What personal experiences or emotions influenced the creation of “Deja Vu,” and how do you feel it resonates with listeners?
Let’s just say, I decided to revisit a past relationship years later and I learnt the hard way that some people never change!
Which gave me the idea of a fairytale gone wrong, and which ultimately led to the creation of “Deja Vu”.
And I believe love is a pretty common everyday emotion that most people feel. And that breakups are something that happens everyday. So “Deja Vu” being a song about growth after a breakup, its bound to resonate with a lot of people!
How do you decide which songs make it onto an album or into your setlist?
It definitely has to go with the mood im trying to bring to that album/setlist. For example my album “Introspective Perspective” had a very dark theme since it explored my past of depression and suicidal thoughts, so it had to have songs that the emotion would fit that narrative or it could have had a completely different dynamic. So mood is extremely important for me.
Can you describe the moment you realized you wanted to pursue music as a career?
During the pandemic I started composing beats on my free time and singing on them for fun and for a way to let my emotions out. And as my skills grew sharper, I decided I wanted to make an album and I just fell hard in love with making music and from there I never looked back. I absolutely love what I do!
How do you handle creative blocks when they arise, and what techniques do you use to overcome them?
They definitely can get frustrating! Im much better at handling them now then I was when I first started. But I usually do things like meditate or workout to help, since it’s usually when im overthinking that I get a block. And doing those things help me keep my state of mind in check, and with a healthy mind I get less blocks.
What has been the most rewarding moment in your music career?
Honestly, I’ll never get tired of receiving a message from a fan telling me how I helped them with my music. As being someone that was once the listener on the other end in the same position, I know that being able to relate to someone when you are going through hard times can mean so much.
How do you incorporate storytelling into your songwriting, and why is it important to you?
When im writing a song I usually find a moment in life I can write about. I usually use a lot of imagery and specific details to really create songs that you can feel like you’re there and to really feel the emotions.
And storytelling is so important because it really sets a song in motion , and it is what creates emotional connection between the listener and the music.
What role does collaboration play in your music, and are there any artists you dream of working with?
I love collaborating with new people for my music! Its important to expand, cause I feel as though when you share a vision with others, the end result is always better. Whether its another artist or producer, every one can bring something new to the table when you collaborate and that’s what’s fun! And for this year I would definitely like to collaborate with newer artists a lot more, so keep your eyes open for that!
And dream collabs, I could go on for days with this… but mainly I would love to work with artists like 070 Shake, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator just to name a few!
