THE HIT LIST

The Hit List : 2 Chainz, Quavo, Adam Turley, One Republic, Sampha, Kid Ink And More….

2 Chainz – “Bigger Than You (feat. Drake & Quavo)”: “Bigger Than You” is the brand new single from rapper 2 Chainz, it features Drake and one of the hottest producers and hip hop artists at the moment Quavo. I’m not a huge fan of 2 Chainz but this song I love, probably because of the elements Quavo add’s to this single. The new track is produced by !llmind and Murda Beatz which is surprising seeing as Murda Beatz has failed to produce a song that’s caught my attention. “Bigger Than You” is set to feature on the Def Jam artist’s upcoming “Rap or Go to the League” LP. Check it out below and tell us what you think.

Sampha – “Happens”: This is an oldy but a goody, a song that was released back in 2017 off Sampha’s album “Process”. This song means something to me personally and I feel it needs to get more exposure, as it’s a brilliantly crafted song. Many of you may not be familiar with Sampha but in short; he hails from South London, and goes by the full name Sampha Sisay. Sampha is the youngest of five brothers to Sierra Leonean parents. He discovered music at a young age through his siblings and father’s eclectic record collection and started writing songs on the piano. Sampha’s initial breakthrough came in 2011 when he co-wrote and sang on half of producer SBTRKT’s debut album, and collaborated with Jessie Ware on her track “Valentine.” The English singer-songwriter really made a name for himself in 2013 when he co-produced and sung on two tracks from Drake’s hugely successful “Nothing Was The Same” album, “Too Much” and “The Motion”. Like me I hope you take the time to discover Sampha, as he is a very under rated artist in my books.

Adam Turley – “Heartless”: This Salt Lake City-based singer/songwriter has been the opening act for R&B singer, SoMo in Utah, in early March 2018. It’s when people really got to know this up and coming superstar, and on June 5th Turley dropped his second song “Heartless” and gained a whole new lot of fans. It’s the follow up to his first single “WBLBY” which was released on May 8th. Turley explained the truth behind the song to “Music N Soul” saying the track has a good message for seeking “perfection” in ourselves. “ ‘Heartless’ is about our human tendency to think more about ourselves than we do about those who surround us. It was a song I wrote one day when I realized how “heartless” I and all of us can be at times.” Check out this hot new single below.

One Republic – “Connection”: Front man Ryan Tedder still stands as one of my favourite songwriters/producers and this single is just another affirmation of that. “Connection” comes from One Republic’s forthcoming fifth studio album to be released later this year. The single details the feeling of loneliness even when your surrounded by a sea of people, and expresses the desire to make a genuine connection with someone. Tedder revealed in an open letter to fans earlier this year that the band was going on a media hiatus as anxiety and exhaustion from the rigor of album promotion on “Oh My My” had taken a toll on his mental health. Since then, the band had focused mainly on releasing standalone singles. It’s great to see the guys back.

Kid Ink – “Woop Woop”: Over the infectious production from Rex Kudo & Charlie Handsome, Kid Ink delivers a brand new Summer time hit called “Woop Woop”. This anthem finds him sweet talking his girl and getting high with her, among other things. Kid Ink has always been known for his cleverly crafted melodies and choruses, that has proven a perfect formula to continuously dish out smash hits. The video for the single was shot over the course of three days while on vacation in Jamaica, Kid Ink shows off the beauty of the island as the rapper is surrounded by beaches, cliffs and the seductive nightlife.

Mansionz – “Wicked (Loote Remix)”: There’s not much the duo of Jackson Foote and Emma Lov can do wrong at the moment, from their infectious pop tracks to now remixing some of the worlds biggest hits, and making them even bigger. Known as the musical act Loote, these guys have been producing hits for some of worlds most famous musical superstars. You have seen OLC! cover them over the past few years, and without a doubt these two are the most talented, most musically infectious artists going around in the pop world at the moment.
