Proclivitas emerges from a celebrated production phase in Western Australia, shot entirely on location across Perth and regional areas. The film was awarded the prestigious 2023 West Coast Visions initiative by Screenwest, which provided critical support through major investments from Screenwest, Lotterywest, and Screen Australia. This backing has helped propel the project onto the national and international stage.
Set for a wider release on February 19, 2026, Proclivitas is described as an emotionally charged, visually inventive genre film that deftly explores themes of trauma, addiction, grief, and love through a distinctly Australian lens. It’s a debut feature from Tunnecliffe, who is quickly establishing herself as a compelling new voice in Australian cinema.
The narrative centers on Clare (played by Rose Riley, known for roles in Stateless and Mr Inbetween), a woman grappling with profound grief who returns to her hometown to recover. There, she rekindles an old romance with Jerry (George Mason, acclaimed for The Power of the Dog and Exposure). However, her return awakens a terrifying demonic force intent on her destruction, transforming her personal journey into a harrowing battle between reality and supernatural horror. Supporting roles include Hayley McElhinney (The Babadook, Mystery Road: Origin), portraying Tara, Jerry’s sister.
