brilliant newcomer aimei 媚 (Pronounced EYE-MAY) shares her 4-track debut EP “City’s Violent” that plays and feels very much like a show that fits the Anglo-Chinese’s star-in-the-making’s  ‘pop-noir’ matra.

Speaking about the themes of the City’s Violent EP, aimei 媚 explains Sometimes I feel like I’m battling between the constant struggle of keeping my head above water and chasing a dream in a city where everyone seems so disconnected. Leaving behind unrecognizable past versions of myself to follow a path that’s blinded with lights leaves a rush of uncertainty that’s yet fulfilling at the same time. I have found love and silence whilst making this EP and it’s songs represent my growth in a city so violent.”

Walking through the tracklist, listeners will first land on the City’s Violent’s title track, produced by Boo, and a song that embodies aimei 媚’s first steps as an artist based London via Manchester via Beijing through a rich tapestry of electronic production and traditional songwriting. Track 2 is ‘Clouds,’ a sleek and sophisticated dance moment, produced by Joe Brown, which saw aimei 媚 grace the cover of Spotity’s Planet Rave playlist. Then there’s is the shape-shifting ‘Unfinshed Business,’  also produced by Boo, that flitters gloriously between subtle, emotively moving songwriting and breathtaking syths.  It was with this track that Aimei became one of the current Spotify’s Fresh Finds Artists of the month.  Finishing off the show in style, the EP finishes with aimei 媚’s outro track ‘Dream On’ which is hopeful explosion of sound where her heritage collides in full colour.

Hackney native and multi-disciplinary actor and musician Hope releases a perfect track for the Summer ‘Boujee Babe’. A laid-back melodic production, laced with a jazz influenced hip hop beat that will have you sitting back and relaxing, taking in Hope’s lyrics.

‘Boujee Babe’ is a smooth single for the ladies with Hope flowing effortlessly over the beat, showcasing his lyrical dexterity and how he is a master of rap – so smooth and fluid are his lyrics they just merge perfectly.

Steadily and consistently releasing tracks since 2022, the artist is showing fans his musical talent is here to stay and he can’t be boxed in.

Conjuring an enigmatic, midnight sound, Something In The Rye EP emerges as a capsule into the mind of Lyza Jane; a rich sonic journey balancing upper-echelon R&B and trip-hop alongside Lyza’s hedonistic commentary elevated through love, intimacy and the wonders of existence. Delivering a statement on power and vulnerability, the EP looks set to continue the growing attention around Lyza as one of the UK’s most exciting new voices.

Commanding attention from the offset with lead track “Everyday”, Lyza’s smoky vocals shine front and centre as she effortlessly glides over breezy synths and thumping drum breaks produced by Hyroglifics. The purities in her cadence are contrasted only by the melancholic emotions faced when losing touch with something you love – a complex limbo that transforms vulnerable affirmations into something inspired and universal. Paired with a VHS music video directed by Jasmine De Silva, “Everyday” showcases Lyza’s growing influence while empowering listeners who seek solace in their creative journeys.

Born in London, Lyza moved to Somerset where she earned valuable insights into the creative arts in the company of her stepfather. Moving back to the capital at 18, the young talent became a backing singer for South London’s Alabama 3, where she continued to develop her vibrant artistry in their infamous studio above Brixton Jamm.

Following a pivotal performance at Glastonbury, Lyza shifted focus onto producing, recording and writing her own records while quietly earning stripes alongside alt-rap label Blah Records. With a stream of additive releases under her belt incl. Baby Blue Champion EP, the Londoner unleashed her debut album HOUSEBOUND, featuring UK favourites Lee Scott and Black Josh – establishing her presence across the underground. Performing with Cult Of The Damned across the UK from Thekla Bristol to the iconic Fabric London, Lyza would later release her incendiary cut “For Your Eyes Only” in 2023, a rare link-up featuring LA rapper Vel Nine and Birmingham star Jaydonclover.

Harlem, New York’s rising star AQUTIE releases her new Coolest In The City EP. Containing two brand-new tracks, “Crowd Control” and “Big Bag Bounce,” the release serves as AQUTIE’s debut on Noir Fever, the recently launched label by UK dance stalwart Aluna.

AQUTIE shows the brightest flashes of her innate star power yet on Coolest In The City, delivering two sweltering dancefloor bops that offer a cutting-edge take on New York house music. The new EP is an ode to her city, bringing old-school NY house energy and featuring guest vocals from songstress Paulina Singer while also highlighting AQUTIE’s African roots. “It’s really an ode to being an African New Yorker,” AQUTIE remarks on the release. “The EP is inspired by many instruments you’d hear from my African background.”

