Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for Criminal, an upcoming crime drama starring Charlie Hunnam, Emilia Clarke, Adria Arjona and Luke Evans. Based on the acclaimed graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, the new series promises a gripping story filled with family secrets, dangerous heists, murder and complicated loyalties.
The newly released footage offers a first look at a criminal underworld where the past is never far behind. At the centre of the story is Leo Patterson (Charlie Hunnam), a man attempting to escape the criminal environment in which he was raised. However, his efforts to leave that life behind become increasingly complicated when a series of events forces him to confront his history.
Leo’s best friend, Ricky Lawless (Gus Halper), has different ambitions, determined to follow in the footsteps of his father and establish himself as a legendary outlaw. When a heist goes disastrously wrong, the two friends find themselves facing the consequences of decisions that reach back to their childhood.
Adria Arjona also features as Greta, a car thief from Leo’s past, while Luke Evans plays Tracy Lawless, Ricky’s brother. Having chosen military service over prison two decades earlier, Tracy is forced back into the criminal world when Ricky becomes involved with the wrong people. His return brings another layer of family conflict and raises questions about loyalty, responsibility and the consequences of past actions.
The series will be released in two parts, with each instalment consisting of four episodes. The first chapter, titled Coward, arrives on Prime Video on January 13, 2027, followed by the second chapter, Lawless, on January 27, 2027.
The ensemble cast also includes Richard Jenkins, Kadeem Hardison, John Hawkes, Logan Browning, Michael Mando, Garrett Hedlund, Patrick J. Adams, Pat Healy, Taylor Selé, Aliyah Camacho, Marvin Jones III and Michael Xavier.
With its interconnected stories, morally complicated characters and crime-driven narrative, Criminal looks set to bring Brubaker and Phillips’ celebrated graphic novel universe to the small screen.
Criminal premieres January 13, 2027, on Prime Video, with its second instalment arriving January 27.
