Indie rock band, Carver Commodore is thrilled to release their new single “Too Late TO Get Out” that is out now along with the music video that can be seen at https://youtu.be/nuAtUTWQOTs

“Too Late To Get Out” is featured on their new EP If Nothing Happens to be released on August 15th. They recently released the singles” “Never Satisfied” and “Drown Me in Emotions” that is also out now as well and will be featured on the EP.

Carver Commdore recently partnered with Salt Link Incubator.  Salt Link Incubator is nonprofit artist development organization supporting aspiring musicians in the early stages of their creative journeys. The Incubator seeks to help these musicians develop artistically, sustain their well-being, and forge viable careers. More Details to come.

Boston-born singer/songwriter Rothstein describes his work as “what might happen if Raymond Carver wrote pop songs.” Writing with the emotional equivalent of surgical precision, he delivers indie pop records with soul

Rothstein began his storied musical journey at age 16. Upon joining the slam poetry team Brave New Voices, his father, a jazz musician, advised he should instead pivot his passion for spoken word to something “that people actually liked.”

After eventually dropping out of school, he cut his teeth in the gritty New York scene, working at his friend’s cut and sew shop by day and writing songs by night. For his sheer love of the craft he explains, “I would write as much music as possible at all times, three to four hours a day since I was 16. There has never been a moment I didn’t love it.”

Inspired by the bravado of infamous gangster Arnold Rothstein, he traded in his too-sensitive-for-Boston nature for a little bit of edge – thus giving birth to the name. It’s Rothstein’s duality that makes him so painfully relatable. The chronic underdog turned hero. Growing up as a precocious child in such a brutal environment paved the way for him to eventually fall into the wrong crowd and turn tough, getting into fights all the while crafting heart wrenching songs by the dozen.

In 2016, after a cold email to Chicago rapper SUPA BWE with a sample of music, he was invited to come out to his studio. SUPA BWE had asked him to record the songs they had made but Rothstein doubted his vocal capabilities. After some quick tips on vocal processing, he returned home a singer. It was post-trip that he recorded himself in his backyard and uploaded his first 4-minute trap single “Get Your Shit Together” to DSPs. A few months later, the song organically gained traction after being placed on multiple Spotify playlists, including the US Viral 50 chart. With nearly half a million streams on the song, he committed to never having a real job again.

Rothstein’s self-released catalog has now amassed over 20M streams on Spotify alone. Since his breakout single, Rothstein’s work has earned coveted, global editorial placements on New Music FridayMellow BarsFresh FindsBeast ModeLowkey and Chill Vibes, among others.

He draws inspiration from a diverse array of musical and literary contemporaries and forebears, from Future to Charlie Wilson to Donald Fagen and Paul Simon. Listeners can hear Rothstein’s journey unfold through each of his projects, from HIGH WATER through Wish You Were Here and GOSSIP. Each body channels his raw misery, focusing inward. As he’s refined his sound and become sonically more indie-pop leaning, his forthcoming album channels this dark perspective with more of an outward-facing lens that allows his fans to hear their own voices in the music.

His debut studio album, How Not To Drownis slated for release this fall and was made with longtime collaborator and Brasstracks producer Ivan Jackson. While the album is about the worst of him that remains, it’s not just miserable in every direction. Once realizing that he’s been prone to high highs and low lows, he notes that the album is about pleasure seeking and “keeping your head above water for all the wrong reasons.” Diving into little stories of vice and pleasure, the records on the album are emotionally satiating and deliciously intricate.

Rothstein has also written songs for multi-platinum producers, rappers, indie-rock bands, soul acts and K-Pop stars alike. He is a member of and principal songwriter in Grammy-winning band/production collective Brasstracks, with whom he’s toured and played sold-out, headline shows from The Blue Note to Irving Plaza.

At his core, Rothstein is just a sensitive soul turned bad boy with a penchant for Pokémon, luxury fragrance, and good old-fashioned storytelling.

