INsiders Guide: Jan Blomqvist, ROZET, Clara Le Bouar, XIE, Takes an Army…

Electronic music pioneer and live-performance virtuoso Jan Blomqvist has released his third studio album, MUTE, an introspective and thought-provoking concept album that merges reflective lyricism with infectious dancefloor energy. MUTE is available now via Jan Blomqvist’s own label, Disconnected, in partnership with long-time collaborator Armada Music, and arrives amidst an eponymous live tour.

The 12-track album was crafted while on tour, where Jan finds his greatest inspiration, and completed in Berlin. This latest work invites listeners to embrace moments of quiet contemplation in an increasingly chaotic world. While his previous album ‘Disconnected’ highlighted the irony of hyperconnectivity, MUTE ventures further, offering a hopeful narrative that traces a journey from sadness and fear to happiness and self-discovery. The album stands as a profound exploration of introspection in a society where noise often eclipses meaningful connection.

“We’re living in a world where listening has become a lost art,” Blomqvist shares. “MUTE is about finding your inner voice amidst all the madness and noise.”

Miami-based audio-visual artist, singer, and rapper ROZET has released their anticipated debut HEADEP out now via Young Art RecordsHEAD features ROZET’s previously released singles ‘Shadow Wurk,’ ‘Eat’, ‘Thinking A Lot’, and ‘Feelings Aren’t Facts’.

Finding the space where sound, mind, and body converge, HEAD feeds on ROZET’s studies in Psychology, Buddhism and mental health treatment and combines it with their training as a dancer and musician. The 9-track EP is ROZET’s genre-blending attempt to sonically map the brain’s chemical reactions: the rush of adrenaline, a spike in serotonin or a drop in dopamine. Traversing the boundaries of house, synth-pop, jungle, Miami bass and Jersey club, HEAD is riotous and defiant while honing a lyrical complexity and raw attitude that is equally as vulnerable as it is anthemic.

On HEAD, each track tells its own chapter in ROZET’s journey from victim to victor. Centered around themes of empowerment and resilience, the EP is about confronting trauma head-on, and acknowledging the negative tendencies ingrained in our habits. HEAD is a thought-provoking and emotionally-charged debut from ROZET that finds balance between conceptual art and poetic storytelling.

French singer-songwriter Clara Le Bouar shares her dreamy new single ‘Silver’

Listen HERE

Arriving as a warm and sweet love letter to her best friend, ‘Silver’ is an intimate dose of gorgeous alt-pop, depicting the power of female friendship.

With her weightless, honey-eyed vocals, Clara celebrates the deep, platonic love of sisterhood. The kind that surpasses romantic endeavours and carries us through heartbreak, milestones and hardships in one piece.

Sharing more Clara explained: “Silver is more than just a song. I wrote it for my best friend during one of the hardest times in her life. Through the lyrics, I tried to capture her essence and our journey together. Lines like ‘Pretty girl in the mirror, black lace and silver’ capture how I see her—elegant, resilient, and always adorned with her silver jewelry, a contrast to my gold. To me, she is like silver: luminous, strong, and precious’

LA-based producer, singer, and DJ XIE is celebrating Valentine’s Day with the release of her new single ‘LOVE LANGUAGE’ out now via Lady Of The House. ‘LOVE LANGUAGE’ arrives with the announcement of XIE’s upcoming Kick Drum Heart EP due out Spring 2025.

‘LOVE LANGUAGE’  is XIE’s ode to the vibrant energy and spirited community that is imbued throughout the house music scene. Flirty and fun, XIE’s hazy vocals are instantly mesmerizing against the lush synth melodies, thumping basslines, and crisp percussion that pulsate throughout the track’s 3 minutes. Destined for dancefloors far and wide this summer, ‘LOVE LANGUAGE’ is an upbeat and undeniably catchy taste of what’s to come from XIE this year.

“I wrote ‘LOVE LANGUAGE’ as my love song to house and electronic music. No matter what I’m going through, it always lifts me up. Last year was one of the hardest years of my life and there’s really nothing like it. House music has truly become my love language.” – XIE

We are a punk trio of brothers. We grew up and still live in the Hamilton area. We are self taught musicians that have been writing since the start of our musical journey.

Our music comes from a place of passion, love and emotion. On the lyrical end it is filled with a deep sense of meaning.

The passion we have for music, going to concerts is revealed in our music. We have been to a fair amount of punk and ska shows and to be able to write music like that is a blessing.

Although we have been writing songs since 2008, recording only became of recent years. We started the process during covid and it delayed our production obviously, but here we our now spreading new music and hoping to continue writing more.

“It’s a big thing coming,” Marina Sakimoto sings in the lead single off her first record in 6 years. And a big thing is coming indeed because Shunkan, the LA-based rock project of Sakimoto, is excited to announce her third studio album, Kamikaze Girl, out May 6, 2025 via Houston’s tastemaking Rite Field Records. Recorded last year in Joshua Tree, CA and produced by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, Melvins, The Mountain Goats), the incoming record inspects how to put things back together after falling apart. Heralding the announcement is the aforementioned “Hellbound,” a hazy, melancholic track that expects the worst and wants the best. Grounded by Sakimoto’s honeyed vocals, brightly toned guitar riffs reverberate like late-night memories and desire-driven mistakes.

“I like ‘Hellbound’ as the first track of the album because it feels like the initial descent into a transformative period for me,” says Sakimoto. “There’s that space in your life where you start sensing something (or someone) may not be the best for you, but the allure of it keeps you around because… what else do you have to lose? Nihilism—mixed with a lost sense of identity—is one hell of a drug. Sonically, I wanted this track to reflect what I was listening to at the time, which started with revisiting the ‘Lost in Translation’ soundtrack while I was in Japan.”

Alt-Pop artist, Dela Kay, unveils her latest single, “Anybody Else,” a heart-wrenching ballad that captures the bittersweet nostalgia of lost love. Written October of last year in Nick Cozine’s East Nashville studio, the song was born out of deep reflection and raw emotion, making it one of Dela Kay’s most vulnerable releases to date.
The track was co-written by Dela Kay, Nick Cozine, and Whitney Fenimore—the same
trio behind her previous single, “Remedy.” “As soon as the three of us got together, we knew we were going to write a ballad,” shares Dela Kay. “I was still processing a painful breakup just a few months before, and with the Halloween spookiness looming in the air that day, nostalgia was all around us. We started to walk down memory lane with my past relationship, coming up with lyrics detailing my first date, then letting the current reality hit when writing the chorus.”
