With Tana Talk 4, Benny took it back to where the tipping point of his superstardom originated, with the fourth installment of his influential Tana Talk series with Tana Talk 4.  Tana Talk 3 was released in 2018 and instantly became a fan favorite and the crossroads where Benny’s burgeoning street ethos catapulted to his first breakout success on the charts; and where his buzz became inescapable.

Tana Talk 4 was led by the project’s breakout singles, and videos for “Johnny P’s Caddy” featuring J.Cole (which earned Benny his first Billboard Hot 100 singles Chart breakthrough), and Benny’s ode to his Montana Ave days, “10 More Commandments” featuring Diddy where Benny deftly updates Notorious B.I.G. & DJ Premier’s (Premier also makes an appearance in the video) classic with ten more of his own Pyrex scriptures.

After the BET Awards, where Benny was nominated for ‘Lyricist of The Year’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for “Johnny P’s Caddy with J. Cole, Benny has released a new video for “Thowy’s Revenge,” which is produced by The Alchemist.

Benny The Butcher’s Tana Talk 4 is now available on all DSP’s and features appearances from J.Cole, Diddy, Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, Boldy James, Stove God Cooks and 38 Spesh.  Tana Talk 4 is produced in its entirety by The Alchemist & Daringer.

As Vado puts the finishing touches on his forthcoming project, Long Run Vol. 3, 2/3 of The Council (Vado, Dave East & Lloyd Banks) link up for the projects first single & video, “Fast Life” featuring Dave East (Vado and Dave East will also be releasing a collaborative album in 2023).

In September, Benny The Butcher and his Black Soprano Family (BSF) released their biggest compilation project to date with Long Live DJ Shay.  The project featured appearances and production from Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Jansport J, Armani Caesar, Krayzie Bone, Stove God Cooks & Boldy James among others.

Along with celebrating the life, legacy and impact of DJ Shay, the BSF family got larger, as Benny officially signed ELCamino to the BSF imprint.  Camino has had a long-standing affiliation with BSF and Griselda over the years, and he has been a frequent and valued contributor to both of the trend-setting crews.

Now, ELCamino has released his first official single and video, “80 Bills,” under the BSF umbrella, which features BSF’s Capo Benny The Butcher.

Reuben Vincent makes intellectual, socially aware, and lyrically dexterous rap that promises to firmly plant him in the conversation for being “next up.”

Though the Charlotte, NC bred rapper & producer is only 21-years old, his buzz is already palpable, as he spent his high school years dividing his extracurricular hours between recording at home and trekking to 9th Wonder’s studio.

Having already recorded records with his mentors 9th Wonder, and Rapsody, Reuben creates songs full of wisdom that extends well beyond someone still in his formative years.  His growing catalog displays as much, as he deftly pivots from incisive social commentary, mature introspection, and sharp, allusion-heavy wordplay.  The new Roc Nation signee knows where the form has been, and he’s pushing it forward with his own unique style and identity.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

That unique form is readily apparent on Reuben’s forthcoming album, Love Is War, which will be released this fall via Roc Nation/Jamla Records.  Love Is War is a conceptual, yet subtly constructed project that will place him at the forefront of debates about the new rap greats.  Unpacking relationships and romantic entanglements over warm, soulful beats from 9th WonderYoung Guru, The Soul Council and his own production, whose collective work both modernizes and morphs boom-bap.  With polished and varied flows, Reuben weighs the time spent on love against the hours necessary to pursue his art and dreams.

After joining Pusha T on his It’s Almost Dry Tour, the rising North Carolina artist recently put the industry on notice with his new single and video, “Geechie Suede,” verifying the undeniable importance of the South Coast is in good hands.  “Geechie Suede” is now available via Jamla/Roc Nation and was premiered by Complex.  “Geechie” is slang for descendants of West African slaves who retained their cultural, and linguistic culture and this is Southernplayalisticadillak music right here.

While the accolades will surely come for Reuben, for now, he’s focused on being an example to his peers and especially representing first generation Liberian Americans.  Conversely, Reuben wouldn’t be here without both love and war.  His parents fled Liberia during the country’s first civil war and settled in Charlotte; where they immersed him and his six younger siblings in West African culture at vibrant cookouts and house parties.  The stresses of being a first-generation American only fueled his desire to succeed.  “Your parents sacrifice for you to have a better life, so there are expectations” he explains.  “While you’re trying to put on for your country, your ancestors, and your last name, there are all of these barriers; like racism and classism that you encounter as a Black person.  But first-generation kids are hustlers.  We’re going to get it regardless.”

