Asphodels, the seventh studio album from The Veils, was recorded live to tape over five days
at Roundhead Studios in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Veils debut album The Runaway Found turned 20 last year which provided lead
singer/songwriter Finn Andrews with a healthy dose of existential dread.
“I feel as though this album is the end result of a now disconcertingly long career in music,” says
lead singer and songwriter Finn Andrews. “I think after your 7th album, much like turning 40,
you should really just stop counting. I’ve learned a lot along the way, which I suppose is the
whole point, and I’ve really distilled it all into these 9 songs. As always, I really just write about
love and death – it’s a compulsion – and that is once again the case here. But I feel as though
I’ve never been able to express this stuff rattling about in my brain quite as directly until now. I
have rarely felt proud of anything I’ve made for very long, but this one feels different. It’s built on
a strong foundation I think.”

Dutch singer-songwriter Goldkimono (Martijn ‘Tienus’ Konijnenburg) is set to release the bubbly ‘Lifetime’ on January 29th via his own Camp Kimono Records.
Following an impressive trajectory with debut album ‘The Legend Of The Goldkimono’ in 2022, Martijn ‘Tienus’ Konijnenburg is making his mark on contemporary music. The new single is taken from his upcoming album, to be released later this year and co-produced by Martijn himself and Tim Bran (London Grammar, Birdy). It emerges from a moment of doom scrolling and self-reflecting, resulting in the simple realisation: “this ain’t your timeline, this is your lifetime”. Whilst being disguised as a sun-drenched pop tune with an addictive carefree vibe, dig deeper and Goldkimono’s animated lyrics actually explore the discord between our digital existence and real-world connections.
Goldkimono: “‘Lifetime’ reflects on the chaos and disconnection in the modern world, from global tensions to personal struggles. The song touches on themes of spiritual awareness, unity, and the quest for inner peace in a world full of digital distractions.”

Boston via Rahway, NJ rock outfit Cut The Kids In Half are excited to announce their debut album, What We Became, arriving later this month on January 31. Heralding the announcement is the album’s emotional first single “Song of Two Humans,” which tackles a tumultuous relationship with brightly toned guitars and wandering lyricism. Named after Radiohead’s “Morning Bell,” brothers Charlie and Jack Silver (ages 18 and 19 respectively) have established themselves as a compelling young band, cutting their teeth the old-fashioned way: playing gig after gig on their local scene. As they prepare to share their first full-length record, “Song of Two Humans” showcases the group’s artistic ambition, as vulnerability collides with catchy riffs. The track arrives alongside an official music video streaming now on YouTube. Shot in their current home base of Boston, MA, Charlie and Jack Silver star in the video, alongside longtime drummer Luke Tan.
“I wrote the first lines after a strained conversation with an old friend, and somewhere along the way it became about a relationship,” says vocalist and lyricist Jack Silver. “It’s about what it’s like when you discover everything about someone, and one day you realize you don’t like what you’ve found. One day you’re together, the next you’re in each other’s way.”

Back Seat Driver was created in 2023 after Sam, Gil, Harland & Dara found themselves doing many gigs together throughout Saskatchewan.
Originally they were a backup band for Dara Schindelka, but over time found that they were creating their own style of music, one that had funky grooves and soulful elements that were unique to the group.
What’s unique about this 4 piece band is that the keys take the role of a lead guitar. Drums, bass & keyboard create a unique groove for Dara’s vocals to fill up the sound. This slight twist on a 4 piece band gives a fresh take on familiar jams.
The group has worked hard creating originals & booking shows in prairie towns throughout the long Saskatchewan highways and beyond.

