INsiders Guide: Disruptors, Avery Cochrane, Megan Nadin, Lavendine, LOVER’S SKIT…

Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Neutral Snap is the pop punk powerhouse of the southeast. Their energy can best be described as a 2005 Gusher’s commercial, bringing catchy hooks, hard riffs, and nostalgic breakdowns to Louisiana and beyond. Recently, they stepped into Audio Pilot Studio with Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View) and created the “I Hardly Know Her” EP. The collection of songs perfectly captures the nostalgic pop punk sound with a little extra energy and production. These songs were the first time Neutral Snap collaborated with other artists as well, having Tom Denney (A Day to Remember), Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, Say Anything, The Color Fred) and others assist in the songwriting process. “I Hardly Know Her” is a fresh take on a re-emerging sound that immediately grabs you and sucks you in.

The first single off of their forthcoming EP “Danny ACOG”was co written with Tom Denney, A Day To Remember, and is a timeless story of unrequited lust packaged in a sugar-coated explosive musical missile with punchy rhythms, sharp hooks and raw but melodic vocals, hitting that emotional sweet spot between angst and youthful optimism.
Their single “Waltz” highlights that all too relatable “situationship” often found in romantic relationships. The band collaborated with Fred Mascherino (Say Anything, The Color Fred, Taking Back Sunday) and Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View) for the riveting release. “Waltz” features melodic hooks culminating into a chorus exploding with unfiltered emotion and a frantic energy that is uniquely theirs.”Pat Your Own Back” is a new pop punk anthem that delivers an emotional rollercoaster, from introspective, melodic verses to a cathartic, explosive finish. Co-written with Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View), the track explores the aftermath of conflict in a long-term relationship, capturing the struggle to rationalize unresolved emotions.

Among the best-kept secrets in up-and-coming pop music, Avery Cochrane is a dynamic singer-songwriter from Seattle, known for her emotive lyrics, cinematic sound, and charming live performances. Since emerging onto the scene, Avery has garnered widespread attention for her unique ability to capture raw human experiences in lyrics while maintaining a classic pop sound. Avery’s recent single, a bombastic queer anthem called “Existential Crisis at the Tennis Club,” had multiple viral moments on TikTok, and her new release, “Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night,” has made a similar impact, propelling her to the forefront of indie music, drawing a loyal and growing fanbase from around the world. The track is an
upbeat and addictive shimmery alternative pop single. She shares, “This song is about not having a strong or prideful sense of self, so you instead morph into whatever you think people want from you, especially in the context of a night out with friends who you suspect don’t truly understand the real you (because you’ve never let them see it!!).” With a reputation for engaging audiences both online and in person, Avery is an LGBTQ artist poised for bigger stages and deeper connections in 2025 and beyond.

Fresh off opening for country music legends Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis, on their ‘Grits and Glamour’ tour in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Megan Nadin continues to make her mark with “Bittersweet”—a soul-stirring new single that explores the quiet complexities of longing, heartache, and acceptance. Known for her hippie-chic, glam style and raw sincerity, Megan is more than a performer; she’s a storyteller, healer, and truth-seeker whose music resonates far beyond the stage.

Pop-rock duo Lavendine—made up of sisters Jacy and Jana Ayers—August 8 releases their most commanding single yet: “Who Cares If I’m Alone,” accompanied by a visually stunning lyric video. This isn’t just a song—it’s a reckoning. Born from betrayal and forged on grit, the track is a defiant stand against dependence, silence, and settling for less.
Crafted with Grammy-nominated Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Stevie Nicks) behind the production and mixing, and vocal production by Ed Seay (Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton), Lavendine rips the curtain back on isolation—and turns it into a war cry. Because sometimes, the strongest, bravest move you can make…is walking away.

Hot on the heels of their caustic single ‘Bad Lyfe’ (watch here) which turned heads at BBC Radio 6 Music, DIY, Wonderland and more, today the Stockholm-via-London duo comprising vocalist and provocateur Nathalia Aránguiz and producer Ove Jerndal announce their debut EP ‘All Rights Reserved’.

Out on the 19th September via 40 Miles, it’s an alluring, agitated mixtape that’s as party-starting as it is political, collaging The Knife-esque electronics, early-M.I.A.-style sampling, musica urbana rhythms and indie-rock agita. ‘All Rights Reserved’ epitomises Lover’s Skit’s modern punk ethos and their desire to rip up the rulebook and stick it all back together with glitter glue, blurring the line between amateurism and professionalism, underground experimentalism and escapist pop.

