Trailer: Andy Richter Enters Dark Territory in Crime Thriller ‘After the Silence’

Andy Richter is stepping into a darker, more dramatic role with After the Silence, an upcoming crime thriller that promises a tense investigation filled with secrets, deception and dangerous encounters. The newly released trailer offers a first look at the film, which follows a former true-crime podcaster determined to uncover the truth behind his sister’s disappearance.

Best known for his comedy work and longtime collaboration with Conan O’Brien, Richter takes on a different kind of character in the film, joining a cast led by Dónall Ó Héalaí.

In After the Silence, Ó Héalaí plays Ethan Walker, a former true-crime podcaster who returns to his New England hometown after his sister vanishes without a trace. What begins as a personal search for answers soon pulls him into a disturbing web of small-town secrets, manipulation and violence.

As Ethan follows the trail, his investigation leads him towards Richard Ashwood, a powerful and mysterious man who may know more about the disappearance than he lets on. Meanwhile, Ethan encounters Brooke Sawyer, a grieving widow whose connection to the case could make her an important ally as he gets closer to the truth.

Richter portrays Tom Holloway, a local man whose knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance raises further questions. With trust becoming increasingly difficult to establish, Ethan must navigate a dangerous investigation where the people around him may not be telling the whole story.

The trailer teases an increasingly unsettling mystery, with Ethan’s search placing him in escalating danger as buried secrets begin to surface. Beyond its crime-thriller elements, the film also explores grief, guilt and the ways personal loss can influence memory, trust and our understanding of what really happened.

Directed and written by Michael Marantz, After the Silence features an ensemble cast that includes Kevin Pollak, Tracy Spiridakos, Karren Karagulian and Melia Kreiling alongside Richter and Ó Héalaí.

Distributed by Well Go USA, the film runs approximately 99 minutes and is rated R in the United States.

After the Silence is scheduled to arrive on digital platforms and on demand on December 18, 2026.

With its focus on a missing-person investigation and the unsettling secrets hidden within a seemingly familiar community, the film looks set to deliver a suspenseful addition to the crime-thriller genre.
