INsiders Guide: PYPY, Boldy James & Harry Fraud, Emilio Rojas, Montao, BLOND:ISH, Taylor Acorn…

It’s been nearly a decade since Montreal’s PYPY (pronounced like ‘π π’…with a long ‘i’ rather than long ‘e’, thank you very much) landed with their debut Pagan Day (Slovenly), but the same lunatics behind CPC Gangbangs, Red Mass and Duchess Says are back with Sacred Times on Goner Records. One might recall the thunderous pop of their banger “She’s Gone” carving out a place for itself in the high-end fashion world, becoming the soundtrack to Yves Saint Laurent’s 2016 show. If that album bounced, punched and clawed like Delta 5 covered in dirt and trying to get somewhere in a booted vehicle while dodging lightning rod guitar licks the whole way, Sacred Times takes things to somewhere far beyond the proverbial “next level.”

The king of the collab returns!  Long rumored, but now verified, Boldy James and Harry Fraud will release a new collaborative project, The Bricktionary, this summer.

Details on their collaborative project will be announced soon, but for now, they have released the project’s first single “Cecil Fielder,” which features Boldy’s fellow Motown native Tee Grizzley.

“Cecil Fielder” is now available on all DSP’s!

A frequent collaborator with Illmind and DJ Green Lantern, Emilio Rojas returns with his new project It Always Gets Better, which is now available.

It Always Gets Better features appearances from Dave East, Eto, King Mida, Joey Cool & Timothy Bloom and is produced in its entirety by PLYBCK.

It Always Gets Better is (obviously) about progress.  It’s about growth and being confident that your life, your situations, your skills and talent will improve” Emilio offers.  “It’s one of the best projects I’ve ever put together.  I’m really proud and excited to share this music with the world.”

In addition to releasing his new project, Emilio also released a new visual for “The Narrative,’ which can be viewed below.

Emilio Rojas’ new project, It Always Gets Better, is now available.

Liverpool (UK) producer Montao returns with a cinematic story of fantasy, myths, and legends.
His unique production style shines through, as usual not conforming to sit in one single box, using elements of his favourite influences and sounds.
Bridging the gap again over the ‘pond’, this time teaming up with underground Hip-hop juggernaut Napoleon Da Legend, and the Goddess MC herself, Sa-Roc. Unsurprisingly, both rappers spit nothing but pure fire within the orifice of Montao’s soundscape.
Overall, it’s another strong addition to his catalogue, and showcasing his never ending diversity and courage to explore new ideas.
The new single drops ahead of his debut album ‘Echoes of the Cosmos’ due out Friday 25th October.

BLOND:ISH releases her newest single, “Never Walk Alone,” featuring platinum-selling songwriter and singer, Stevie Appleton. The track is out now via Insomniac Records.

In a world full of broken systems and constant reminders of anxiety and stress, “Never Walk Alone” arrives as a friend to those who might not have anyone or anything to lean on. By blending electronic music, pop, indie, and soul influences, BLOND:ISH aims to reach as many listeners as she can, beaming her compassionate transmissions far and wide in hopes of getting the planet closer to “Happy Happy World” (an inclusive place of sustainable unity, respect, and nourishment).

BLOND:ISH’s unwavering commitment to contributing positivity to the music industry has come to define her as an artist. Whether it’s organizing group hugs before her sets or taking initiative against single-use plastics, BLOND:ISH wants to leave the world a better place than she found it. Her newest single, a song meant to serve as a friend in a time of anxiety or loneliness, is the latest manifestation of her vision.

Firmly established as a go-to talent in the songwriting world, Stevie Appleton has worked alongside electronic music titans such as Tiesto, John Summit, Gorgon City, and more with No. 1 hits around the world An accomplished pianist by a young age, Appleton’s knack for writing melodies and love for dance music earned him a key songwriting role at Spinnin Records immediately after attending college in London. Since then, he’s become a platinum-selling artist.

Pop-punk powerhouse Taylor Acorn is excited to share her new single “People Watching” along with a brand new music video. “People Watching” features fan-submitted content – clips showcasing tender moments with loved ones. Watch it now, here: https://youtu.be/guWSeuJJRHQ.

About the new single, Taylor shares: “I’ll never forget the day that we wrote “People Watching”, and after Emma and I got the demo back we drove around for hours listening to it on repeat in tears (happy tears of course!). I think it truly encapsulates being unapologetically in love and wearing it proudly no matter who you are. I’d also be lying if it wasn’t slightly inspired by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and the hours of videos I’ve watched of them falling in love. I’m obsessed with them what can I say!”

Building on the success of their debut EP Llanast yn y Llofft, this bilingual EP explores our relationship with technology, ego, obsession, self-doubt and that eternal craving for escape. Despite the darkness inherent in the subject matter, Bad Technology (EP) maintains a playfulness throughout, refusing to take itself too seriously.
The influence of the scarred beauty of the North Wales landscape where the songwriting brothers were raised is apparent in the EP’s exploration of just such contradictions; the push and pull of our desire to escape, and our yearning to belong and connect with our roots.
Lo-fi Jones are part of a growing wave of emerging Welsh artists taking their language and culture beyond Wales’ borders. The musical journey is eclectic and, like the mountain roads of their homeland, takes some unexpected twists, navigating the fault lines between folk, rock, and indie synth pop.

Neva Dinova’s Jake Bellows states that the song describes, A person that feels unappreciated and sad and angry, possibly having a psychotic break… commits to making some kind of unknown change. Thinking life could be better. The irony here is that it gets much worse. A very brave fool.

“Part of the reason why we gravitated towards Americana and country music was that the tradition was so full of complicated characters, and storytelling,’ says Grammy- and Tony-Winner Michael Cerveris, who along with Kimberly Kaye, fronts Loose Cattle, a band who have been part of New Orleans, Louisiana’s uniquely diverse and eclectic roots music scene for over a decade. The pair of bandleaders—a one-time couple, enduring friends, and lifelong working artists—put such an emphasis on character development and storyline because, well, they’ve spent most of their lives acting, singing, and playing, logging hours under stage lights on- and off-Broadway, in punk clubs and on Warped Tour stops, and in honky tonks and classic theaters country-wide. And with their upcoming release, Someone’s Monster—out November 1st on Single Lock Records—Loose Cattle have taken the reins and written their own roles for their first LP where original compositions take center stage. They’ve also written in parts for friends like Lucinda Williams, members of Drive By Truckers, and the Grammy-winning Lost Bayou Ramblers who make guest appearances throughout Someone’s Monster.

Patrick Hardy is a spectacular songwriter out of Saskatchewan, Canada. His songs are a combination of everything one loves about emo – nostalgia, twinkly guitar notes, catchy choruses with gang vocals you scream with your friends at a show, lyrics that have you reflecting on choices you made in your past and how you want your future to look.

He’s been releasing singles throughout the past year but is thrilled to announce his new album, ‘tiny’ will be released on September 13. It includes the singles “pressure”, “nothing wrong”, “happen” and “WASTED” which are out now and can be streamed wherever you consume music.
