlocking unprecedented creative chemistry in the process. The single also reunites Guetta and the Black Eyed Peas who first collaborated in 2009 on the global #1 smash “I Gotta Feeling”.

“Don’t You Worry” sees Black Eyed PeasShakira, and Guetta level up together on the kind of international banger meant to eclipse genre lines and borders. They each bless the track with a signature flavor, uniting for an undeniable summer anthem that’s as hot as it gets. The music video, by Director X seamlessly translates this energy to the screen.

singer, songwriter, and producer MOD SUN drops the video for his latest release, pop-punk anthem of the summer “Perfectly Imperfect”.

Directed by MOD SUN’s close friend, and guitarist, forgetbrennan, the video was shot across various locations in London. The visual follows MOD SUN in multiple locations across town including: Hyde Park, on a double decker bus, the River Thames, Tufnell Park, and the roof The Hard Rock Hotel London. A few days before the video shoot MOD SUN shared an ask across social media for fans to show up in “Perfectly Imperfect” homemade shirts to be a part of the video, over 200 people participated. The video also features some clips shot on Mod’s infamous DV camera that he takes everywhere.

Caitlynne Curtis started singing when she was 3 years old. She fondly remembers, “I used to sing to my grandma.” When she was 6 her mom put her in voice lessons. The minute she got her first solo she said, “It’s like I knew from then on that music is what I wanted to do.” Her parents moved her whole family down to Nashville from Massachusetts when she was twelve so that she could pursue music. After receiving a heartbreaking rejection from X Factor at the tender age of 16, Caitlynne thought she blew her chance at being a singer, but she never really gave up. Her life took a detour when she had her son at 19. Selling cars to support herself and her son, she would record covers of songs to her Instagram as a small way to keep her dream alive. Fortunately, the stars aligned and the right person came along to change everything. Now, thirteen years after moving to Nashville, Caitlynne is realizing her dream. Signed to Angels & Outlaws, an independent label spearheaded by rapper Struggle Jennings, she released her first full length album early in 2021. Her single “I Will Survive” is an autobiographical narrative of Curtis transforming her life for the better and finding newfound purpose in being a mom to her new son. Her new track “Mood Swings” is a song about love, relationships and the ups and downs we all face in life.

On its heels, he caught fire with 2019’s “Picture I Paint.” Fortnite mega-star FaZe Sway utilized it in a video, fueling a viral explosion. Eventually, it raked in 23.7 million Spotify streams and 12 million YouTube views. He maintained the momentum as “Gang” posted up 16.6 million Spotify streams and 5 million YouTube views. Receiving critical acclaim, Elevator raved, “Badda TD is quickly ascending out of Brooklyn. Now, he does his hometown proud with confident and catchy bars, magnetic melodies, and effortless star power.