On “Big Bance Bounce,” AQUTIE flaunts her dance mega-hit prowess with an addicting organ synth line and a vocal performance that evokes shades of Enur’s all-time ‘00s classic “Calabria,” but with more visceral lyricism. “Crowd Control,” with its funky bassline, wailing sirens, and hook, is a ferocious club weapon that is fit for the massive stages she’s becoming accustomed to.

“Her production, just like her sets, are hard, sexy, tasteful, and fresh all at the same time,” says Aluna. “She has an incredibly broad sensibility and she blends her influences seamlessly. I’m so glad the world gets to hear these tracks, although it has been nice having them all to myself for a bit… ;)” -Aluna

Manchester-based alternative new age duo, vincent’s last summer, have released their debut EP ‘GET RICH QUICK!’ This compelling collection of tracks captures the essence of today’s youth culture, delving into the societal and financial pressures faced by the younger generation. With a blend of raw lyrics and punchy basslines, the EP offers a powerful commentary on the nature of modern life through a grunge-inspired lens.

Australian producer/DJ Kaz James has unveiled his new Never The Same EP, out now via Rose Avenue Records.

Making his debut on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s label imprint, Kaz James has delivered a dizzying twofer with his Never The Same EP. Binding the two tracks by an escapist atmosphere, the EP swirls with mystical percussive elements and silky melodies that complement the dynamics of the pairing. The titular ‘Never The Same’, featuring vocals by Nicholas Routledge of electro pop band Van She, is led by lush piano chords and lustful vocals, while ‘Skin’ mesmerizes with its elongated instrumental builds. Combined, Never The Same is an astonishing whirlwind of rich techno and electronica that will transcend dance floors near and far.

“I’ve been playing this EP out and it hits hard. I spent a lot of time getting these records perfect. It’s been two years in the making so I’m really happy how it all turned out. I couldn’t think of a better home for them than Rose Avenue. I really love the lyrics on ‘Never The Same’, which I wrote with my boy Nicky, the lead singer from Van She. I feel they are really different and you don’t really get those kinds of indie vocals on a lot of electronic records any more. I’m also really in love with the other track on the EP, ‘Skin’. It’s such a moment on the dance floor. l’m excited to get this release out just in time for summer.” – Kaz James

singer-songwriter Ginger Winn shares her dreamy, enchanting debut album STOP-MOTION out now. Alongside the release, Winn shares ethereal track and magical, fairy-filled official video for “Off Course” out now. With STOP-MOTION, Winn captures her life in snapshots that allow her to take stock of her life, find meaning in herself and place in the world, and provide listeners with necessary refuge through soothing production and compassionate, warm lyricism.

STOP-MOTION, the debut album by Ginger Winn is an alluring body of work that offers a bright glimmer of hope in an often bleak world. It captures the artist’s hopes, dreams and experiences as Winn explores her place in the world and who she might become. Winn recorded ten songs in 18 days with David Baron (The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Shawn Mendes), who recently entered the top 5 on both Rock and Alternative producer Billboard charts and produced the wildly popular “Scared to Start” by Michael Marcagi, at his own Sun Mountain Studios in Boiceville, NY. Winn carefully crafted a body of work that encourages reflection, daydreaming and wonder while simultaneously confronting truths, no matter how difficult it may be. The collection, Winn says, “is a 27-minute carousel ride through a renaissance. You will fall in love, build your dreams, rip down reality, face your fears, reconnect with your inner child, and escape this world for a moment while reflecting on your place in it. A reminder to enjoy what you can, when you can, if you can because the carousel ride won’t last forever.”

Reflecting on working with Winn and the completed body of work, Baron shares, “Ginger Winn is a rare diamond. A mature artist who has not released music before (almost unheard of these days). Her style and songs are diverse in style. They are unified by her personality which is both approachable and a bit mysterious. She has an interesting career ahead of her.”

LA folk-pop band Trousdale announce that their latest album Out Of My Mind will be receiving a deluxe version on July 12 via Independent Co. Today’s news is celebrated by the release of fan-favorite “If I’m Honest – Live From LA” and a video of the performance from El Rey Theatre — Stream / Watch

Capturing the ungovernable energy of the audience, the live version of “If I’m Honest” is the amped up older sister of the studio version. With Quinn D’Andrea, Georgia Greene, and Lauren Jones’ masterful harmonies at the forefront, through headphones the listener can understand the magnitude of a Trousdale live show.