Before Love Is War impacts, #OneTakeReu offers the Prelude Bundle Pack, which appears on the heels of Reuben’s standout Cypher performance at the BET Hip Hop Awards.  The Bundle Pack highlights and refreshes Reuben in proper form bodying his most recent freestyles from Sway In The Morning, On The Radar, Bars On I-95, “Andy Milonakis” along with his new single “Geechi Suede.”

Mach-Hommy, along with unwavering collaborator, Tha God Fahim, have now expanded the Duck CZN epic with the release of Duck CZN: Tiger Style, which is now available on streaming platforms.

Every experience has a rhythm, this time the pace quickens to hack through the effects of seasonal depression; that feeling of funk that clouds the day.  Tiger Style is the immediate door out of your head, a window into a different world where you can self-reflect without guilt of what is gone or to come.  Like a Tiger—fast, aggressive, and powerful, cut through the mental clutter by finding somewhere new.

Tiger Style is not an escape, but a relocation, a space where more can be done about the things that are” Mach-Hommy proclaims.  “Allow Tiger Style to help you fly south for the winter, as the season changes, so must your behavior and this album is your soundtrack.”

There are many, mini worlds inside the Mach-Hommy universe.  Those worlds include several themed chronicles of compelling, collectible art and flagship works.  To name a few, the Dollar Menu series 1, 2 and 4 are available on DSP’s, the Triz Nathaniel Saga available exclusively on www.mach-hommy.comHBO, and Balens Cho vinyl exclusively at www.zotanica.com; and Pray For Haiti.  Tiger Style’s predecessor, Duck CZN: Chinese Algebra, was digitally released in 2018 direct to consumer via www.mach-hommy.com for a never to be seen again price of $7.77.  In October 2021, Mach re-released Chinese Algebra on streaming platforms, alongside an offering of exclusive, limited edition vinyl and merch; most notably, a specially designed abacus to memorialize the algebraic theme.  While currently there is no mention of merchandise for Duck CZN: Tiger Style, it’s worth monitoring www.zotanica.com for updates.

Mach-Hommy’s Duck CZN: Tiger Style is now available and features guest appearances and production from Tha God Fahim, Your Old Droog, Juju Gotti, Nicholas Craven & Sadhu Gold.

Hip-hop artist BUSHROD has released ‘Wallflower’, a vibrant, winter-warming ode which refers to his experiences with independence and social introversion.

Wittiness and self-observation both come naturally to the genre-defying artist, with ‘Wallflower’ mischievously tackling what it means to be an introvert in a world where socialising is deemed as the norm.

The quintessentially British rapper has made huge strides in 2022, amassing a loyal following thanks to his signature aesthetic, down-to-earth personality and effortlessly slick wordplay.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, BUSHROD explains:

‘’Introversion isn’t really talked about enough – especially within friendship groups. Most weekends I just want to relax in solitude, but sometimes I find it difficult setting a boundary and saying no because I don’t want to miss out, or even be seen as ‘boring’.

With two UK headline tours under his belt, playlist support from Spotify’s New Music Friday and Fresh Finds, national radio plays from BBC 1Xtra and coverage from The Independent, BUSHROD’s future appears assuredly bright.

Inspired by the P lifestyle, and tasked with the service/responsibility of adding credibility and street knowledge to the game; FishXGrits is back and he’s brought Spitta with him!

Fresh off of releasing, I Am The Drug III, which featured the singles “Coochie Seller” featuring YN Jay and “ATM” featuring Sharp from the No Jumper Podcast, FishXGrits is back with a new project, Us Against The World, and with a new video for one of his biggest single to date with “Jernt,” which features Curren$y.

“The album title comes from the saying “no one understands a pimp, or hoe, but a pimp and hoe.” Therefore when we’re on our day to day grind Us Against The World is the feeling that we share amongst people in the game.  We decided to share it with the world through this album and hope they enjoy it; whether they are involved in the lifestyle or not” FishXGrits suggests.

When it was time to record the single and film the video for “Jernt,” the P Life and Jet Life blended seamlessly.  “We made a couple phone calls, got in touch with Spitta, and he was like “Let’s go!” Spitta is somebody I have the utmost respect for! He’s official, he knows who he is, what he likes, and he ain’t budging. I was playing the record for him so he could write his verse and instead of just wanting the beat to loop so he could hurry up and get it done he says “Naw run that all the way back from the top, we ain’t gone act like you didn’t go hard on that” FishXGrits fondly recalls.  “It felt great to hear a legend say those words, and truly mean it. The vibe was one of the best I’ve had with any artist and I plan on working with the whole Jet Life crew even more in the future.”

