Olivia Rodrigo is getting into the festive spirit, announcing her first-ever original Christmas single, take me home (4 christmas), set to arrive on November 5 alongside an official music video featuring some familiar faces from television and comedy.

The Grammy-winning pop star will release the new track through Interscope Records, marking a seasonal first for an artist whose catalogue has explored everything from heartbreak and jealousy to the complexities of falling in love. The single was co-written by Rodrigo alongside longtime collaborator Dan Nigro and acclaimed songwriter Amy Allen, with Nigro also taking on production duties.

The accompanying music video will see Rodrigo joined by Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and Saturday Night Live comedian Ben Marshall. The unexpected combination promises an entertaining visual addition to Rodrigo’s first original holiday release, although further details about the video’s storyline have yet to be revealed.

Both the song and its music video are scheduled to premiere on November 5 at 5 p.m. PT. Fans will also be able to get their hands on physical editions, with exclusive seven-inch vinyl and cassette releases planned to coincide with the single’s arrival. The vinyl edition will additionally be available at Target stores from November 6.

The announcement arrives during a particularly successful year for Rodrigo. Her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, continued her evolution as a pop artist, building on the success of her breakthrough releases SOUR and GUTS. Earlier this year, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, further cementing her position among pop music’s leading contemporary voices.

Rodrigo has also kept fans engaged through new collaborations and live performances. In October, she teamed up with Chappell Roan for a remix of “expectations,” adding another major moment to an already busy musical year. The collaboration followed the release of her latest album and has helped maintain momentum around her current era.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo is taking her music to audiences around the world on The Unraveled Tour, supporting her third studio album. Beyond the stage, she has also expanded her influence through Daisy Chain Fields, her women-led music festival in California, which raised millions for organisations supporting women and girls.

With take me home (4 christmas), Rodrigo is now turning her attention to the holiday season. Rather than revisiting an established Christmas classic, the singer is introducing an original song that could become a new addition to fans’ festive playlists.

The release also reunites Rodrigo with Nigro, whose creative partnership with the singer has helped shape the sound of her previous albums. With Allen joining the songwriting team and Nixon and Marshall appearing in the video, the project brings together a mix of established creative collaborators and unexpected on-screen talent.

Whether the track becomes a seasonal favourite remains to be seen, but Rodrigo’s first original Christmas single gives fans another reason to celebrate as the holiday season approaches.

Take me home (4 christmas) arrives November 5, accompanied by its official music video. Exclusive seven-inch vinyl and cassette editions will also be available, with the vinyl reaching Target stores on November 6.
