Amazon MGM Studios has officially dropped the first exclusive image from its upcoming Tomb Raider TV series, created by Fleabag mastermind Phoebe Waller-Bridge. This highly anticipated adaptation marks a new chapter in the iconic video game franchise, bringing Lara Croft to life on the small screen.

The debut photo offers fans an exciting glimpse of Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, making her the third actress to portray the legendary adventurer in live-action, following Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. Production for the Tomb Raider series has officially begun, with the first photo captured on the backlot of the show’s filming stages. This new adaptation promises to deliver an epic, globe-trotting adventure, staying true to the spirit of the original Crystal Dynamics video game series.

The series boasts an impressive cast including Sigourney Weaver (Alien), Martin Bobb-Semple (Pandora), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), Bill Paterson (House of the Dragon), Celia Imrie (Nanny McPhee), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), John Heffernan (A Gentleman in Moscow), Paterson Joseph (Wonka), Sasha Luss (Anna), Juliette Motamed (We Are Lady Parts), and August Wittgenstein (Das Boot).

Created, written, and executive-produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge—who has been attached to the project for over three years—the series is also executive-produced by Chad Hodge and director Jonathan Van Tulleken. The project involves collaboration with industry giants including Crystal Dynamics, Legendary Television, and Amazon MGM Studios. Other producers include Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and more.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, early descriptions suggest a Tomb Raider series packed with action, adventure, and international escapades, reminiscent of the beloved video game narrative.

This new Tomb Raider TV series continues the legacy of live-action adaptations of the popular Crystal Dynamics game series, following Angelina Jolie’s 2001 and 2003 Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movies, as well as Alicia Vikander’s 2018 reboot.

Fans can look forward to seeing Sophie Turner embody Lara Croft in this exciting Amazon MGM Studios production, which promises to deliver a fresh and thrilling take on the iconic video game heroine.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Amazon Tomb Raider series, coming soon to your screens!