Something’s in life make too much sense not to happen.  Like Rome Streetz and Griselda/GXFR forming like Voltron.

Now, one of NYC’s brightest emcees and writers has officially released his debut Griselda album and masterpiece Kiss The Ring,

Kiss The Ring is Rome Streetz on steroids.  This album is my deepest thoughts, feelings and experiences.  This is the culmination of all of my hard work and the times people said I couldn’t get lit making this type of music” Rome Streetz explains.  “Fast forward, I blew past them all and now they gotta Kiss The Ring.”

With his ear always to the streets, Westside Gunn recognized and admired Rome Streetz’s talents and knew he would make the perfect addition to Griselda.  “When I think of NYC and bars, no one’s name comes up first before Rome Streetz.  He’s an emcees emcee and Griselda is a lot stronger with Rome” Westside Gunn confidently asserts.  “We made a classic tape and this is just the beginning.  Rome Streetz is the future; Kiss The Ring.”

Never one to rest on laurels, supreme beatmaker and producer Apollo Brown has again set the bar for Hip-Hop production with his new collaboration album with Chicago MC Philmore Greene, Cost of Living. The album represents the complete idea of introspection. Cost of Living is relatable, empathetic, grown and needs for nothing. The new album is grounded, personal and mature. Alongside Apollo Brown, Philmore Greene shines like few MCs are capable.

Today, the duo offers up the album’s second-single, “Paradise,” which features Evidence.

“Paradise” is the perfect representation of what Cost Of Living is about; from the soundscape, to the content” Apollo Brown affirms.  “Both Philmore and Evidence tell the story of many; loyalty and deceit, while the beat is just eerie enough to walk you to that fork in the road.”

“When you press play on “Paradise,” you get that cinematic feel of what this Cost Of Living album is about.  From Apollo’s soulful production, when the beat is desperately crying for help, to the details in my and Evidence’s lyrics; this record will give you the chills” Philmore Greene adds.  “Paradise” is a great representation of what nightlife in the inner cities will throw at you.  Be safe!”

Rising sensation, Ghanaian-American songstress Moliy, is set to drop her highly-anticipated full EP Honey Doom, October 19th. The eight-track project is the follow-up to her mini-EP “Mahogany St,” and the first full release since 2020’s Wondergirl skyrocketed the artist to virality, via her hit track “Sad Girlz Luv Money”, featuring Amaarae and Kali Uchis, which has amassed nearly 250 million streams to date. Honey Doom features some of Moliy’s most vulnerable, raw storytelling to date, and tracks her personal development as a young woman unpacking love and relationships; alongside her own experimental journey with her sound, which remains otherworldly, airy and optimistic, while expanding to include more of her influences globally.

Moliy teased the project back in February, when she dropped the first single “Love Doc,” featured in PAPER Magazine, who described it as “smooth, effortless, tender and bewitching…an easy, glistening single that captures a moment in her life when she was heartbroken.” Recent follow-up single, “Hard,” is a lo-fi, sparkling, staccato anthem, unapologetically crafted for sexually liberated women (and people) globally. Moliy uses the hypnotic track to flex her expanding prowess, experimenting with her rap flow alongside South African star Moonchild Sanelly, who is widely known for her major contribution to Beyonce’s Black is King album.

The project also features legendary Ghanaian-British producer Juls, considered a pioneer in the African music diaspora, and best known for his production work with the likes of Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, Stonebwoy and more. Juls produced Honey Doom’s opening track “Together,” Moliy’s up-tempo, wistful ode to her first love, and came to Ghana to record with Moliy in person.

The painfully honest, and ostensibly upbeat “Freak” is another vulnerable standout, the delicate, self-reflecting work of a young woman confronting her own demons, and the toxicity that has plagued her past relationships. She croons, “won’t be a punching bag just because you can’t communicate…I’m not your freak anymore, got put on the floor, you probably should have acted right, cold to the core.” She’s defiant, she’s growing up, and she’s not embarrassed by the ghosts of her past – she’s empowered and confronting them, and she wants to talk about what’s happened to her, and hopefully be a conduit for other women to share their own stories.

The rest of the project features hypnotic dance tracks paired with intentional, sometimes heartbreaking storytelling, buoyed by Moliy’s classic sound, like her floating, airy vocals on the haunting “Prisoner,” or “Body on Fire.” The experimental “Banana” also showcases her undeniable maturation – the singer has been working hard, she’s more confident in the upper-register pocket that buoyed her to stardom than ever before, and she’s pushing the boundaries of her own sound, and what fans have come to expect from her.

