Pop phenom AJ Mitchell has officially released his brand new song “Spring Break” featuring Rich the Kid via Epic Records. Arriving just in time for the warmer months, the track flaunts a breezy blend of pop & R&B that finds AJ entering a vibrant new era as an artist. Co-written by AJ himself alongside Dan Gleyzer, Matt Bubel, Chelsea Balan and Grant Landis, “Spring Break” is available now via all digital streaming platforms HERE.
“I had a blast making Spring Break,” said AJ. “I haven’t really made a song like this before and I’m excited for people to hear a new side to me. I’ve always liked challenging myself and making different kinds of music, so it was nice to make something so carefree and fun. It’s really just inspired by the idea that Spring Break is a frame of mind. If you’re not on spring break, listening to this song will take you right there.”
AJ has also released a colorful accompanying music video for the song today, directed by Psycho Films’ Joe Weil (Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Ferg, Electric Guest). Filmed across multiple locations in Los Angeles, the piece perfectly captures the spirit of spring break; when tropical days seamlessly turn into euphoric nights. Watch the video now here.
As he readies his forthcoming debut album, AJ continues to prove himself as one of 2020’s breakout artists. Across the past year, the singer-songwriter has garnered acclaim from the likes of Billboard, DuJour, Idolator and more, and has received recognition as both an MTV PUSH artist and a 2019 Vevo LIFT artist. Impressively, he’s already ranked among the Top 500 artists on Spotify and is closing in on 8 million monthly listeners.
AJ released his Slow Dance EP via Epic Records in August 2019, which features the smash-hit title track featuring Ava Max. Following performances at the 2019 VMAs as well as on The Today Show and Live With Kelly and Ryan, the song maintained a position on the Top 40 Pop Radio charts for months. To close out the year, AJ continued to showcase his range with a steady stream of diverse tracks including the smooth, stripped back “Like Strangers Do,” the energetic pop anthem “Say It Again”, and the R&B-tinged “Unstoppable”.
Orlando-based artist Talii has released a brand new single titled “Good To Be Bad.” Listen to the track now here.
An arresting, dark pop/R&B track that delves unabashed into the world of female energy and sexuality, Talii told Billboard:
- “Being ‘bad’ doesn’t necessarily mean you’re up to no good, it also relates to that feeling of strong, sexy confidence us women love to feel. We all have hidden desires, fantasies, or kinks that we fear others may not accept about us and this song is the act of diving into that part of you and welcoming it without guilt or fear. The song also embodies the mystical wisdom, divine connection, and unhindered sexuality that female figures throughout history have been characterized with, yet modern society has largely stifled this raw form of feminine energy. All of us, especially women, are capable of tapping into that energy and I hope this song empowers people to do that.”
“Good To Be Bad” is the follow-up to Talii’s 2019 body-positive single, “Thickness,” which was added to Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds: The Wave’ playlist and premiered on Wonderland, who described the track as “a sensual blend of pop, neo-soul and R&B, with sutle dancehall tinges.” The song has since been reworked into the “Thickness (Remix)” with a new feature by John Concepcion and debuted with Popdust as a “new twist” on the original track. Listen to the original song here + the remix here.
Talii kicked off a strong 2019 with single “Front Seat,” which pulled influence from her Trinidadian heritage with a meticulous blend of pop/R&B set against a rhythmic dancehall infusion. The track saw praise from outlets like Billboard, who described the track’s “percussion-driven production that pitter-patters like beach waves” while Affinity Magazine called the track “a powerful and bold song that allows the Orlando-based artist’s true colors to shine through.” Listen to the track here + watch the lyric video here.
Born into a family of diversely talented musicians and performers, Talii wasted no time exploring her musical path. She began singing at age 3 and started playing piano and writing songs by age 7.
Talii first made her artist debut in July 2018 with track “Lost,” which was produced by G.Bliz (Teyana Taylor, John K, Darion Ja’Von). Talii later followed with “Mouth,” an addictive track that puts a playful twist on Talii’s signature smooth R&B-meets-soul style.
Telling compelling stories rooted in authentic experiences and bolstered by her smooth and soulful vocal, Talii is a trailblazer in the neo-soul / R&B lane. With support growing on all fronts, including love from the artist community with Pink Sweat$ and John K both showing support, Talii is poised for a breakout year. Keep your eyes peeled for more to come as well as news on a debut EP, coming soon.
