Carlie Hanson, born on May 18, 2000, in Wisconsin, has swiftly made her mark in the music industry. Inspired by pop icons like Justin Bieber and One Direction, she began her journey by posting cover songs on YouTube at the tender age of 14. Little did she know that her passion would propel her into the spotlight.

In 2016, while working as a McDonald’s cashier, Hanson entered a local iHeartRadio contest to see Zayn in concert. Her entry—a video of herself singing Zayn’s “Pillowtalk” in a parked car—went viral after being reposted by iHeart. Talent agents took notice, and soon she found herself auditioning in Toronto for producers from House of Wolf.

Taylor Swift, the reigning pop queen, played a pivotal role in Hanson’s journey. In November 2017, Swift included Hanson’s second single, “Only One,” on an Apple Music playlist. The song’s popularity soared, averaging 400,000 daily streams. Hanson’s sultry vocals and syncopated lyricism drew comparisons to Billie Eilish and Lorde.

In September 2018, Hanson hit the road with Troye Sivan and Kim Petras on Sivan’s Bloom Tour. Venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York and the Greek Theater in Los Angeles witnessed her unapologetic, pop-infused performances. Twin Cities Media aptly described her as “a little bit of Lorde, a little of Billie Eilish meets Kiiara.”

June 2019 marked the release of her debut extended play, “Junk.” The EP, consisting of five songs, showcased Hanson’s raw talent and emotional depth. Tracks like “Back in My Arms” resonated with listeners, earning her a spot on Taylor Swift’s Apple Music playlist once again.

Hanson’s debut album, “Tough Boy,” dropped in February 2022. The album explored themes of vulnerability, resilience, and self-discovery. Her dusky vocals and relatable lyrics struck a chord with fans. Not one to rest, she followed up with “Wisconsin” in March 2023, further cementing her place in the pop landscape.

What sets Carlie Hanson apart? It’s her unapologetic authenticity. She’s not afraid to bare her soul through her music, whether it’s a heart-wrenching ballad or an empowering anthem. Her journey from a McDonald’s cashier to a pop sensation is a testament to her unwavering passion and determination.

In September 2019, Hanson embarked on The WYA Tour across Europe and the United Kingdom. Fans flocked to witness her electrifying performances, proving that she’s more than just a viral sensation. She’s an artist who connects deeply with her audience.
