Apple TV+ Announces Release Date for New Sports Comedy Film “The Dink” Starring Ben Stiller and Jake Johnson

Apple TV+ has revealed the highly anticipated release date for its upcoming sports comedy movie, “The Dink,” starring Ben Stiller and Jake Johnson. The streaming platform confirmed that the film will premiere on July 24, 2026, and also provided an early look at its summer lineup.

“The Dink” features Jake Johnson as Dusty Boyd, a former tennis prodigy, and Mary Steenburgen as Candace. The film also stars Ed Harris, Andy Roddick, Patton Oswalt, Chloe Fineman, Chris Parnell, Aaron Chen, and Ben Stiller in key roles. Apple TV+ shared the announcement on social media with the caption: “#TheDink. Coming July 24 to Apple TV+.”

Plot Overview of “The Dink”

Set at a suburban country club, “The Dink” follows Dusty Boyd, who now coaches unruly children after a career-ending injury. Dusty is determined to win his father’s approval by opposing the rising popularity of pickleball, a sport he initially dismisses. However, after re-injuring himself and turning to pickleball for rehab, Dusty begins to enjoy the game—especially when partnered with Candace, played by Mary Steenburgen.

As Dusty embraces pickleball, he confronts past failures, rekindles old rivalries—including a showdown with tennis legend Andy Roddick—and fights for the future of his club, his relationship with his father, and his own self-discovery.

Behind the Scenes of “The Dink”

Directed by Josh Greenbaum, known for “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” the film is produced by Ben Stiller and John Lesher for Red Hour Films. Additional production credits go to Rob Paris and Mike Witherill for Rivulet Entertainment, with Jake Johnson also serving as a producer. The screenplay is written by Sean Clements, with executive producers including Rick Steele, Josh Greenbaum, Joe Hardesty, Jonathan McCoy, and Daniel Crosser.
