The doctors of Sacred Heart are back for another round of laughter, friendship and emotional hospital drama, with ABC unveiling the official trailer for Season 2 of the revived Scrubs.
Zach Braff returns as Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian alongside Donald Faison as Dr. Christopher Turk and Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid. Having moved well beyond their days as interns, the trio now find themselves in the position of guiding a new generation of doctors while attempting to navigate their own complicated personal and professional lives.
The new trailer continues to showcase the familiar chemistry between J.D. and Turk, with their long-running friendship once again providing plenty of the show’s trademark comedy. Elliot is also settling into her role as a more experienced doctor, while the hospital remains as chaotic as ever.
However, Season 2 won’t be relying solely on comedy. John C. McGinley returns as Dr. Perry Cox, whose health becomes an important part of the upcoming storyline following the autoimmune disorder revealed during the first season. J.D.‘s relationship with his longtime mentor takes on a new dimension as he becomes increasingly concerned about Cox’s wellbeing.
The trailer also previews the return of several familiar faces, including Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa and Christa Miller as Jordan Sullivan. Scott Foley is also back as Elliot’s former boyfriend Sean Kelly, creating another potential complication in Elliot’s personal life.
Meanwhile, the revival continues expanding its newer cast. Ava Bunn’s Sam Tosh has been promoted to a series-regular role, while Keyla Monterroso Mejia joins as surgical nurse Mimi. Former Saturday Night Live writer and Please Don’t Destroy performer John Higgins is also joining the season as Grant, a chief resident who appears set to become a new thorn in J.D.’s side.
The returning series continues to balance the workplace comedy that made Scrubs a fan favourite with more mature stories about friendship, relationships, career pressures and the realities of working in medicine.
Season 2 of the Scrubs revival will premiere with two episodes on September 30, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
With J.D., Turk and Elliot now serving as mentors rather than interns, the new season looks set to give fans another dose of the humour, heart and hospital chaos that defined the original series while continuing to build its new chapter.
