Apple TV has unveiled the first look photo from its upcoming comedy series, Brothers, featuring a reunion of the stars from True Detective. In this new show, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson swap crime scenes for family chaos. The image offers fans a glimpse of the relaxed, humorous tone they’ve been eager to see, signaling a fresh chapter for the pair.

Shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Apple TV, the first look captures Harrelson relaxing in a flowery Hawaiian shirt, holding a guitar, while McConaughey sits beside him with a drink in one hand and a finger pointed in the air. The background features a vintage car in a rustic, Texas-inspired setting, highlighting the show’s atmosphere and the undeniable chemistry between the two actors.

Brothers is set to premiere globally on September 23, with the first two episodes available simultaneously. New episodes will follow every Wednesday through November 4, totaling eight episodes.

The series stars McConaughey and Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves. Their longstanding friendship faces upheaval when a family secret comes to light, suggesting they might actually be half-brothers. This revelation sparks a series of chaotic events, as described in the official synopsis: “After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. What starts as a healing retreat quickly turns chaotic when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), unintentionally reveals a long-buried secret—that the two men could be brothers.”
The series draws inspiration from real-life rumors. For years, speculation has circulated about a familial connection between the actors. In 2023, Harrelson told Esquire that his father had a brief relationship with McConaughey’s mother. “We haven’t done a test, but there are too many times I think, ‘My God, the similarities!’” he shared. “The things he does, the way he talks — I’ve felt that for years.”

Now, audiences will finally see how this intriguing story unfolds—albeit in a fictionalized form.
