The Berlin-based hyper-rock trio PABST are back to make waves. Guitarist and vocalist Erik Heise, bass player Tilman Kettner, and drummer Tore Knipping revealed their brand new single “Orca Whale,” out August 22 via Alcopop! Records and Ketchup Tracks.
Accompanied by an official music video, the track finds the trio shredding on a rowing boat and thrashing in a vibrant, color-soaked field. The imagery captures attention as the song describes a vengeful killer whale demolishing a billionaire’s yacht in the middle of the Atlantic. Call it eco-terrorism as metaphor, or simply PABST at their most unhinged — it’s a blistering anti-capitalist fever dream that dares you to high-five a marine mammal.
Musically, “Orca Whale” hits listeners with reverb-heavy chords, chaotic drum fills, and a nihilistic edge.
“I’m all yours, Orca whale, I’m gonna dive into the waves with you,” Heise sings.
The single marks the third preview of the band’s upcoming fourth studio album, “This is normal now,” which is set to release November 28. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Magnus Wichmann at lala Studios in Leipzig, Germany, the record promises PABST at their sharpest, loudest, and most unpredictable. It follows in the footsteps of earlier singles including “I felt all there is to feel,” featuring Shane Parsons, the frontman of the Australian group DZ Deathrays.
“This is normal now” is made to push PABST further into international waters. With over 200 shows to their name, a Top 20-charting album in Germany, and tours alongside Billy Talent, The Beatsteaks, Bob Mould, snake eyes, and Beach Riot, PABST are proving their antics are not contained to their home base.
Recent appearances at The Great Escape (UK), Rock am Ring (GER), Sziget (HUN), and Madcool (ES) have shown just how far their hyper-rock contagion has spread. Now, they’re continuing their reach.
Tickets are available for PABST’s newly-announced “Sorry For Hyper-Rocking” headline tour, where the group will tear through Germany, Austria and beyond starting December 2025.