The band shared, “‘If I’m Honest’ has been a real favorite of ours to perform ever since we first wrote it. It marked this cool turning point in our songwriting journey, injecting a whole new vibe into our performances. Taking it on the road live was like throwing the ultimate bash every time we hit the stage. There’s just this electric connection with the audience that makes it feel like one big party.”

Continuing they said, “And when it came to picking a track for a live recording, this one was a slam dunk. The energy of the crowd that night was insane, and the song took on a whole new life. We’re so excited to give people a song they can stream that still feels like a real show.”

With over 2 billion streams under his belt and over 14 million monthly Spotify listeners, rising pop sensation Nicky Youre releases his electric new single “Tease Me.”

Get it HERE via Thirty Knots/Virgin Music

“My new song ‘Tease Me’ is the start of a new sound that I’ve been working towards for the last year and a half,” says Nicky Youre“For so long I’ve felt like I was one song away from discovering the new direction I wanted to go towards and when I made this song, I knew this was it. It’s a combination of all the skills I’ve picked up over the last two years from writing with some of the most talented people, to learning my voice, and playing live so many times that I’ve lost count. I wanted to make a song that you can absolutely scream in your car that would also be super fun to see live. This song is about anyone in your life that you can’t live without – for better or for worse. I’m very confident in this one and I hope people love it.”

Brooklyn-based alt-pop singer-songwriter and producer Sabrina Song shares her existential, expansive debut full-length album You Could Stay In One Spot, and I’d Love You The Same out everywhere now, alongside the refreshing, calm track “Before And After.” Join Song as she celebrates the release live in Brooklyn at Union Pool on June 15 with Buffchick and a DJ set by Sofia D’Angelo of MICHELLE. The expressive, earnest LP sees the musician take stock of her life as a twenty-something in New York City–reflecting on the love, loss, growth and gratitude–and what may come of it all.

You Could Stay In One Spot, and I’d Love You The Same marks Sabrina Song’s first official full-length project. Supported in part by the NY Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)’s prestigious NYC Women’s Fund grant, the LP explores themes of existentialism, navigating young womanhood, gratitude, and the intensity of love. Entering 2023 with three EPs under her belt, Song felt ready for the undertaking of a full-length project, deliberately placing each track in its precise place. “I am someone who listens to albums front to back,” Song explains. “I’ve always admired the meticulous thought that’s put into the journey of a project, how the tracklist was decided upon, what story the album is telling as a whole.” She already had a collection of demos in progress when she found out she was awarded a grant from NYFA’s Women’s Fund, turning the project from an idea to a conceivable reality.

Consisting of ten measured, tender tracks with more live instruments than ever before, the album examines Song’s life and growth during the period of great change that comes post-grad––loved ones moving out of her native New York, balancing day jobs, the ebb and flow of old and new friendships. She found herself overcome with gratitude––for getting older, for having loved ones to miss, for being in love, for making music. Written between 2021 and 2023, the album’s tracklist shows a maturation in Song’s subject matter as she herself continues to come into her own. Having written and self-produced all of her work until this point, Song recruited Torna (Daisy The Great, Del Water Gap) to co-produce and engineer to complete her vision of a guitar-driven album.

Before And After,” also out today, sees Song ponder the mantra, “everything happens for a reason.” The track emerged in 2023 during a time Song was reading dystopian fiction novels. Song shares, “I wanted to capture how frustrating it can be to try to process difficult things as they happen. I think I’m someone who tries to rationalize away their feelings sometimes, instead of letting myself feel the full breadth of my emotions.” Song opens the album with this track, and sees it as a deep breath of fresh air before descending into the album’s expansive themes. “Despite all of the negative, I wanted there to still be a sense of hope about the future in the song, with the production feeling like a breath of fresh air.”

Headie One releases the second track taken from his forthcoming new album The Last One. “I Still Know Better” is out now at all DSPs with The Last One set to be released on June 28, 2024.

Pre-order The Last One here and stream “I Still Know Better” here.

“I Still Know Better” is a direct link back to Headie’s 2018 mixtape The One and the track “Know Better” ft RV. Produced by IJD and multi-instrumentalist King Wizard, the song is an emotive and autobiographical look at an intense seven day period for Headie involving police units, paranoia and perilous rivalries: “I nearly threw away my life that week, I had the opps playing hide and seek, got shot twice that week, my popsy see my door fly that week.”