2020’s Wondergirl, was highlighted on BBC News This is Africa, Apple Music via Ebro Discovery, topped Billboard charts, and led to her becoming a new member to the Recording Academy Class of 2022. The superstar also dropped surprises for fans in the meantime, like her mini-EP Mahogany St., including Love Doc, also featured on Apple Music’s Global Chart show, where Moliy was featured as an emerging talent in February. She also premiered visuals for the reggae-tinged “9-5,” which you can view here. As one of Ghana’s foremost rising artists, the alté and afrofusion singer has been on a consistent rise since the viral celebrity of “Sad Girlz Luv Money”, and was recently featured in Spotify’s Equal Africa campaign, including a featured billboard in Times Square. Her original track The Place was also highlighted in Apple Music’s 2022 Juneteenth Freedom Songs playlist, in which Moliy was the only African artist featured alongside artists like 6LACK, Kranium, Lupe Fiasco, and more.

Before she even dropped her debut project, Griselda’s First Lady Armani Caesar received a “Best Rap Verse of 2020” nod from Complex for her contribution (“Lil Cease”) to Westside Gunn’s Flygod Is An Awesome God 2

Armani’s Griselda debut project, The Liz (2020), was met with immediate press and fan acclaim and the project was highlighted by esteemed press outlets such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Complex, Fader, Stereogum, Hypebeast, CoS, XXL, HNHH, Uproxx, DJbooth, Forbes and NPR just to name a few.  The Liz featured appearances from Griselda’s core (Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine) and production from DJ Premier, Camouflage Monk and 808 Mafia.

Since The Liz was released, Armani has raised her profile exponentially, ripping guest verses on Westside Gunn’s aforementioned Flygod Is An Awesome God 2 (“Lil Cease”), his Shady Records debut Who Made The Sunshine (“Liz Loves Luger” & “98 Sabers” Feat Conway The Machine & Benny The Butcher) and #HWH8 (“Forest Lawn” which also featured 2 Chainz), Conway The Machine’s From King To A GOD (“Anza”), and two songs on Griselda’s Conflicted Official Music Soundtrack (“Mission Accomplished” with Westside Gunn, Conway & Benny & her solo offering (“Nerve Of You”).  Armani also performed standout sets at Coachella (both weeks), Rolling Loud (NYC, Miami, LA & NYC), Made In America Festival, Day In Vegas and Art Basel.

The latest flair up of Kanye West anti-semitism is nothing new for Kosha Dillz. The Brooklyn based Jewish rapper has made a career freestyling and touring with the likes of artists like Matisyahu and Wu Tang Clan, to Lil Dicky has been hacked by ISIS, and is consistently sourced when it comes to anti jewish hatred by famous artists.

He has seen it happen over the years while branding himself with a different identity than most rappers. From Rapping in Spanish and Hebrew to Yiddish to last years viral Hanukkah song with Nissim Black, his buzzy moments from street shows outside Madison Square Garden with Fat Joe helped him earn a coveted spot on Nick Cannon’s Wild N Out in the past few months(seasons1819 & 20).

The video for “Death Con 3” (Ye Diss) takes you through Crown Heights NYC and a 15-foot dreidel to display various Jewish references, and shows Jews of Color throughout the video. Kosha is the first and only rapper with a yarmulke on Nick Cannon’s Wild N’ Out on VH1which was originally cancelled for similar anti-Semitic remarks.

“What is interesting as the world watches Kanye’s downfall is that I’m the first rapper to actually respond.  I think I am in a specific situation in Hip-Hop where I can accept I have a unique position. I work very hard in my path to perform Black art form and I am on a Black television show where we take shots at each otherIt is a true honor to be there with such talent.  The point is that if you’re dope, you’re dope; and you deserve to bring your flavor to the world. I go hard for who I am, and when someone who you are a fan of disrespects you like that, you gotta come back properly. This is my piece. The engineer of the track also worked with Kanye. The producer Sam Barsh has Grammy’s.  My peers have written on Kanye’s albums.   Hopefully Kanye sees it, hears it and respects the art. Hopefully people are prouder, and understand that no one seems to be sticking up for Jewish people; except Jewish people! Maybe this will change that. Maybe standing up for ourselves will actually bring us together” Kosha Dillz.

After decades of experience as a multi instrumentalist, recording artist, artist manager, and everything else in between, these combinations have fused together and spawned a new musical landscape in the world of Montao.
The trap door from another dimension has opened, and he will be here to stay.
Montao’s debut single transcends from the depths of quirky samples, sofa style beats, and paints a cinematic story based around all the elements of entering his so called ‘Halloween House’. Encapsulated amidst the terrain of a curious and sometimes confusing world, Montao is putting things right…one beat at a time.
