Currently Rihanna is working on her next studio album, and while there is no current release date, we do know it’s getting closer. She did reveal a bit about the forthcoming project during the announcement she will be performing at the 2023 Superbowl Halftime show saying;

“If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special,” the Grammy-winning singer said. On agreeing to perform for the annual football showdown, she said, “It was now or never for me.”

She added, “The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh my god, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work, Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that fans?”

She currently has two tracks that feature on the Black Panther 2 soundtrack. “Lift Me Up” was the first song off the soundtrack to be released, and it marked Rihanna’s first solo music since her 2016 studio album, Anti. An R&B ballad, “Lift Me Up” was written and produced by Ludwig Göransson, with additional writing from Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Nigerian singer Tems.
