First Look At Netflix’s Live-Action Scooby-Doo TV Show

Netflix has announced the title and released the first image of its upcoming live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo, based on the beloved animated series. The new series is officially named Scooby-Doo: Origins and is described as a contemporary reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving team of teenagers and their special dog.

According to the official synopsis, “During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne become involved in a spooky mystery involving a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that might have witnessed a supernatural murder.” The story follows them, along with the practical and scientific Velma, and the enigmatic, handsome new guy Freddy, as they attempt to solve a case that drags each of them into a chilling nightmare, threatening to reveal their secrets.

The first promotional photo confirms that production is underway on the series. It provides a glimpse of the main cast, including Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones. The series also features Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser, known for roles in Cruella and Black Bird.

Scooby-Doo: Origins will consist of eight episodes, created by showrunners and writers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. The series is based on characters from Hanna-Barbera and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Appelbaum and Rosenberg are also serving as executive producers through their company, Midnight Radio, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, and Jeff Pinkner.
