Pretty Little Liars stars Lucy Hale and Ian Harding are bringing their on-screen chemistry back for the holiday season in The 12 Dates of Christmas, a new romantic comedy that promises festive fun, disastrous dates and an unexpected chance at love.
The newly released trailer offers a first look at the Hulu film, which reunites the actors nearly a decade after they became fan favourites as Aria Montgomery and Ezra Fitz in the hit series Pretty Little Liars.
Hale stars as Christina Walker, a successful shop owner who has dedicated much of her life to her career, leaving little room for romance. With her parents concerned that she might spend another Christmas alone, Christina decides to make a promise to herself: she will never be single on Christmas Eve again.
However, finding the right person proves easier said than done.
With the holiday season approaching and Christina still without a partner, her best friend Molly, played by Kahyun Kim (St. Denis Medical), comes up with an ambitious plan. Christina must go on 12 dates over 12 weeks, giving her until Christmas Eve to find someone special.
What follows is a chaotic run of romantic encounters that are anything but magical. From bizarre behaviour and awkward conversations to dates that take increasingly unexpected turns, Christina quickly discovers that navigating the modern dating world can be a festive nightmare.
As the disastrous dates begin to take their toll, Christina starts questioning whether finding love is worth the trouble. Just when she is ready to give up, she meets Peter Grant, played by Harding. Their first encounter sees Peter catch Christina as she struggles with an oversized candy cane, hinting at a potential holiday romance. There is just one complication: Peter may already be involved with someone else.
Whether the pair can find their way to each other remains to be seen, but the reunion is already generating excitement among fans of the beloved teen drama.
Hale and Harding have also embraced their return to the screen together. Reflecting on the difference between their new characters and their Pretty Little Liars romance, Hale previously joked that the pair play characters of the same age this time around. She also celebrated their reunion on social media, describing them as “a little older and wiser but the same two idiots!”
The film also features Penelope Ann Miller and Paul Ben-Victor as Christina’s parents, alongside Greer Grammer and the wider ensemble cast.
Directed by David Lipper, who co-wrote the screenplay with Seth Howard, The 12 Dates of Christmas blends the familiar appeal of a holiday romantic comedy with the unpredictability of modern dating.
With a festive countdown, a string of disastrous dates and a reunion that will appeal to longtime Pretty Little Liars fans, the film looks set to deliver a new seasonal romance.
The 12 Dates of Christmas premieres on Hulu on November 6, 2026.
