The ‘Burbs Television Series Given The Greenlight At Peacock

A television series based on The ‘Burbs has been given the greenlight by Peacock. The film which was originally released in 1989, is a black comedy film directed by Joe Dante and starred Tom Hanks. Peacock has now given a straight-to-series order for a new television adaptation of the iconic film. 

“Set in present-day suburbia, The ‘Burbs follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home,” the series’ logline reads. “Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”

Keke Palmer will star in the series as an undisclosed character. Celeste Hughey is writing the series and serves as an executive producer alongside Palmer, Seth MacFarlane.