Pearl Earl is the neo-psychedelic rock project of multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Ariel Hartley formed in Denton, TX in 2014. Originally debuting as a three piece, the band now consists of a rotating cast of original and touring members including Bailey K Chapman, Stefanie Lazcano, Chelsey Danielle, Teddy Georgia Waggy and Leeza V. The band has been in constant evolution and shape-shifting since its birth as a bedroom project on Hartley’s laptop in her early college years. With heavy nods to spacey prog and golden era glam rock, Pearl Earl invokes the cosmic nostalgia of the past while carving new territory of its own psychedelic universe. Once described as “Pink Floyd in the sunlight” the band’s live performances are captivating and euphoric with an ominous grin.

The band has done several U.S tours across the U.S. and has shared bills with bands such as Death Valley, Girls, Oh Sees, Post Animal, The Black Angels, Acid Dad, Frankie and The Witch Fingers, Black Lips and have played major festivals such as Levitation and SXSW.

Now primarily based in Los Angeles and north Texas, Pearl Earl has released their sophomore record titled “It’s Dread” via Green Witch Recordings in NYC. The album was recorded in Los Angeles by Tomas Dolas (Mr. Elevator, Oh Sees) at Studio 22 and explores a darker theme of existential crisis in an apocalyptic world. The first album single, ‘Evil Does it’ is “a squealing symphony of woozy synths and reverberating rhythms, fans of the likes of Pond and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are in for a treat. A laid back, drunkenly rhythmic, swinging pace shows that this isn’t a track that takes itself too seriously, and Pearl Earl doesn’t shy away from bringing in any sound they see fit and weaving it into melody.”- Antonia Sulley, Earmilk. The band is set to embark on several tours in support of the new album this year, including the band’s first ever European tour.

“Pearl Earl are like if Pentangle were a villainous cartoon rock band in an old episode of Josie & the Pussycats. The songs on their debut are cartoon-colored and full of knotty guitar work, weird, witchy vocals and sharp melodic left-turns. Just when you think you’ve got them pinned down, they change shape.” – J. Edward Keyes, Bandcamp Daily.

Homes at Night — the Nashville-based pairing of songwriters Hank Compton and Aksel Coe — present their new single, “Midwest Summer” out now on Hazel Street Records.

Since releasing their recent single, “Texaco,” Homes at Night have been busy on back-to-back tours with Saint Motel and Arts Fishing Club. Now, they’re ready to share another catchy yet heartfelt rock song with the release of “Midwest Summer,” a track that delicately blends anthemic alternative rock instrumentation with hazy indie-pop melodies.

The duo elaborate on the new single: “‘Midwest Summer’ really feels like two different songs melded into one. It’s an approachable, nostalgia-bomb in the indie-alt vein that feels perfect for late night drives on a humid Summer night. But it’s also a melancholic song that follows the story of two former lovers visiting their hometown at the same time, seeing if they can reignite their high-school flame through the lens of nostalgia. As we are on tour in the Midwest currently, this song has become the soundtrack of our travels and we can’t wait to share it!

Homes at Night blur the boundaries between genre and generation with their alternative pop/rock anthems. It’s a sound that’s both nostalgic and modern, layered with organic instruments, synth-driven soundscapes, cinematic hooks, percussive pulse, and story-driven songwriting that nods to their Nashville roots while simultaneously pushing far beyond them. With multiple US tours under their belt, as well as press support from tastemakers like idobi Radio and Atwood Magazine, Homes at Night are an exciting new band on the rise.