Headie’s new album The Last One completes the narrative of Headie’s story from The One to present day. From pain and regret to progression and finally, a new chapter and a new beginning.  He has touched on some of the subjects and circumstances in previous projects but the lyrics on The Last One aim to dig deeper. The artwork also signifies the arrival at a destination. One where he now stands alone, free from the oppression of his past and on the horizon of a new life.

Rising pop singer & songwriter Paulina reveals her new single, “stranger,” from her forthcoming sophomore EP,  ‘everything’s still,’ out later this Summer.

“stranger” is dark and sultry, opening with atmospheric synths before livening into a cathartic release of frustration. “It’s about the phenomenon of someone close to you becoming a complete stranger,”Paulina says. “It’s haunting, bold, and more angsty than my past songs. It introduces a different side of me, unlocking a new era of music that has been insanely fun to create.”

Paulina is the solo pop project of Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Paulina Ella Levitan. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, her love for music was sparked at a young age. She was classically trained in piano starting at the age of 8 and grew up performing in musical theater productions. After taking a songwriting summer camp in high school, Paulina decided to dive headfirst into making music her full-time career and headed to Miami to study at the University of Miami’s esteemed Frost School of Music.

She launched her solo pop project in 2023 with the release of her single “best friend,” off her debut EP, ‘the show goes on,’ which was produced by her longtime friend and close collaborator Sam Merkin. With her forthcoming sophomore project, ‘everything’s still,’ also produced by Merkin, Paulina continues to introduce the world to her unique, cinematic soundscapes, glistening vocals, and ear-candy melodies.

alternative-pop band Valley – comprised of Rob Laska (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Alex Dimauro (Bass) and Karah James (Vocals, Drums) – release the title track and announce their third full-length album Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden, arriving August 30 through Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada — Stream.

“’Water The Flowers, Pray For A Garden’ is a song about love and loss. It touches on the classic idea that nobody is going to make you happier than yourself, and sometimes we take ourselves too seriously to the point where we become unhappy,” Karah describes with optimism. “Everything feels like a bigger deal than it really is or ever should be. Sometimes the best thing we can do is just laugh at ourselves and let it go.” “Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden” follows “When You Know Someone,” which was released last month and debuted as Valley’s highest streamed songs in its first week of release.

“Water the Flowers, Pray For A Garden” was written in the same session as Valley’s viral hit, “Like 1999” which moved them to take a more pop leaning direction that they pursued with gusto on 2021’s Last Birthday and last year’s Lost in Translation“We had these two paths that we previously didn’t know we had,” Karah reflects on the discovery of the old song, “this feels like us. It feels like a path that finally feels like Valley.”

The title track captures the spirit of the whole record and was the song that inspired working on a larger project. After reworking the song, its overall message sparked a cascade of some of the band’s most authentic songwriting that sprawls across every song. Water the Flowers, Pray For A Garden is a brave exploration of the full spectrum of emotions with an invitation to also surrender control and trust the process.

GWYN LOVE- Growing up in small-town Oklahoma, Gwyn Love knew they were destined for something bigger.

Now, as the first-ever American artist signed to Vancouver-based 604 Records — they’re ready to take on the world.

Born into a conservative family with eight siblings, Gwyn was introduced to music at a young age; picking up the cello at just 5-years-old and writing her first song at 11.

Over the past decade, her sound has continued to evolve — blending what the artist describes as a punk mentality with an electronic-pop vibe.

“I kind of just like to mesh all different styles together. I have a bluntness with my lyrics that you could find in punk music, but once I heard electronic dance music, that’s when my sound really clicked for me,” they explained. “That’s when I really understood how I wanted my music to sound and feel.”

Drawing mainly from their own life experience, Gwyn maintains they hardly ever at a loss for words when it comes to song writing — musical motivation and vision are always priority one.

As a creative deeply invested in every aspect of their sound, and what they puts out to the musical world, it’s their song writing, they maintain, that makes their music special and different.

Remember Summer are Northern Irish hailing Paddy Conn of indie pop band Swimming Tapes and English vocalist Angelina Dove.

Having a mutual indulgence for worlds gone by, Remember Summer use an enchanted distraction of dusty synths and wistful poetry to create their nostalgia drenched dream pop.  Songs that embody a poignant dream-state of long lost summer nights, or the cosy loneliness of a desert road trip on the cusp of September; the leaves will fall, the changing of the seasons inevitable but the magic days, in those last hours of summertime feel like they really could last forever.

