Nicolas Cage to Battle Cannibals in Post-Apocalyptic Thriller Parish

Nicolas Cage is set to star in Parish, a new action-thriller set in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, in which a hardened survivor must defend his sanctuary from a ruthless gang of cannibals.

Concourse Media is launching worldwide pre-sales for the project ahead of the TIFF market.

Set 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe, Parish stars Oscar winner Nicolas Cage as a hardened survivor who has managed to stay alive with the help of his highly trained attack dogs and one strict rule: never let anyone through the gate.

The rule has kept him alive for three decades. But his carefully protected existence is shattered when a desperate woman carrying an infant arrives at his compound seeking refuge. Forced to choose between compassion and survival, Parish makes a decision that exposes his sanctuary and draws the attention of a savage group of cannibals emerging from the wasteland.

As the attackers close in, Parish’s heavily fortified compound comes under siege. With his past catching up with him, he must fight to protect the only thing he has left.

The film is being written and directed by Adam Sigal, who previously helmed Simon Pegg’s comedy-thriller Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose and served as a producer on the 2024 sci-fi thriller Slingshot, starring Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishburne.

Production is currently scheduled to begin in Minnesota in October.

Joel Shapiro of MagiCity Studios, whose credits include Gunner and Killerman, will produce alongside Steven Tyler Sahlein (The Devil’s Advocate). Mark Holder and Christine Holder are producing for Wonder Street. Matthew Shreder of Concourse Media will executive produce and finance the film alongside sister company Archetype Media Finance.

David Tattersall, the veteran cinematographer behind Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III, The Green Mile and Tomb Raider, will serve as director of photography. Tattersall has also previously worked with Cage on Con Air and Next.

“There’s a scale and pedigree to Parish that immediately separates it from the pack,” said Matthew Shreder, CEO of Concourse Media. “Nic Cage is an incredible and fearless actor, with an extraordinary group of filmmakers around him who are all setting out to make a sophisticated survival thriller that’s a cinematic event built for a global audience.”

Producer Joel Shapiro added that the film’s brutal post-apocalyptic setting is balanced by a strong human element.

“Adam has created a world that is savage, cinematic and incredibly visceral, but what drew us to Parish was the humanity underneath it,” Shapiro said. “Nick Cage brings an unpredictability and emotional intensity that makes him perfect for this character.”

He continued: “We’re approaching this as a big-screen experience from the ground up.”

With Cage leading a survival story filled with cannibals, attack dogs and a besieged compound, Parish is shaping up as a gritty post-apocalyptic action film designed for the theatrical market.
