WomenOutLoud! : Gracie Abrams Descends into ‘Daughter from Hell’

Just one day after its July 17, 2026 release, Gracie Abrams’ third studio album Daughter from Hell feels like the moment a gifted young artist steps fully into her own. Clocking in at over 56 minutes across 16 tracks, the Interscope Records project marks a bold evolution from the intimate bedroom-pop confessions of Good Riddance (2023) and the breakthrough sparkle of The Secret of Us (2024). Co-written and co-produced primarily with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner (of The National), with additional work from Dan Nigro, the album trades some of the earlier records’ fragile minimalism for richer, more cinematic textures while preserving Abrams’ signature vulnerability.

From Tour Stages to Studio Catharsis

Abrams began teasing material from the project during The Secret of Us Tour in early 2025, dropping unreleased gems like “Death Wish,” “Cold Goodbyes,” and others that fans immediately latched onto. Work on Daughter from Hell actually overlapped with the deluxe edition of her previous album, with sessions at Electric Lady Studios in New York, Dessner’s Long Pond in Hudson Valley, and spots in London.

In interviews leading up to release, Abrams described the album as her most personal and connected work yet. “It’s definitely my favorite music I’ve ever made,” she shared, framing the record as a time capsule of her current self—post-breakthrough fame, navigating the pressures of stardom, family legacy (as daughter of J.J. Abrams), and the push-pull of young adulthood.

Dessner echoed the sentiment, noting six years of collaboration and a shared drive to expand sonically: “You’ll hear us expanding our musical vocabulary and pushing into uncharted waters sonically, and most of all the sharpening and deepening of Gracie’s lyricism.”

Lead Singles and Sonic Shifts

The album opens with lead single “Hit the Wall” (released May 14, 2026), a cathartic anthem that sets the tone—built around emotional collision, frustration, and breakthrough. Follow-up “Look at My Life” (June 25) arrived with a striking music video of road trips, empty dance studios, and hot air balloon escapes, exploring the cracks behind public success.

The full tracklist reveals a deliberate journey:

1.  Hit the Wall

2.  Cold Goodbyes

3.  Death Wish

4.  The Knife

5.  Daughter from Hell (title track)

6.  Look at My Life

7.  Good Reason

8.  Men Like You

9.  Sober

10.  Broke My Heart

11.  Mews

12.  Minibar (co-written with Audrey Hobert)

13.  Imaginary Friend

14.  Afflictions

15.  Humming

16.  What If It’s Right? (featuring Marcus Mumford, reportedly one of the longest and most ambitious tracks)

Standouts teased in live settings and the recent iHeartRadio album preview include “Minibar,” which Abrams performed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon around release. Themes appear to grapple with heartbreak, self-sabotage, sobriety, complicated relationships, and the surreal weight of visibility—hallmarks of Abrams’ songwriting, now delivered with greater musical confidence.

On the Road Again

Fans won’t have to wait long to hear the new material live. The Look at My Life Tour, announced in late May, kicks off December 2, 2026 in Denver and includes extensive North American dates (with Capital One presenting some) plus international stops. It promises to be a victory lap for an artist who has rapidly become one of her generation’s most relatable and respected voices.

Daughter from Hell arrives at a perfect time: in an era of polished pop, Abrams continues offering something rarer—songs that feel like late-night voice memos turned into art, now with the production scope to fill arenas. It’s not just a release; it’s the sound of an artist hitting her stride, walls and all.