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Salem Ilese opens up about a one sided relationship in “Team Sport” Get it HERE via 10K Projects

Team Sport” is a raw, unfiltered pop anthem that explores Salem’s internal monologue regarding a one-sided relationship. Inspired by the iconic 00s pop-rock sound, Salem Ilese is diving deep into her emotions creating one of the most personal tracks she’s made to date. Salem perfectly captures the emotional rollercoaster of forcing a relationship to work rather than letting it flow. She adds:

“Team Sport is about being in a one-sided relationship. It’s one of those rare songs that started out with the first verse. I usually write the chorus first, but this song began with the idea “there’s no “i” in love.” Relationships really are a team sport, whether it be romantic or otherwise. The production of this song is one of my favorites on the album. It feels very raw and emotional, and leans into my actual music taste, which is primarily alt rock. The instrumentation is mostly live, which I also appreciate.”

Nashville-based singer and songwriter Caroline Romano reveals her new single, “This House,” off her upcoming EP, ‘A Brief Epic,’ out July 28th.

With her new EP, ‘A Brief Epic, Caroline reintroduces herself with a more mature and intentional alt-leaning sound. The EP will include past singles “Mississippi Air” and “Guts,” as well as her new release, “This House.”

Delivering her diaristic lyrics over slow-burning rock instrumentation, “This House” tells a heart wrenching yet cathartic tale. Caroline elaborates on her new single: “‘This House’ is about the self-inflicted bruises that come with trying to make something work that inevitably never will. It’s about so desperately wanting that person to look at you a certain way, but always feeling like they see right through you. It’s painting the walls just to have them draw all over it, and building a house just for them burn. I guess it’s not really about unrequited love, but about just not having quite enough of it.

Scottish DJ and producer Arkley returns with his new maximalist 90s dance and rave-inspired EP ‘ExtRaveRted’ via Spirit Of Rave Records.

Lead track ‘If You Ever Need Love’ immediately sets the scene. Inner City-style synth stabs and a 909 drum loop underpin soulful vocals sampled from a rare 90s dance track by Groove Committee.  The emotive verse bursts into an irresistible drop with an urgent vocal hook, insistent M1 bass and layers of interlocking house rhythms.

Next comes ‘Serious’, a high-energy cut that captures the visceral energy of early acid house, with another ear-worm vocal, infectious synth riff and staccato 303 bass. ‘When Life Gets Hard’ takes the energy to the next level with a Black Box-esque life-affirming vocal atop M1 strings, sinewy 303 bass and punchy modern drum grooves.

Arkley closes out the EP with a warehouse party vibed version of 2 In A Room‘s hip house classic ‘Wiggle It (Acid Grooves)’.  Over stripped production, the rapped vocals boast with charismatic swagger, “It’ll take control of your mind and make you move your behind”.

With ExtRaveRted, Arkley once again puts his unique and fresh spin on acid house, rave and 90s dance influences. The jet black and luminous Keith Haring-influenced artwork reflects the urgent attack and release of the music, building towards that 3am euphoria of losing it together on the dancefloor.

The ExtRaveRted EP follows Arkley’s Channel A EP, which was heavily supported by BBC IntroducingNotionFour/FourDMC World and Snack Magazine, and tastemaker DJs including Judge Jules. Arkley’s tracks have also been featured on editorial playlists, including Apple Music ‘New In Dance’ and YouTube Music ‘Dance Hotlist’ and ‘New Dance & Electronic’.

London-based artist Barny Fletcher has released a new single titled “Masterpiece.” The track is the latest single from Barny’s forthcoming debut album, Lonestar, due out August 25 via Guin Records. Listen to “Masterpiece” now here

A groovy funk track laced with disco flourishes and driving percussion, “Masterpiece” is the second taste of Barny Fletcher’s forthcoming debut album and further amplifies the artist’s unbounded stylistic dexterity. Speaking on the song, Barny describes, “A musician travels from town to town, playing music in smokey down bars. When in LA, he happens upon the prettiest girl he’s ever seen. He makes it his mission to get her to stay, she says he can only do that by making her dance. This song is on some disco shit. I structured it similar to Love Comes Down because it’s one if the best songs ever written.”