The pair met in the summer of ’16 at the Forest Gate cafe where they both worked and started making up songs to pass days in a hot kitchen. Dove recalls, “Summer of ‘16 became the year of collaboration for Paddy and I. We started swapping ideas at work. It all started as a bit of fun really, sort of a distraction to stem boredom but when the cafe went bust the following year and we both got fired we realised that we’d started something we missed more than frying eggs. Since we live 5 minutes away from each other we’ve kept it up. This is ‘Remember Summer’”.

Now, the duo are beginning to unveil their new music, as they enter a fresh chapter. Taking the well-loved Miley Cyrus anthem “Wrecking Ball” and giving it their own folk flair, Remember Summer took the modern pop track and added a vintage-soaked hue. Glowing with a warmth and tinge of nostalgia, the duo use raw synths and echoing vocals to put their own stamp on the hit track.

Speaking of their decision to cover the track, Dove shares, “Metaphorically spot on; I think I’m an ‘exploding doormat’ personality type. A really long fuse, but once it’s lit…Wrecking Ball resonated with me, I feel like I’ve been there. The explosions, the disappointment, indifference even.”

Join Remember Summer on their new journey, with the release of “Wrecking Ball,” out now.

The band couldn’t be more excited to bring new music to fans, with the added flair of a fan favorite female voice alongside lead singer Mandy Lee. Lee says, From the studio to playing it live, every iteration of ‘Other Side’ has been unfiltered fun and the honor of having Charlotte be part of the song took it to new heights! Her talent, heart and powerhouse voice are as awe inspiring as her trailblazing career as an independent artist and getting to share the stage with her was a true masterclass.” On the layered meanings of the track, Lee continues, “Underneath the reckoning of comparison and its unhealthy side effects, the spirit of ‘Other Side’ is gratitude, and that’s exactly how we are feeling now.”

As a longtime fan, Charlotte Sands was thrilled to join the group on this fiery collaboration. Sands shares, “I have been a huge fan of MisterWives for years and am eternally grateful that they asked me to be a part of this song. Holly Munro is an Irish musician reshaping indie pop with her captivating vocal and distinct songcraft and she releases her new EP A Crescendo Ending 21st June. This sophomore EP from Holly includes previous singles ‘Out of Style’, ‘Dead Ends’ and ‘New Years Moon’ as well as unheard track ‘First Prize’. A Crescendo Ending harnesses Holly’s real strength as a songwriter by embracing a warm production and a close look into her unique perspective. Listen to A Crescendo Ending here.

Similar to first single ‘Dead Ends’, new track on the EP ‘First Prize’ was also written after a meditation session. Holly explains, “‘First Prize’ is about longing to be connected to something somewhere that is bigger than myself, and the fear that can come with being unable to articulate what that is”. As well as post-meditation clarity, the new EP delves into the complex dynamics of relationships, self-discovery, and sexuality, offering a nuanced exploration of Munro’s evolving identity. The EP reflects on the blurred lines that emerge as one navigates through youth to young adulthood, touching on themes of personal growth and maturity. Munro shares profound insights into her connection with herself as an artist, her relationship with the world, and delves into the realms of spirituality and sexuality. In essence, this EP becomes an existential journey, providing the most sincere and multifaceted reflection of Holly Munro’s evolving talent as a songwriter.

Speaking of the EP she reveals, “A Crescendo Ending feels really personal to me. It’s a collection of songs that I wrote on my favourite nylon guitar, after moments of meditation or reflection sitting on my bed. In terms of the recording, we tracked everything live, with only a few overdubs – the intention was for the EP to sound more in line with how the songs were actually written, as opposed to my last EP that had a bigger production. ‘Out of Style ‘and ‘New Years Moon’ explore themes of communication and introspection, while ‘Dead Ends’ and ‘First Prize’ delve into vulnerability and longing. Overall the EP is an exploration of personal growth and vulnerability”

We were stoked with how well the album went down but we really wanted to expose some of the more vulnerable elements and fuck with the format a bit. To hear such strong fxmale vocals, and having heavy guitar riffs on cellos/violins etc. really got us excited about these songs again. Some of the versions are stripped right back to just a voice and one instrument. It’s the band like you’ve never heard it before, and really breathes a different life into the songs.”
