Ariana Grande’s next chapter is blossoming. The pop icon officially announced on Tuesday (April 28) that her eighth studio album is titled Petal, revealing its release date and cover art on social media.

The album cover is a minimalist, black-and-white photograph of Grande, capturing her in a rare moment with her hair down in soft brunette waves cascading over her face as she smiles broadly. In the caption, she shared that Petal — which she co-wrote and co-produced with longtime collaborator Ilya — will be released on July 31.

According to its countdown page on Spotify, the album will include 12 tracks. In a statement, the Grammy-winning artist described Petal as “something that is full of life,” symbolizing “growing through the cracks of something cold, hard, and challenging.” This album follows her 2024 release Eternal Sunshine, which reached the top of the Billboard 200 and produced hit singles like “Yes, And?” and the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” Grande is preparing for a tour to support Petal, with her first show scheduled for June 8. The tour will run until September 1 and will conclude with a series of 10 shows in London.

Although Grande previously indicated she wouldn’t be releasing new music soon, preferring to focus on her acting career, she has recently hinted that she has changed her mind. Earlier this month, she confirmed she was back in the studio after leaving a subtle clue in her Brighter Days hotline message, which said, “We’re counting down the 8s — oops! I mean, the days [until tour].”