Today’s release comes on the heels of last month’s album kick-off single “WOO!,” which saw strong Spotify support landing on playlists such as New Music Friday UK and Fresh Finds. The track also drew critical acclaim from outlets such as Dork as well as EARMILK, who noted, “His harmonies are alluring and they are matched with a unique inflection in his vocals.” Watch the “WOO!” official videohere.

Rooted in themes of young love and self-discovery, the forthcoming album boasts a collection of songs written against the backdrop of a road trip to California, each song revealing a bit more of Barny’s journey while continuing to spotlight Barny’s magnetic energy and charisma that have defined his artistry since Day 1.

rising Los Angeles pop artist Keni Titus shares her latest single “if u want”, along with a heavenly music video directed by Keni and her best friend, Victoria.

Returning with her first song of the year, since her track “Come Back” in 2022, Keni has spent the last year writing a lot of new music, using songwriting primarily as a way to reflect on her experiences and relationships to date, and “if u want” is a product of that process.

Give “if u want” a listen here.

The track is beautifully delicate and melodic, touching on intimate themes of companionship and desire. In her heartfelt lyricism, Keni expresses a desire to be all that someone needs her to be, in whatever shape or form that may take. Despite not having met that person yet, she can envision it in all its loving togetherness.

Keni passionately sings, “If u want I could fit right in the gaps of your teeth.

If u want cover my mouth so there’s more air to breathe”

“If u want” is the first single to be taken from her upcoming debut project, which is expected to come out later this year, along with more singles on the way preceding the project’s release. All in all, this track signifies the start of a new era in her career, with many exciting things to come from this artist on the rise.

The DIY style music video accompanying the single, shows Keni fully immersed in nature, surrounded by a flowing body of water and glimmering in the sunlight. It has a blissful, glowing energy about it, which perfectly compliments the track.

Imagine learning your most unassuming co-worker was in a cult. They never hid this from you, but you never expected it. While the members of A Very Special Episode aren’t in a cult per se (keep reading), you may not expect them to be in one of Brooklyn’s loudest bands.

2021’s debut LP, FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE, perfectly captured the band in their most foundational state. That said, 2023’s Freak Me Out could be their magnum opus. “The last record was really a culmination of all the songs we wrote since Chayse (Schutter, drummer) joined the band,” vocalist/bassist Kasey Heisler says. “With this, there was a conscious effort to write an evolved sophomore record.” From the sinister power structures at play in “Heaven’s Gate”, to the 100mph over-indulgence-fueled regret of “Strobes”, to the claustrophobic weight of “Cabin Fever”, Freak Me Out embraces life at it’s weirder edges and explores with abandon.

The noise rock trio is unusually democratic and collaborative. Everyone in the band writes lyrics, music, and has a say over the final product. That established a clear sound on FYHOD. However, Freak Me Out takes that signature sound and explores its limits. “The goal was, ‘let’s take every idea we have to their logical extremes,’”says guitarist Patrick Porter. This is particularly clear on the song “$5 Cover”, an A/B/A/B tribute to the East Williamsburg Econo Lodge (EWEL) in Brooklyn. Despite its uncharacteristically basic structure, artistic choices, like gang vocals, acoustic guitar, and background noise, make the song one of the record’s highlights. “’We’re doing guitar overdubs on that song, when there’s no guitar live?’” Porter demonstrates rhetorically. “Let’s throw in an acoustic guitar too.”

rising indie-folk artist quinnie reveals gorgeous new single, ‘Ribbons’, the latest cut taken from the deluxe version of her debut album, ‘ flounder’. An artist of rare emotion and empathy, her work – floral bedroom pop, acoustic in tone and ambitious in execution – sits in a unique place, both beautiful and highly complex.‘Ribbons’ exemplifies this – gorgeous, refulgent, and striking, it’s a sensual treat, while also packing an emotional punch.