Composer, Mixer & Audio Narrative: Cory Cullinan Director, Editor & Visual Narrative: Sidney Cullinan Audio Engineer: Elizabeth Anaya Produced by Cory Cullinan, Sidney Cullinan & Elizabeth Anaya Inspired by John Chowning’s 220 Course Series @ Stanford University Footprint was originally conceived by Cory Cullinan as an undergrad at Stanford University in the late 1980s taking famed composer and electronic music legend John Chowning’s 220A course. He started working on it only to find it was too time-consuming for his undergraduate course load — at the time, digital audio workstations didn’t exist, and creating all the field recordings and somehow putting them together in a multitrack mix would’ve taken months or years of work. So he never finished it. But he always wanted to. Fast forward to the mid-2020s. Cory received word that Dr. Chowning, his Stanford Music Major Advisor and the creator of FM synthesis that powers the DXY keyboard and more on almost every 80s and 90s pop recording, was coming — at age 89 — to a concert Cory was playing with Riley Max in San Jose, CA. Cory immediately thought: ‘I have to finish the piece I never finished in Chowning’s class.’ Assisted by Cory’s own former college Recording Arts student Elizabeth Anaya — who’s now Cory’s Business & Studio Manager — Cory and Elizabeth worked at his Reach Studios to finish the piece before the show. It sounds remarkably similar to what he heard in his head in 1989. Footprint now exists in three formats: as an audio piece, as a live audience interaction piece, and as a multimedia piece that’s a collaboration with Cory’s daughter Sidney Cullinan. As an audio piece, it was premiered to Cory’s Recording Arts students at Stanford in the summer of 2024. When surveyed as to what the piece was about and its message, the students fell into three distinct groups with different but strongly specific answers. This is exactly what the composer had hoped — an immersive emotional experience, yet one open to intellectual interpretation based on your own experience. Playing on this interactive and contemplative nature, the piece was premiered live in San Jose, CA in the summer of 2024, with Dr. Chowning in attendance. Cory dedicated it to him and said he’d always wanted to finish it in Chowning’s class. At the end of the piece, his former professor shouted humorously from the crowd: “Cory, you did it!” Among other things, the interactive version of the piece allows audiences to experience the observation that they shape their own environment. Cory’s daughter Sidney Cullinan was given free rein to write, edit and create a film to accompany the audio she was given for the multimedia version of Footprint. Sidney has directed music videos featuring Grammy winners and more, produced environmental documentaries as both composer and editor, designed social media for the US Green Chamber Of Commerce, created campaigns and social media content securing the greatest engagement in the history of the world’s largest environmental non-profit (The Nature Conservancy), and is double-majoring and writing her Honors Thesis in Environmental Studies and Communications at UC Santa Barbara, the birthplace of the American environmental movement. Composer Cory Cullinan is hosting and introducing his mentor John Chowning for a series of lectures/performances of the legendary composer’s work at colleges in Colorado in February 2025.

Latin GRAMMY-nominated star Belinda, crowned the Queen of Corridos, unveils her highly anticipated new single, “La Cuadrada” featuring Mexico’s No. 1 artist, Tito Double P. The track is a celebration of luxury, strength and obsession, inspired by the unmistakable Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, a symbol that, like Belinda, captures glances and arouses admiration.
With a bold and unique approach, “La Cuadrada” reasserts Belinda as the Queen of Corridos, cementing her place as the genre’s most influential female voice. The song masterfully blends elements of power and seduction, telling the story of a woman whose presence is as striking and commanding as the iconic G-Wagon. This irresistible combination reflects Belinda’s ability to reinvent herself and conquer new musical terrains.
Belinda teased the track across her social platforms weeks before its release, igniting excitement among her fans and the Mexican music community. “La Cuadrada” showcases Belinda’s ever-evolving artistry and ability to break boundaries in a genre traditionally led by men. From hits like “Cactus,” “La Mala,” and “Jackpot,” to this new release, the star continues to redefine the corrido landscape with authenticity and creativity.