Today’s single “No Te Metas” provides the latest taste of the project, and hybridizes the salsa music Nathalia grew up on, with the grooves of Deee-Lite and the cheeky verve of Rosalía, making for an ultra-contemporary anthem. Watch the brilliant video directed by Mattematrix & Lover’s Skit here

Rising pop artist Isabel continues to carve out her unique space in the music scene with the release of her latest single, “Playing God”. OUT 8th of August.

Opening with layers of delicate, ethereal harmonies, “Playing God” immediately sets the mood, an effortless blend of introspection and cool, understated energy. Isabel’s distinctive and intimate vocal delivery draws listeners in, telling a deeply relatable story about the human desire to control the narrative of our own lives. Her lyrics are honest and resonant, with the catchy chorus, “If you want me, need me, I know I lose myself, but I’ve been changing” serving as a powerful emotional anchor within the track’s sleek, pop-forward production.

Complementing the song is a nostalgic, 90s-inspired visual shot entirely on VHS, adding a layer of raw texture and warmth to the experience. Choreographed by

Weronika Wictoria, the video perfectly mirrors the track’s themes of identity, and reclaiming one’s sense of self.

Harlem-born producer and genre-blending artist Austin Millz returns with his latest single, ‘Right Now’, featuring rising vocalist Caroline Byrne. A striking collaboration that showcases the best of both artists, the track is a bold, rhythmic celebration of dance music, with an unruly energy, built for the dancefloor.

James Hype, one of the UK’s leading and most revered globally recognized DJs, continues a seminal year with the release of a new single “Waterfalls” [feat. Sam Harper & Bobby Harvey] out now via Republic Records – Listen HERE

Using his vast reserves of influences, James Hype progresses his sound on, picking up the pace and kicking the tempo into overdrive on this energetic anthem, that is right on current trend, yet sounds incredibly fresh and original. Club rhythms power up the track until a chantable chorus takes hold and never lets go on the hook, “Let it all flow and give me waterfalls. The drop gives way to a shimmering moment of synth-heavy dancefloor bliss giving all the makings of a future festival favorite and summer anthem!

It lands in the wake of his rapidly rising early summer hit “Don’t Wake Me Up” which has already reeled in approaching 20 million streams. Beyond plugs from EDMTunes and more, CULTR hailed it as “a high-energy, synth-driven anthem that hits with both emotional weight and mainstage-ready power,” going on to assert, “Hype has proven time and again that his sets—and his productions—are built for maximum impact.” The explosive single’s extended mix and select remixes will be available on the “Don’t Wake Me Up” 12” vinyl, available for pre-order HERE.

Following on from the release of “Knock Down, Drag Out” earlier this summer, The Wild Things have announced their new single “I Can’t Wait”, which details the second half of their sonic love story.

Back in June, The Wild Things shared “Knock Down, Drag Out”, a scorching tale of lust and love in New Orleans, delivered through cheeky lyrics and pop-rock soundscapes. Now, the band have announced their follow-up single, “I Can’t Wait’, which recounts the bitter end to the love affair. The track arrives on 14th August.

From the opening moments of the track, The Wild Things make it clear that any feelings of lust have been replaced with rage over the course of the summer. “Hey son of a bitch,” declares vocalist Sydney Rae White, “First of all, go to hell.” Taking aim at game-playing scumbags and arrogant fools, the track is defiant and self-assured, bringing their summer lovin’ (or lustin’) to an abrupt end over catchy rock instrumentals.

““I Can’t Wait” is part two of our love affair story, happening inside New Orleans,” shares White, “The gap between the singles is the realtime breakdown of our character’s relationship, ending in a vitriolic yet cathartic rock song. This song is a real shift for us in some really exciting ways. If “Knock Down, Drag Out” is a nod to our past, “I Can’t Wait” is a window into our future…”

rising Left-field indie rocker DBL A leans further into his constantly evolving sound with new single ‘Caught Up in Wires’. Gritty, grungy, and atmospheric, DBL A blends post-punk and indie-rock with synth-driven, lo-fi textures on this latest release, further proving himself to be one of the most exciting talents emerging from the UK.
