Disney+ has released the trailer for The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror, a special episode that puts a Springfield spin on the unsettling world of sci-fi technology and psychological horror.
As the title suggests, Yellow Mirror is a parody of the hit anthology series Black Mirror. The special serves as the 18th episode of The Simpsons Season 37 and features two bizarre stories in which seemingly harmless technology takes a disturbing turn for Homer and Maggie.
According to the official synopsis, the first story centers on a defective lamp that begins exposing a heartbreaking truth about what Homer believes to be reality. The second follows Maggie as she forms a bond with an AI-powered tablet—only for the technology to eventually take control of her.
The 45-second trailer begins with what appears to be an ordinary birthday party outing. When Maggie becomes restless, Marge gives her a tablet to keep her occupied. Homer jokingly celebrates the solution, saying, “You found the baby’s off switch!”
Things quickly become much darker. The trailer’s narrator introduces “two twisted tales from The Simpsons,” before Bart is shown falling through the blackboard into an endless, shadowy world.
The narrator then warns, “Anything can happen in the Yellow Mirror,” as the footage transitions into the eerie title card.
With its combination of The Simpsons’ signature humor and Black Mirror-style technology nightmares, Yellow Mirror looks set to deliver a darker and more surreal episode than usual.
