Paramount Pictures has officially unveiled the title and first details for its upcoming spy thriller starring Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot. The project, based on the bestselling novel series by Janet Evanovich, will be titled Recovery Agent.
According to Deadline, the film adaptation is being developed by Paramount alongside Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz through Carol Mendelsohn Productions. Evanovich’s Recovery Agent book series was launched by Atria Books in 2022 with the release of The Recovery Agent, followed by its sequel The King’s Ransom, which hit shelves last November.
Gadot is set to star in the film and will also serve as a producer alongside her partner Jaron Varsano under their Pilot Wave banner. The actress is no stranger to the spy genre, having previously headlined Netflix’s 2023 action thriller Heart of Stone. She was most recently seen in Julian Schnabel’s In the Hand of Dante, starring opposite Jason Momoa and Oscar Isaac. Gadot also has the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios action thriller The Runner on her slate.
The official book synopsis teases a high-stakes story centered on Gabriela Rose, a skilled recovery agent who specializes in retrieving lost treasures, stolen heirlooms, and missing assets. Cool under pressure and highly trained in weaponry, Gabriela is known for getting the job done. However, her latest mission hits close to home, as she’s forced to take on a personal assignment to save her family’s home from being wiped off the map—if they can’t raise a massive sum of money in time.
