THE HIT LIST

The Hit List: NKOTB, Iggy Azalea, Drake, Zayn Malik, Michael Jackson…

Ok guys here’s a new list of songs to fire up your music players, some old and some brand new, and some you may never have heard of. If there’s anything you want me to cover drop me a line on neillfrazer@hotmail.com

New Kids On The Block – “Take My Breath Away”: This is quite an old song in fact it was taken from their 2013 album entitled “10”. It’s written by the very talented James Fauntleroy who has had a successful list of number 1 hits, and also happens to be one of my favourite songwriters. The album probably wasn’t as big as their comeback record “The Block”, but it’s still worth a listen especially for this single.

Drake – “Don’t Matter To Me (feat. Michael Jackson)”: Such an unlikely duo and of course when you read it’s featuring the king of pop you already get a little excited for it. It’s off Drake’s album “Scorpion” and the fourth single from it, and features part of an unreleased 1983 session between Jackson and Canadian singer-songwriter Paul Anka. I’m not a fan of Drake latest work but the fact it features the king, well I must say I’m a little bias. The single debuted at number 9 on the Billboard charts, and makes it Jackson’s 30th top 10 singles.

Why Don’t We – “Talk”: This up and coming boyband is really making some great music, and it’s a shame their not getting the coverage that they deserve. They have great voices, and are really turning out some hits. “Talk” follows the release of “Hooked,” which Why Don’t We released in June just before their overseas tour came to an end. They’ll be returning to Europe in October for shows in cities both familiar and new, following a first-ever run of shows in Asia. While on tour the boys filmed the music video for the single, and if you haven’t heard their music please do yourself a favour and check them out.

Iggy Azalea – “Kream (feat. Tyga)”: Kream is the raunchy new single from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, and it’s set to scorch the radio airwaves. Full of extreme shots of twerking and Kylie Jenner’s ex, rapper Tyga, I expect it to make some real traction on the charts. Taken from Iggy’s forthcoming album “Survive The Summer” due for release on August 3rd. I’m sure there’s a lot of people anticipating this.

Kalin White – “idc ‘Bout The Club, I Just Want You”: The name or the artist won’t ring a bell no doubt, but this song and this singer is worth knowing. This single brings you back to old school R&B feels, such a great track to chill out to. Go check Kalin White out.

Bobby Brackins – “Big Film (feat. G-Eazy & Jeremih)”: Bobby Brackins gets some assistance from Jeremih and fellow rapper G-Eazy for his latest single, “Big Film.” The new song marks the second collaboration he’s done with both artists. Brackins worked with Eazy on “My Jam” alongside Zendaya, while Jeremih and Brackins previously collaborated on “Hot Box” with Mila J. “Big Film” is undoubtedly going to be another party starter from the rapper, which is taken from his forthcoming EP, look out for that.

Zayn Malik – “Me, Myself & I”: It’s been two years since Zayn Malik released his debut album and it looks like he’s gearing up for something new. The singer recently took to Twitter to say he’s got “a few surprises” on the way for fans, sharing a cover of Beyoncé‘s 2003 single “Me, Myself, And I.” Turning the track into a silky, funk-inflected slow jam, making it almost better then the original.

Benny Blanco, Khalid and Halsey – “Eastside”: EDM crossovers seem to be all the fad lately and Benny Blanco has dropped his new single about growing up called “Eastside”. With vocals from Khalid and Halsey, and writing help from Ed Sheeran, “Eastside” finds Halsey and Khalid singing about transitioning into adulthood against a dance-y, pop beat. Such a good song and a sure radio hit.
