Olivia Rodrigo is deeply expressing her emotions with “Drop Dead,” the lead single from her highly-anticipated new album, You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love. In the music video, she roams around Versailles in Paris, guitar in hand, headphones on, passionately performing. She sings, “You lookin’ like an angel on the walls of Versailles,” and adds, “The most alive I’ve ever been.”
Rodrigo announced “Drop Dead” on April 7. Leading up to the album release, she’s been teasing the track on Instagram, sharing short clips—one featuring photos of Guinness pints with the caption “I hope you never finish that beer,” and another showing her riding a train, with the words “It’s feminine intuition.”
Her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love (affectionately called GSIL by fans), is set to arrive on June 12 via Geffen Records. This follows her 2023 album Guts and her debut Sour from 2021. “No matter how hard I try to write love songs, they always come out tinged with a little melancholy,” Rodrigo shared upon announcing the record. “I’m so proud of this album and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
As of now, Rodrigo hasn’t announced tour dates for GSIL, but she will be performing on Saturday Night Live on May 2, a busy schedule following her successful Guts World Tour, which wrapped in August 2025. Her year touring the festival circuit was highlighted by her performance at Glastonbury, captured on the double LP Live at Glastonbury.
