INsiders Guide: Siena Fantini Explores the Depths of Young Love with “Claustrophobia”

Pop singer-songwriter Siena Fantini begins 2026 with her latest single, “claustrophobia.” Showcasing her soulful vocals and intimate storytelling, this track is her first release since her debut EP, what is it with me?

“claustrophobia” delves into the emotional struggle of loving someone deeply while feeling unsure and confined by your own uncertainties—despite that love being right in front of you. The song is now available for streaming and download across global platforms.

The song captures the essence of young love fading away. Siena Fantini writes with the perspective of someone on the verge of letting go, yet with a sense of innocence that holds her back. As an acoustic-pop piece, it offers a sneak peek into her upcoming EP, scheduled for release in summer 2026. This track signifies a period of growth for Fantini, who crafted it in a new way—by experimenting with different tunings.

“’claustrophobia’ was my first time writing in an alternate tuning, and it truly changed my approach to music,” she shares. “Open D is beautiful and has encouraged me to explore more as I write. It’s been a really cool experience.”

The song reflects her internal confusion—caught between not knowing what she wants in life and realizing that what she has might be too good, almost suffocating. Fantini describes the creative process as an introspective journey, saying, “Writing ‘claustrophobia’ was eye-opening. It helped me put into words these confusing feelings—feeling loved and cared for, yet also trapped and overwhelmed. Between life, school, and future worries, it can all feel chaotic.”

Through lyrics like “You would treat me too well, so now I have to go,” and “Am I running from you, or from myself?”, Fantini conveys the vulnerability of falling for someone while fearing to fully embrace it. Her use of Open D guitar tuning creates a warm, rich sound, complemented by deep drum patterns and expressive vocals that embody the pain of feeling overwhelmed and disoriented.

Produced by Sean Hurley (John Mayer, Lana Del Rey), who also played bass, the track features programming by Ben Rose and keyboards by Taylor Mackall (Lizzy McAlpine, Marcus Mumford, Joni Mitchell). Grammy-winning guitarist Andrew Synowiec (Alanis Morissette, Lil Nas X) and drummer Kiel Feher (Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, Lauv) contributed to the instrumentation. The song was mixed and engineered by Grammy winner Darrell Thorp (Foo Fighters, Radiohead) and mastered by David Ives.

Hailing from Los Angeles, 16-year-old Siena Fantini has been immersed in music her entire life. “Music has always been a part of who I am,” she recalls. Starting out in musical theater, she later took up vocal and piano lessons, eventually falling in love with the guitar and discovering her passion for songwriting. Influenced by artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, Role Model, The 1975, and Jeff Buckley, she realized she could channel her own experiences into her music. Her heartfelt, uplifting style has earned recognition from platforms like Live Nation’s Ones To Watch, Earmilk, CLOUT, and She Makes Pop Music.

“claustrophobia” encourages listeners to embrace discomfort and find reassurance in uncertainty, reminding us that not having all the answers is perfectly okay. The single is now available on all major digital platforms. Follow Siena Fantini on Instagram and TikTok @sienafantini for the latest updates on her music and upcoming releases.
