“Real World’ is a collection of sounds that soundtrack growing slowly. Around the time of writing and producing this song, I was going through many changes in my life. It’s about avoiding the illusions we may believe to be true. Illusions we may have grown up with, and in that time I felt like I was hearing and seeing the “real world” for the first time”’

Seasons is the third single from rapper River Nelson’s EP, Mental Notes.

Produced by Florida producer OVL Lorde, Seasons is about River’s belief that all things shall pass, regardless of how tough or challenging they may be. The song is also about being adaptable and resilient through life’s various seasons.

“We just trying to make it from season to season / Cause during the summer the violence increasing / In winter their bitter their hearts will be freezing / Their insides will shiver they’ll kill for no reason / The beauty that spring brings is always so fleeting / The autumn it caught him it brought him a beating,” raps River in the song.

He gave some insight on the single as well.

“Sometimes when going through a difficult time, it can be easy to forget that it won’t last forever, even though it may feel like that,” says River. “Sonically, I wanted the song to be catchy and lighthearted, despite the serious subject matter.”

Queens, NY-based indie/jangle pop singer-songwriter and twee extraordinaire Majorette shares the light-hearted tune “Steaks” out now, where she ponders the worst case scenario over a twinkling melody and the warm strings of a violin. Its accompanying music video, starring Majorette as both a magician and their assistant, is shot on 16mm and styled in the form of black-and-white Méliès silent films. Tonight, Majorette will celebrate the new music live with a variety show at NYC’s The Slipper Room with a real magician, a ventriloquist, an aerialist and Philly’s The Noisy with tickets here.

“Steaks” was inspired by the meat that was in the freezer when Majorette moved into her last apartment. On the story behind the track, the artist shares, “Even though my landlord lived right downstairs, it took me months to return it because I was scared to talk to them. I eventually worked up the nerve to knock on their door, but not before playing out the best and worst case scenarios in my head. One side of me; confident that everything would be fine, and the other imagining the worst possible outcome–this kind of thinking is what the whole song is about. The pun of steaks/stakes makes me laugh and puts most problems into perspective. Maybe it’s not really that big of a deal?”

Collaborators on the track include David Ball (Reclining Nude) on percussion, Bianca Butler on bass, Chris Williams (destroy me!.) on violin, Eli Recht-Appel (Diamond Grinder) and on guitar. Eamon Ford tracked and mixed the songs at Livingrooms in Ridgewood, Queens.

Following the success of her introspective single, How Is It Love,” emerging R&B artist INDVGO returns with a powerful visual counterpart that deepens the emotional world of the track. Directed by Koji, the music video is a glamorous, slow-burning meditation on vulnerability, emotional resilience, inner peace, and the disorienting contradictions that define modern love.

Following the breakout success of her chart-dominating track, “EY”, Kurdish-Iraqi Born, Washington, DC based DJ and producer Sama is back with another instant crowd favorite – “Faya”. the world’s first nuclear bomb was detonated in New Mexico at 5:29 am. Three weeks later, on August 6th, the United States detonated a nuclear bomb over Hiroshima and a second over Nagasaki on August 9th. The two weapons killed between 150,000 and 246,000 people. Since then, nuclear weapons have never been used in conflict. Though never used in war since, the risk of nuclear conflict—whether by intent or accident—remains dangerously high.

Today, on the 80th anniversary of that first test, the Nobel Laureate Assembly for the Prevention of Nuclear Warbrings together Laureates and nuclear experts to confront this crisis. The event concludes with a powerful performance by Kronos Quartet with special guest Allison Russell and the release of two renditions of Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” *Kronos Quartet recorded their parts in Japan, fleshing the final versions out to feature nearly 50 other artists from around the world. The project was introduced with a cosmic and existential Raga collaboration with Terry Riley, who was inspired by David Harrington of Kronos’ ethos and mission, which serves as the B-side titled “Komal Reshab Asavari.”

The lead re-imagination of “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” on this double A-side release is a striking rendition to Dylan’s original. Emily Popli is a singer, pianist and songwriter from the Chicago suburbs. Although she has been writing music for 25+ years, her upcoming debut record Lilith Fair Kid marks her first professionally produced endeavor. With the help of GRAMMY-nominated producer Brandon Williams, it became time to flesh out these nine, deeply personal songs that she believes may have saved her life. Filled with introspective odes to real life struggles and relationships in Popli‘s life, the debut record will be sure to resonate with various audiences.

London’s fearless alt-pop disruptor Coupdekat returns with ‘BURST <3’, the third and final single before the release of her upcoming fourth EP, BLOW HER UP AND SHE’LL BURST! Out July 18th, the same day as its live debut at her previously sold-out club night ‘Club Gunk’, ‘BURST <3’ is a fierce hyperpop anthem inspired by SOPHIE, Charli xcx and Caroline Polachek, packed with razor-sharp synths, bubble-popping beats, and an unapologetically bold vocal performance.

Created alongside longtime collaborator Ives Missing (Ezekiel, Masterpeace, Re6ce), the track dives headfirst into the glitch-pop chaos, offering an unflinching lens on London nightlife. Speaking on the release, Kat says: “This track was super inspired by Brat. I loved the themes of the album and wanted to put my own spin on it. The track delves into a less friendly side of the London party scene—the social bubbles and the never ending performance.”

With ‘BURST <3’, Coupdekat continues to expand her alt-pop universe—confident, electric, and unfiltered. As co-founder of both LOUD LDN and Club Gunk, her presence is undeniable—on the dance floor, behind the decks, and at the heart of an underground community pushing UK pop forward. She’s supported the likes of piri & tommy, Nine8 Collective, and Dream Wife, appeared alongside Charlotte Plank, Willow Kayne, and Issey Cross at Spotify’s Our Generation x LOUD LDN, and was recently the sound of the Apple AirPods 520 campaign in China.

Minneapolis band she’s green are excited to announce their first project in over 2 years, Chrysalis, a new EP available everywhere August 15, 2025 via Photo Finish Records. “Willow” offers a glimpse into the band’s soundscape of fluttering dreams, exploring their decaying perspective on nature, accompanied by a stunning music video.

“‘Willow’ reflects on our dying relationship with the natural world—a relationship that’s not always loving, but formative nonetheless,” she’s green explains. “It’s an energetic song that we love playing live.”
