Trailer: ‘MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE’ from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel

The power of Eternia is set to ignite cinemas once again as Masters of the Universe, the highly anticipated live-action feature from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, arrives in theaters across the United States on June 5, 2026, with international releases rolling out the same month through Sony Pictures International Releasing.

Based on Mattel’s iconic 1980s toy franchise, Masters of the Universe reimagines the beloved world of He-Man with breathtaking visuals, heart-pounding action, and a universally appealing story centered on heroic transformation and discovering the power within. Designed as a big-screen spectacle, the film promises an exhilarating adventure that blends nostalgia for longtime fans with fresh excitement for new audiences.

For more than forty years, He-Man has remained a pop culture staple, spanning cartoons, comics, toys, and previous film adaptations. This enduring legacy has made the franchise a shared touchstone for multiple generations. With this new adaptation, audiences both familiar and unfamiliar with the mythology can expect an action-packed journey filled with epic battles, dazzling visual effects, and timeless themes of courage and destiny.

Directed by Travis Knight, the film brings the legendary world back to life through an ambitious live-action vision. The story follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who has been separated from his home planet of Eternia for 15 years. When the mystical Sword of Power calls him back, he returns to find his world devastated under the tyrannical rule of the villainous Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto. To save his family and restore peace to Eternia, Adam must unite with trusted allies — including Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba) — and embrace his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley, with Kristen Wiig lending her voice to the character Roboto. The screenplay is written by Chris Butler and Aaron Nee & Adam Nee & Dave Callaham, from a story by Aaron Nee & Adam Nee alongside Alex Litvak & Michael Finch.
