Rachel Sennott, Cooper Hoffman and Gabriel LaBelle have signed on to join the cast of Sony Pictures’ upcoming Saturday Night Live movie titled SNL 1975. The project chronicles the chaotic behind-the-scenes story of the long-running sketch comedy series’ very first opening night. LaBelle is set to star in the lead role as creator of Saturday Night Live Lorne Michaels, while Sennott and Hoffman will be playing the roles of former SNL writer Rosie Shuster and former SNL executive producer Dick Ebersol.
The film tells “the true story of what happened that night behind the scenes in the moments leading up to the first SNL broadcast, retelling chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, ‘Live From New York, it’s Saturday Night,’” reads the synopsis.
