Two generations of pop royalty are about to collide on the dancefloor, with Madonna and Charli XCX officially teaming up for a new remix of “Danceteria.”
The collaboration was revealed on September 18, following weeks of speculation surrounding the two artists and their increasingly visible connection. According to the announcement shared by Pop Crave and the accompanying teaser, “Danceteria (Afterhours)” will arrive on September 24.
The news comes after Madonna and Charli had been dropping hints that something could be happening between them. Madonna previously teased fans with a cryptic message referencing Charli, while Charli responded in a way that only fuelled speculation about a potential collaboration.
Now, that mystery has officially been solved.
A Meeting of Two Generations of Club Culture
The collaboration feels particularly fitting given the musical worlds both artists occupy.
Madonna’s “Danceteria” takes its name from the legendary New York City nightclub that played an important role in the city’s downtown music scene during the early 1980s. The track itself reflects Madonna’s connection to that period of her career and the underground culture that helped shape her artistic identity.
The song has already received an official remix from DJ and producer Harry Romero, whose seven-minute reworking was released in August.

During the night, Charli joined Madonna around the DJ booth as Madonna played selections from her catalogue and music from her then-upcoming album. The evening also included the debut of the full version of “Danceteria.”
That appearance quickly became another piece of the puzzle for fans who suspected the pair could eventually work together.
Their friendship and shared appreciation for club culture have now culminated in an official musical collaboration.
Madonna’s ‘Confessions II’ Era Continues
“Danceteria” comes from Madonna’s Confessions II, continuing an era that has seen the pop icon once again embrace dance music and the nightlife culture that has been central to much of her career.
The album has also already generated several remix opportunities, including the Harry Romero version of “Danceteria.” Apple Music currently lists the Romero remix among Madonna’s 2026 releases.
Adding Charli XCX to the track gives the song another connection to contemporary pop’s club scene while allowing Madonna to continue expanding the world surrounding Confessions II.
For Charli, meanwhile, the collaboration places her alongside one of the artists who helped establish many of the pop and dance conventions that continue to influence today’s music.