Dropping out after one year of college, this self-described “very sensitive 22-year-old” relocated to LA in pursuit of a dream. Uploading songs – mere sketches at first – to the internet, her powerful search of the truth stood out. Working with executive producer Jake Weinberg – her best friend and roommate – breakout moments like ‘ touch tank’  stole attention with their alluring sweep.

A deluxe edition of debut album ‘Flounder’ is incoming on Columbia, with new single ‘ribbons’ taking pride of place. A song patiently built and earnestly constructed, it contains a hidden Joni Mitchell reference, a doff of the cap from one female artisan to another.

quinnie says of the song:

ribbons is about being exhausted with the time and effort it takes to present feminine, and a desire to just be. i was inspired by joni mitchell’s carey”and the line “got me used to those clean white linens and my fancy French cologne”, considering these motifs as markers of girlhood and feminine cleanliness.

Recalling those early Maggie Rogers anthems, or even the intimacy of Clairo’s more recent work, quinnie is working at an electrifying pace. As a child, she longed to be a marine biologist – now she’s mapping out emotional realms.

Only Fire, the 24-year-old music producer and DJ from Zagreb, Croatia, ignites airwaves with his latest release, “Squirt,” available today at all DSPs. “Squirt” is more than just an erotic good time; it’s a liberatingly honest expression of artistry. • The title track is about freely expressing feelings you typically hide, even from those closest to you, out of fear of their reaction. “Standing up for yourself and communicating your feelings isn’t rude and shouldn’t be something you feel guilty for wanting to do.”

• “Empress of Mars” is for fans of Paramore, beabadoobee, MARINA, Rina Sawayama, Destiny’s Child, Lana Del Rey, Lucy Dacus, and uplifting music behind heartbreaking lyrics. “I want this song to show people, especially women and black women, that it’s not only okay, but also important to exhibit emotions and set boundaries for yourself.” – Morgan Reese

Detroit house and techno legend DJ Minx has officially relaunched her seminal independent record label, Women On Wax, with a brand new compilation that coincides with Pride Month. DJ Minx Presents Queendom Vol. 1 celebrates some vastly underappreciated North American queer dance artists, with new music from Shaun J. Wright, Nita Aviance, Sydney Blu, DJ Cent, Debbie Graham, and DJ Minx herself.

Minx, who came out publicly in 2021, originally founded Women On Wax in 1996 as a collective/mentorship for women DJs and singers from Detroit. In 2001, the label was born with fellow Detroit artist Moodyman’s guidance, with the goal to amplify local and global talent rooted in the legacy of the city’s music. With Minx now finally getting the respect and recognition she deserves, she’s refocusing her efforts, dedicating herself to lifting up the Detroit sound and paying homage to the underground while highlighting new talent.

Women On Wax Recordings has been dormant for a bit, but she’s baaaack! We’ve sorted some music from a few of my dopest friends to present to you for Pride 2023. Queendom, Volume One, is a compilation of tracks produced with love by 5 adorable LGBTQ+ artists. We’re so happy to be back!”   — DJ Minx

Igniting what promises to be a monumental and massive era, 12-time GRAMMY® Award nominee and one of the most influential rappers of all-time Busta Rhymes returns with a brand new single entitled “BEACH BALL” [feat. BIA] via The Conglomerate ENT. / Epic Records today. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

With a soundscape helmed by lauded producer Hitmaka, a thick bassline thumps in the background as BIA sets the scene with an attitude-laden verse. Busta leans into the pocket with charisma and confidence, countering with hyper quotable bars punctuated by his signature punchlines. Their call-and-response culminates on a raunchy, raw, and raucous refrain. “BEACH BALL” bridges eras and styles as a downright dynamic summer anthem. The accompanying visual finds BIA and Busta on the beach as life literally passes by behind them—in addition to cameos from friends such as DJ KhaledRick Ross, CJ, El Alfa, and more! It perfectly captures the energy of the song.

