Spearheaded by the New York City-based Nathania Rubin, Agora Sci-Fi is a new lo-fi pop project centered around the fictional character “Z”. Z was recently released from prison for unclear crimes against society. Her wealthy family
poisons her with memory-obliterating treats that block out crucial plot points of her own history. For fun she swims in the sludgy East River at night.
A singer-songwriter, artist, and animator, Nathania Rubin most recently designed the music video for Advance Base (formerly Casiotone for the Painfully Alone)’s “The Tooth Fairy”. Agora Sci-Fi taps into lo-fi, indie rock, and pop sensibilities on her forthcoming debut EP, Finding it So Hard to Explain Something So Obvious, out June 6th.
Cenk Esen‘s name has been reverberating around London’s jazz scene for the past several years, establishing him as the go-to keys player for those in the know. The son of pioneering Turkish Jazz-fusion keys player Aydin Esen, he has spent a lifetime perfecting his chops, studying at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music before relocating to London, and becoming one of the most formidable pianists on the circuit, including performances at Ronnie Scott’sand other renowned venues. Following the release of his single ‘23’ (Live In Istanbul), which saw him team up with heralded drummer MckNasty on a nocturnal rooftop in Turkey, and lending his talents to Chaos In The CBD’s forthcoming LP, Cenk now announces his magnum opus, his forthcoming LP ‘Endlessly’ – with the news being accompanied by incendiary new single ‘Air Traffic Controller’.

“You Ominously End is about the shame and isolation of dealing with mental illness, especially when you feel unable to check in on loved ones who are also struggling,” explains vocalist and guitarist Allen Steinberg. “When writing this song, I focused on capturing that isolating experience through vivid storytelling. The tragic theme of the song is contrasted by country/folk elements, creating a jarring effect. This contrast makes it one of our personal favorite tracks by Arm’s Length.”
Based in Savannah, Georgia and New York, Jon Lindsay is a multi-faceted solo artist, producer, and longtime member of the band Benji Hughes (Merge / New West Records). Lindsay’s previous collaborations include releases with Rhiannon Giddens, American Aquarium, Hiss Golden Messenger, The Love Language, and Caitlin Cary among others. This spring, Lindsay tours the U.S. with Benji Hughes, including an official showcase at SXSW, and releases his fourth full length album, Big Stage, via Daffin Records.
Billboard chart-topping composers Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli won their first Emmy at the third annual Children’s and Family Emmy Awards for “My Sails Are Set” feat. AURORA. The song comes from the duo’s intricately crafted soundtrack to Netflix’s global phenomenon ONE PIECE, the most successful live-action adaptation of manga worldwide.
GRAMMY® Award–nominated, Emmy and BAFTA Award–winning composer and recording artist Bear McCreary was awarded Score of the Year and Composer of the Year by The International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) at the 2024 IFMCA Awards. McCreary won Score of the Year for his score for the second season of the Amazon Prime fantasy television series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The score also won the award for its genre, being named Best Original Score for Television, while McCreary was also named Composer of the Year. McCreary’s work in 2024 in addition to The Rings of Power includes the nostalgic 1980s comedy The 4:30 Movie, the horror flick Imaginary, and music for the latest seasons of multiple TV shows such as Outlander, Halo, and Masters of the Universe, which he wrote along with his staff composers at Sparks & Shadows.
This is McCreary’s second Score of the Year victory in three years, having previously won for the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in 2022. These wins also take McCreary’s all-time IFMCA win tally to 12, making him the fifth most-awarded composer in IFMCA history after John Williams, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, and Alexandre Desplat.
McCreary’s winning streak continued this weekend at the 3rd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards, where McCreary won Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Show Open and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Live Action Program for the Disney + television series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Last month, McCreary shared two previously unreleased B-sides from his epic rock concept album, The Singularity. “Escape from the Machines (1995 Demo)” – recorded when McCreary was just 15 years old – and “Supermassive Spiral,” are available everywhere now.
Philadelphia indie rock group Fib are excited to share “PS,” the second single from Heavy Lifting, their debut album arriving April 25, 2025 via Philadelphia-based tastemaker label Julia’s War Recordings. On “PS,” Fib slow things down for about ninety seconds to expose brightly toned guitars, a fractured relationship and pleas for improvement before building into layers of post-punk chord progressions with vocalist Gage Nelson musing, “Need some help getting well / but I can‘t see it getting better on its’ own.” “PS” arrives with a trippy, lo-fi official music video, filmed and edited by Cooper Beaupre and complete with animations from Sebastian Nicholson and Fib’s Logan Adam and Gage Nelson.
“P.S.” is us channeling our shared love for pop and rock and roll – riffs, melodies, hooks and all that,” Fib explain. “It is yet another breakaway from our usual dark and esoteric approach to songwriting. We wanted something simple and fun, and this just came out of us in about 30 minutes in our old basement.”

It is singular and set apart in our catalog because it features some unpublished lyrics of the late great Jim Cherry, former songsmith of Strung Out, Pulley, and Zero Down. Jim passed away suddenly in 2002, but he has been one of our biggest creative inspirations and influences dating back to when we were teenagers in the ’90s,” shares vocalist/guitarist Chad Jensen. “Through the serendipity of punk rock, the universe led us to our dear friend, Wendy, Jim’s widow. Wendy has been BTG family for years now, and she gave us the great honor of having one of our musical hero’s lyrics, which have never before been seen or heard by the world, in one of our songs. When we accepted Wendy’s amazing generosity in using some of Jim’s lyrics, it was a daunting challenge because it had to come out in the wash as a great song. We could settle for nothing less.”
Bedolina is spearheaded by the Philadelphia-based Ken Gould, who crafts eerie experimental rock that furthers the band’s artistic evolution. Gearing up for the release of their second album Sun and Flamingos, Bedolina once again enlisted the collaborative efforts of Miner Street Recordings producers Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey (The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile, Sharon van Etten) and engineer Joe Lambert (Thievery Corporation, The Black Crowes, Cracker) Throughout the upcoming LP, themes of surrealism, the ever-lurking future, and modern contradictions are studied in depth, creating a palette of diverse and digestible tracks.
