The official US trailer for Bunker, the highly anticipated psychological thriller and social satire starring Paul Dano, Penélope Cruz, and Javier Bardem, has finally arrived, offering a gripping glimpse into a world of wealth, paranoia, and moral conflict.
Written and directed by Florian Zeller, the film follows Miguel Moreno (Bardem), a successful Spanish architect based in London, whose life takes an unsettling turn after he accepts an extraordinary commission from a wealthy tech billionaire. Dano plays Andrew, the paranoid billionaire, while Cruz portrays Sofia, Miguel’s wife of 17 years. Stephen Graham also stars as Toby, the couple’s intrusive and unsettling working-class neighbor.
Released by Sony Pictures Classics, the official trailer introduces a marriage increasingly threatened by ambition, fear, and shifting values. When Miguel agrees to design an elaborate underground survival bunker for Andrew, Sofia begins to question the project’s implications and what her husband’s decision reveals about the person he is becoming.
As Miguel becomes more deeply involved in the billionaire’s world, the couple finds themselves surrounded by an atmosphere of mounting dread and suspicion. Their relationship begins to fracture under the pressure, while Toby’s increasingly intrusive presence adds another layer of unease to the already tense situation.
With its exploration of class divisions, wealth, and human vulnerability, Bunker promises a psychological thriller that goes beyond conventional suspense. The film brings together an acclaimed cast, with Patrick Schwarzenegger also appearing as Jeremy.
The movie premiered in the main competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in September 2026, where it competed for the prestigious Golden Lion. Following its Venice debut, Bunker also screened at film festivals in Toronto, Zurich, and London.
The film reportedly made headlines in Venice after receiving a standing ovation lasting 16 minutes and 30 seconds, marking one of the festival’s longest reported ovations at the time. Its reception has also placed it among the most talked-about premieres of the festival season.
Following its international festival run, Bunker is expected to begin an awards-qualifying release on December 11, 2026. With its unsettling premise, layered social commentary, and powerhouse performances from Bardem, Cruz, and Dano, the film is shaping up to be one of the intriguing thrillers to watch this awards season.