Maddie describes the track as an exploration of the anxiety and fear that surface when you encounter someone you once loved but now feel estranged from. “There’s a part of you that’s paralyzingly afraid of them,” she shares, “but you wish you didn’t have to be.”
With its raw vulnerability and magnetic intensity, “The wolf” captures the bittersweet tension of wanting to move on while still being haunted by the echoes of the past. Hailing from Toronto and now based in New York City, Maddie began writing music at just 12 years old, using songwriting as an outlet to navigate her anxieties and express her innermost thoughts. Sam Robbins’ third album, So Much I Still Don’t See is a testament to a singer songwriter’s journey through his 20’s, through his formative years of 45,000 miles per year touring and the beginning of a troubadour’s career. Most of all, it is the culmination of firsthand experiences gathered through hard travel and big adventures.
For the listener, these big adventures are heard through a soft, introspective soundscape, with sounds built sparingly around solo acoustic guitar and vocals, tracked live, just as they are performed live. Recorded in an old church in Springfield, MA, the sounds of So Much I Still Don’t See center around the humility that comes with traveling and experiencing a world much larger than yourself – looking inward and reveling in the quiet of the inner mind while facing an expansive landscape of life on the road. The storytelling in the songs is draped with touches of upright bass, keyboards, organ, and electric guitar, but the core of the album is one man and his worn out Martin guitar, bought new just a few years ago a week after moving to Nashville.

A troubadour of truth, Nashville resident Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. An award-winning, prolific lyricist and composer, Matthews blends Country, Americana, Folk, Blues, and Bluegrass into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest, original lyrics. She is made for these times.
Of Matthews, ASCAP VP & Creative Director Eric Philbrook says, “By wrapping honest emotions around her socially conscious messages and dynamically delivering them with a warm heart and a strong voice, she lifts our spirits just when we need it most in these troubled times.” Justin Hiltner of Bluegrass Situation adds, her gift is a “reminder of what beauty can occur when we bridge those divides.” In her own words, Matthews says her mission is: “to amplify the voices of the unheard, to shed light on the unseen, and to be a steadfast reminder that hope and love are the truest pathways to equity and justice.” Her new album is an embodiment of and a testament to that mission.
When Matthews attended a panel at Folk Alliance International in February of 2024, she heard a Scottish Folk artist inquire as to how many record labels pursue what the artist referred to as “music from my tradition,” four words that intrigued Matthews. “I loved the idea of that. It seems like the best way to talk about music: what is your tradition, who are your people, what is the fabric of you?”

Skating into the new year – JOHNNY LLOYD – presents his latest single: ‘Roller King’.
The track is one of the stand-out moments of Lloyd’s fast approaching new album, ‘Punchline’, the first solo record from the Tribes frontman in over 3 years.
STREAM HERE
Arriving in-line with previous teaser tracks ‘If You Love Them, Let Them Go’ and ‘Manchester In Bloom’, Lloyd’s latest single is evidence of an artist on a creative roll.
With lush loping tones, brassy pirouettes, and a vibe as easy going as its laid-back subject matter, Johnny explains of the track’s unlikely inspiration:
“‘Roller King’ took a few goes to establish itself. It’s the most musically ambitious song I think I’ve ever written and Max Clilverd was instrumental in bringing it together and adding the brass. It’s a standout track on the album for me. I wrote the lyrics the day after the Tribes reunion show at Kentish Town forum. I had just landed in LA for a TV job on very little sleep and I was sitting in a bar on Venice beach watching this guy on roller blades shred an electric guitar.”

CMAGIC5 (they call her ‘C’) is a rock chick in a pop world. She’s a top rising independent singer-songwriter, musician, and recording artist based in Toronto. With an infectious energy and a rock ‘n’ roll spirit, C writes edgy, power pop, punk-flavoured soundtracks that embrace the highs and lows of coming-of-age and celebrate your inner rebel. Her incredibly catchy anthems with soulful vocals get your heart pumping and invite you to channel that “main character energy.”
Her latest single “Happy Never After” marks the beginning of a new CMAGIC5 era. The title-track from her upcoming EP, crafted alongside Grammy-nominated and Juno-winning producers, “Happy Never After” was born out of a desire to break free from the clichés of fairy tale romances and unrealistic standards of relationships portrayed on social media. Putting an angsty twist on the classic “happily ever after,” the songwriter shares, “I wanted to create a song that reclaims power after heartbreak, turning pain into empowerment. The idea sparked during a late-night writing session where the concept of a modern-day “anti-fairytale” resonated deeply. Drawing from personal experiences and stories of others navigating toxic relationships, the song evolved into a fierce anthem of self-love and strength.”
Flipping the script on fairy tale romances, “Happy Never After” features razor-sharp lyrics and a contagious modern pop-rock beat, capturing the fallout of heartbreak with sass and unrelenting honesty. Capturing that sense of rebellion, it’s empowering and unapologetically catchy, with a fierce energy that will have you ready to scream along with every word. The song radiates catharsis, blending a punchy pop-rock sound with raw emotion. With its driving guitar riffs and huge drums, it’s reminiscent of early Avril Lavigne and modern Olivia Rodrigo. It feels like a nostalgic pop-rock anthem from the 2000s, reimagined with a fresh, bold perspective. This is your breakup anthem of the year—because not every fairytale ends in “happily ever after.”

