Khalid – “out of body”: Khalid has revealed that coming out has significantly influenced his music, as he shared in a recent interview. After being publicly outed on social media by an ex last year, the singer-songwriter embraced his identity as a gay man and entered a new chapter in his musical journey. In September, he released the single “Out of Body,” from his upcoming album After the Sun Goes Down. Khalid explained to People that being outed and open about his sexuality has left a profound impact on his artistry. “This album wouldn’t have come to be if I wasn’t outed,” he stated. He also mentioned that he’s now creating music that reflects his personal tastes—songs he genuinely enjoys listening to—particularly inspired by the artists who influenced him during his youth. “It’s like a big tribute to the iconic figures who paved the way before me,” Khalid shared. “Listening to Britney [Spears] or watching Rihanna’s videos fueled my sense of freedom in expression as a kid. I’ve always dreamed of being a pop star, and now I’ve tapped into that inner child and given him the spotlight he always yearned for.”