Most importantly, it heralds the arrival of his tenth full-length LP and The Conglomerate ENT. /Epic Records debut album due out this year. The album follows up 2020’s Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, which crashed the Billboard 200 at #7.

Busta Rhymes is back and bigger, bolder, and better than ever!

rising Atlanta rapper Yo Dogg unleashes an intense and infectious new single and music video entitled “Nothing Else” [feat. Duke Deuce] via Everything Is Gold Music (EISG)/Epic Records. Listen to “Nothing Else”HERE.

The track’s ominous production buzzes with horns and gritty 808s as YoDogg tears into the beat with fierce and fiery rhymes. Duke counters with a lyrical one-two punch of his own. This maelstrom only gives way to a jarringly chantable chorus.

It paves the way for more music to come from YoDogg very soon.

The title of my new song, “Better Than You, is pretty self-explanatory. I am better than weird people I’ve dated or encountered in life despite being called crazy or insane or trying therapy or smoking weed. The problem wasn’t me.

I’m trying to say the things that people are really thinking but are too afraid to actually say out loud in a conversation with someone they don’t like. But mostly – I wrote this for myself.

Listen to the edgy Better Than You,” produced by Corey LeRue and Carleton Stone, on streaming platforms everywhere.

Written at a songcamp in 2022 with Willie Stratton and Carleton, I had lost my voice on the second night and it wasn’t coming back. The more rock/screamy voice on the track comes from that experience.

Thanks for listening! I love u. 🖤

indie pop band Daisy the Great share “Looking U Up,” the first song from an EP coming out later this summer. The hooky new song has an accompanying music video out today.

“’Looking U Up’ is a song about dating in the age of social media. It’s about getting stuck on someone that you can’t stop thinking about – whether that’s a crush or an ex or a new fling – and the constant access you can have to them online. It’s such a big time suck to get lost in that made up space of the internet and, a lot of the time, the version of that person that you have in your head isn’t even what they’re like in real life. It’s about being addicted to phone world — it’s bad for you but it’s your vice and you just can’t quit!!!” – Daisy the Great

The new track follows the band’s five-week US headline tour that saw over a dozen sold out dates. It also celebrates the band’s recently announced European Tour that will kick off this August in Ljubljana, Slovenia and continue through to the end of September. The headline tour features stops at festivals including Superbloom in Munich and Reeperbahn in Hamburg.

Last fall the band released their sophomore album ALL YOU NEED IS TIME, generating over 240mm global streams to date.

“There’s something breezy and refreshingly uncomplicated about the indie-pop sounds of Daisy the Great—even when the subject matter of their music delves into the complex.”

Bekah Bossard (she/they) shares “Venus,” a song that couldn’t get more personal to her, where she asks all the questions she wishes she could have asked her mother, who unfortunately lives with MS  (multiple sclerosis).  Bekah will be hosting an awareness night called “Venus” for the MS Society – the UK’s largest charity for people affected by MS – on July 1st at The Old Library in New Cross where she’s invited several important guests.

Listen to it now here; https://bekahbossard.lnk.to/venus

Speaking about the song, Bekah said “I grew up hearing wild stories about her life in London in her 20s, falling in love with my dad and moving to LA with him, and their years traveling the world with the charities they worked for. As she deteriorated and became almost non-verbal, I relied on those stories to feel closer to her. The song came out of longing to be able to have those conversations with her. i hope anyone who hears this can sense how dynamic and loving she is. and that through this release, awareness is raised for the MS Society who offer support to those with MS & are researching an ultimate cure.”

Ed Tait, Executive Director of Engagement and Income Generation at the MS Society, says: “We’re so grateful to Bekah for using her talent to share such personal experiences and raise much-needed awareness about MS. Over 130,000 people live with MS in the UK. It’s relentless, painful and unpredictable, and can also have a huge impact on family and loved ones.

“Our vision is a world where no one has to worry about their MS getting worse. And money raised from events, like Bekah’s, help to bring us one step closer to achieving this.