The bright, airy soundwaves playfully flirt with his soft, intricate vocal melodies before vibrant pianos and syncopated drums elevate the record into a space that feels as beautiful as it is meaningful.
Speaking on the track, Anton explains: “While making my first album, I rented a little house in LA by myself for a couple of months. After leaving someone I loved for a very long time, I hoped California’s sun would help. This is the first song I recorded in that house.”

Their music, a vibrant mix of synth-driven melodies and bass-heavy rhythms, speaks to the heart of the urban experience, reflecting themes of anxiety, societal observations, and personal introspection.
Off of their upcoming album, Good Dogs, their latest single “Show My Teeth” is all about the adventure and highs and lows you experience while on tour. Lieberman shares, “It can be super fun and thrilling but also fairly repetitive and exhausting. We wanted to capture that feeling of rolling from one city to another and the excitement but overall blur it can be waking up in a new city everyday and having 24 hours to experience what it has to offer before you have to hit the road again.”

“Jack You Up (If My Blade)” is an immersive and intense exploration of betrayal, courage, and self-reclamation. NOANNE’s evocative lyrics paint a picture of a protagonist abandoned by a cowardly lover—a king who fled his kingdom—and now questions whether she will see him again or if revenge will come by her own hand. Through lines like “Millions of hours, millions of flowers were ruthlessly killed by my knife,” NOANNE encapsulates the pain of lost love and newfound strength. Her haunting vocals and the rich soundscape amplify the song’s dramatic narrative, creating a profound listening experience that invites audiences to examine their own confrontations with betrayal, power, and the complexities of love.

JULIA MINICHIELLO
“you were just drunk”
• Following the release of “always know the exits,” Julia Minichiello’s single “you were just drunk” is a reflective, introspective track about guarding your heart while stepping into new emotional territory. The lyrics depict a haunting, empowered exploration of trust, vulnerability, and emotional escape routes.

Chicago-based producer/DJ KTRL is back with his new single ‘Jinzo’ out now via HypnoVizion. The single serves as the first off KTRL’s upcoming JinzoEP.
‘Jinzo’ is a haunting introduction to KTRL’s impending EP of the same title. Taking a minimalistic approach, KTRL has crafted a dark and wobbling bass track that creeps with anxious anticipation and spine-chilling energy. Amidst foreboding samples and distorted basslines, KTRL has built a masterfully engaging original that teases what’s to come on his Jinzo EP.
“I wanted to write something different but also bass heavy. I was listening to some more minimal stuff prior to writing ‘Jinzo’ and I wanted to make sure it was powerful without a ton going on. Capturing the vibe early, ‘Jinzo’ builds a story and I’m excited for you all to hear it!” – KTRL

Lennikim puts his best foot forwards with tender new offering ‘Homesick’
Courageously honest, Homesick was written during a time when Lennikim was at an all time low. Poignant songwriting and a gentle build allow his vocals to take center stage with compelling magnetism. Sharing more on the single, he explained: “I wrote this song in 2021, after living for almost four years in Paris. The pandemic forced me to return to Canada after being away for so long to pursue my career. Emotionally drained, I realised I had spent years in “presentation” mode, performing for others while still so young, struggling to find myself and understand my queer identity.
This song is an ode to my teenage self, who often felt lost in the industry, craving stability and surrounded by all the wrong people. I was yearning for a sense of home that seemed to grow more distant and harder to reach.
I’m at a totally different place today than when I wrote Homesick. I now have an amazing circle of people who truly match my energy and vibe—people I respect and admire. You really have to get yourself out there to find the right people and get rid of the bad apples, it makes all the difference.”
