Bryce Dallas Howard, known for her role in the Jurassic World franchise, has officially joined the cast of Anything But Ghosts, a supernatural horror movie directed by Curry Barker. The film, which is generating buzz ahead of Barker’s upcoming theatrical debut, is set to be released by Focus Features. Barker co-wrote the screenplay with his longtime collaborator Cooper Tomlinson, and the project is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Spooky Pictures, and Divide/Conquer.

Howard joins a cast that includes Aaron Paul, Curry Barker, and Tomlinson, who also stars in the film. Filming wrapped earlier this month, but plot details remain under wraps. The project’s producers include industry veterans Jason Blum, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath.

This casting news comes just ahead of the May 15 release of Barker’s Obsession, which Focus Features acquired for over $10 million following its screening at the Toronto Film Festival. Additionally, Barker recently signed on to write and direct a reimagining of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for A24.

Beyond her acting career, Bryce Dallas Howard has an extensive portfolio that includes Jurassic World, Rocketman, The Help, and her debut in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village. She has also directed episodes of popular Star Wars series such as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. Howard has helmed feature documentaries like Dads for Apple TV and Pets for Disney+.

Anything But Ghosts first drew industry attention in September, marking the initial collaboration between Blum and Lee. The project is produced by Barker, Tomlinson, and Image Nation, with Barker, Tomlinson, and Ben Ross serving as executive producers. Barker, who previously gained recognition with his horror YouTube feature Milk & Serial, transitioned from sketch comedy to Hollywood success. The film is produced by Image Nation and Barker and Tomlinson’s That’s a Bad Idea.
