WomenOutLoud! : Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ Has Arrived with New Single ‘Tears’

Sabrina Carpenter’s latest album, “Man’s Best Friend,” has just been released. Accompanying the launch is a bold, visually striking video for the album’s second single, “Tears,” which emphasizes vibrant imagery and her trademark sharp wit.

In the song “Tears,” she sings, “A little initiative can go a very long, long way. Baby, just do the dishes, I’ll give you what you want.” The music video features Colman Domingo in a playful, “Rocky Horror”-style homage. It shows Carpenter arriving at a remote house, only to be greeted by a quirky cast of characters, including Domingo dressed in drag.

“Man’s Best Friend,” Carpenter’s seventh studio album, contains 12 tracks, with 10 marked as explicit. This aligns with the album’s provocative cover art, which depicts Carpenter on her hands and knees, with someone pulling a fistful of her blonde hair—a bold visual choice that hints at the album’s daring content.

“The album isn’t for the faint of heart,” Carpenter told Gayle King. “But I also believe that even those who are more reserved can listen to it privately and find little moments that make them smirk or chuckle.”

Prior to the album’s release, Carpenter introduced it with the single “Manchild,” which became her first song to debut at No. 1 on the U.S. songs chart. She previously achieved a No. 1 with “Please Please Please,” from her Grammy-winning album “Short n’ Sweet.”

After completing a tour supporting “Short n’ Sweet” earlier this year, Carpenter is set to hit the road again starting in October, with performances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. She also has upcoming shows at Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina, and Brazil next year.
