Hi Jordyn welcome to OLC! So tell us all what made you want to be an actress?

I like writing in class and being creative. Acting is a chance for me to live stories and still be creative.

How were you discovered?

I took acting classes at the Actors Scene in Buford, GA, and they had an end of year showcase. I did a commercial for Lunchables Tacos (haha) and was called back by multiple agents.  I got my first agent from that Showcase.

You star in “The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry”, tell me a bit about the movie and who you play?

In The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, I played Maya at the ages of 5 and 6. It’s about a man named AJ who owns a bookstore, and he adopts Maya and raises her as his own. The story follows his relationship with Amy (Ms. Lucy Hale) and the journey of raising Maya.

What was your most memorable from being on set?

My most memorable moment was when it was my birthday on set. The hair and makeup crew threw a party for all of the Mayas. They did our hair and makeup, we dressed up, and danced and played! It was so much fun!

How did you prepare for the role?

I looked into myself and found my book worm vibe. I knew that Maya was kind and sweet and loved to read.  So I became her in my mind. Also, our director got me in contact with the oldest Maya beforehand, and we were able to FaceTime to discuss how we thought Maya should be played so she would be the same.

You also star in the Apple TV+ film ‘Emancipation’ starring Will Smith. I can’t wait to see this movie, can you tell me a bit about your experience on that movie and what it was like meeting a huge star like Will Smith?

Will Smith was so cool to meet! As soon as I saw him, my eyes popped out of my head. He was so nice and welcoming, we even talked about his role as Genie in Aladdin. Being on this set was amazing because I learned a lot about the people during that time and how their lives were.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

When I was on set for a TV show I filmed, the lead actress gave me really good advice on getting through the scene.  I was supposed to be really sad…so she told me that I should act like I was melting and in quicksand…and that did the trick and I nailed the scene!

What upcoming projects do you have? Anything you can tell us about?

I am staring in Emancipation as Laurette who is Will Smith’s character’s youngest daughter. That movie comes out on 12/2. I have also had the opportunity to work on some TV shows, and I cannot wait for those to release!

You also love video games I read, what’s your favourite game and what do you love so much about it?

I love to play Roblox, because you get to join friends and role play in so many cool mini games!

What would be your all time dream role and project to star in?

I would love to land a lead role in a Disney+ TV show or movie. I love all the shows and movies on there.
