Netflix’s New Thriller ‘Clickbait’ Will Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat

Creators Tony Ayres Christian White
Stars Zoe Kazan, Betty Gabriel, Phoenix Raei, Adrian Grenier

What happens when a loving husband and father suddenly disappears and the only clues to his whereabouts leave everyone in his life questioning everything they thought they knew about him? This is what the new series from Netflix ‘Clickbait’ gives us. Adrian Grenier, who shot to fame in the hit series Entourage, plays Nick Brewer, a man who appears to have it all. A beautiful loving wife, two sons and a beautiful home. On the surface, he appears to be the perfect husband, father, and even brother, until one day he vanishes without a trace.
During a family dinner, he has a verbal altercation with his sister Pia (Zoe Kazan), and she leaves the home in distress. But the very next day after Nick leaves for work, a disturbing video surfaces online of a badly beaten Nick holding up a sign that says, “I abuse women. At 5 million hits, I die.”

As the view count begins to rise, panic sets in for his loved ones, who are slowly questioning is it real or fake? As another video emerges the story begins to intensify, leaving his family wondering if he was really the kind, loving man they thought he was.

The show is eight episodes, and each one showcases the different view point of the ordeal from those involved in Nick’s life. As each episode unravels it leaves you questioning everyone, including the people closest to him. At the core of the show is his sister Pia and his wife Sophie (Betty Gabriel), who join forces to try locate and save him, all while trying to help uncover who is behind it all. They acquire the help of Roshan Amir (Phoenix Raei), a detective who they report the crime to, and also has a liking for Nick’s sister Pia (which is a subplot that’s quickly forgotten). As the story unravels we begin to learn a side of Nick his family didn’t know existed.

Pia Brewer and Nick’s wife Sophie continue their desperate search for answers, while the missing persons case of Nick Brewer becomes a media sensation. Sophie struggles to keep both herself and her family together as this grows to become the biggest media story in the nation.

For myself when watching anything Netflix produces, it’s there series or limited series they seem excel at, and this is no different. ‘Clickbait’ is an edge of the seat thriller, that explores just how dangerous the world can be when it’s driven by social media, online dating apps and the darkest realms of the internet.

‘Clickbait’ is available to watch on Netflix now.
