Ruel Releases “Hate Myself”

Australian singer-songwriter Ruel is back with a powerful new track, “Hate Myself,” now available via Giant Music. The song is accompanied by an official music video — watch HERE. Fans can also look forward to a headline tour across the UK and Europe this October, marking an exciting chapter in his musical journey.

Following the massive success of “Don’t Say That,” “Hate Myself” serves as the second single ahead of Ruel’s upcoming double-album project. This new release hints at a fresh, uncharted sound while maintaining the vulnerability that has become his signature. At its core, the song explores the painful reality of being stuck in a toxic, self-destructive relationship — knowing it’s hurting you but feeling unable to walk away.

Ruel recalls the song’s creation: “I wrote this one on the day I met Kenny and Jackson. When you meet someone for the first time, you’re just trying to get to know each other. After 5-6 hours in the studio, we had almost nothing. Then Kenny threw a hail Mary, and we bounced ideas around — next thing we knew, we had the whole song in about 30 minutes. Since that day, every session with Kenny has flowed so well, and we’ve written a significant part of Part Two of the album together.”

Co-written with industry heavyweights Kenny Beats (known for work with Dominic Fike, Vince Staples, Remi Wolf) and Jackson Morgan (Justin Bieber, Macklemore), “Hate Myself” captures the tumultuous feeling of loving someone who is ultimately bad for you — choosing to stay until resentment takes over.

Ruel has just wrapped the second leg of his 2026 North American “Kicking My Feet” tour, supported by UK-born singer-songwriter Arthur Hill, emerging soul-pop artist Chelsea Jordan, and San Francisco-native Mercer Henderson. Earlier this year, he also toured South America, performing at the Lollapalooza festivals in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as at the Estero Picnic Festival in Colombia.

To celebrate the release of his double-album era, Ruel has announced the “Kicking & Screaming Tour,” set to hit the UK and Europe this October. The tour runs from October 1 to October 30, 2026, with support from singer-songwriter Sadie Jean. Artist presale begins Tuesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local time, with general on-sale opening Thursday, April 30 at 10 a.m. local time. Full tour routing is below.

The “Kicking & Screaming” album got off to a strong start last month with the release of “Don’t Say That,” and promises to deliver ten new tracks as Ruel continues to build on his “Kicking My Feet” journey. The project features collaborations with acclaimed producers and songwriters, including Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, One Direction), John Ryan (Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes), Kenny Beats, M-Phazes (Demi Lovato, Eminem), Dan Wilson (Adele, Niall Horan), and Leroy Clampit (Justin Bieber, Lily Allen). The album is available for pre-order HERE and will be released for streaming on June 12.

As Ruel continues to captivate audiences worldwide, his latest release and upcoming tour mark a significant milestone in his evolving artistry, promising a compelling blend of vulnerability, growth, and musical innovation.
