Simon Cowell, the powerhouse behind some of music’s biggest global sensations, is stepping back into the limelight with a fresh venture. In a new Netflix docuseries titled Simon Cowell: The Next Act, set to premiere in December 2025, fans will follow the music mogul on a high-stakes journey to discover the next breakout band. From open auditions to the group’s first official release, the six-episode series offers an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at Cowell’s latest quest to reshape the pop landscape.
For more than two decades, Cowell has been a dominant figure on television and in the music industry. His brutally honest critiques and signature wit made him a household name on shows like Pop Idol, American Idol, The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, and America’s Got Talent. Now, instead of sitting behind the judge’s table, Cowell will be seen hands-on—scouting raw talent and crafting the next potential chart-topping group from the ground up.
The series pulls back the curtain on Cowell’s creative process and highlights his uncanny knack for recognizing future superstars. Through his entertainment company, Syco, Cowell has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of massive pop acts such as One Direction, Little Mix, and Fifth Harmony. His record label Syco Music also became home to well-known groups like Westlife, PrettyMuch, and CNCO before its sale to Sony Music in 2020.
Will Cowell be able to repeat his success and introduce another cultural phenomenon? Simon Cowell: The Next Act aims to answer that question—and perhaps change pop music’s future in the process.
The docuseries is part of a larger Netflix slate of unscripted content set to debut later this year, including new series Let’s Marry Harry and Calabasas Confidential, along with the return of fan favorites like The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On for a fourth season.
Stay tuned for updates, including the exact premiere date for Simon Cowell: The Next Act, as they become available.
