‘Girls’ Is Coming Back: HBO Orders Five-Episode Revival

HBO is bringing back Girls with a five-episode limited series, reuniting most of the original cast for a return to Lena Dunham’s hit comedy. The network has confirmed the news in an announcement video, sparking excitement among fans of the beloved series.

Dunham will reprise her role as Hannah Horvath, alongside Allison Williams as Marnie Michaels, Jemima Kirke as Jessa Johansson, and Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna Shapiro. Andrew Rannells will also return as Elijah Krantz, the character he played as a recurring guest star during the show’s first three seasons before becoming a series regular in Season 4.

One notable absence is Adam Driver, who portrayed Hannah’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Adam Sackler. In her recent memoir, Famesick, Dunham described Driver as “verbally aggressive” during the production of the original series. His involvement in the upcoming revival has not been announced.

Production is scheduled to begin next year, marking a significant milestone for the series. The revival will arrive 15 years after Girls first premiered and 10 years after its sixth and final season concluded.

Dunham, who also created Netflix’s Too Much, which premiered last year, has previously expressed interest in revisiting the world of Girls. With the limited series now officially in the works, fans will soon have the chance to reconnect with the characters who defined a generation of television comedy.
